Pen Puffco Pivot

I don't think Puffco would do this due to liability reasons. But maybe a third party could rig up a dry cleaning device or adapter out of an e-cig mod. Their attys are still based on e-cig tech.

Occasionally I'll still chazz up a v5 cup. Dry firing and watching it go back to pure white is very satisfying for some reason lol.

New discovery....granny mode (5 clicks on blue) is actually TWICE the sesh length so you get a nice relaxed 90s and it doesn't overheat like a back to backer!

How hot is granny mode? Please link if this is documented somewhere.

Howzit everyone. I caved and bought a pivot and extra chambers from vgoodiez. I ordered late night on 10/28, shipped out the next day (10/29), and USPS delivered from East coast to Hawaii in 2 days (10/31). Outstanding service from both parties.

I have a quartz banger setup, but because I only vape outdoors, it’s a bit of a hassle to carry everything outside, dab, clean, and then wait for everything to cool so I can put it away. And I definitely don’t want my neighbors to see me constantly torching a rig. So I’ve been using rayon to dab in my tempest. Works great, but not ideal.

Pivot works great imo. The silicone mp does a great job at cooling the vapor. I’ve been using white as I like to get as much as I can in 1/2 hits. But even on white, it feels like I have to extend the session to get it all. I tried boost mode on white, and coughed my lungs out. I then put a 3mm zirc ball (from my tempest) in the chamber and LOVE it. You can easily finish the load well before it times out. A quick cotton swab and done.

I’ll probably have to look into getting an aftermarket wpa, but it’s a no go if it doesn’t spin the ball in the chamber.

Battery kinda sucks, but not a dealbreaker. On white, with no boost mode, I got 6 bowls before pivot warned me of the low battery. Then squeezed one more bowl in before charging. 7 dabs is plenty enough for me when out and about.

Truly happy with my purchase.

I saw the vgoodiez email about the restock which was the first I'd heard of it having been offline for a bit wrt this stuff.

I came here to read a little and ended up buying one as well. It seems like it has potential to fill the portable concentrate hole I have in my soul and the feedback seems to be pretty good!

I'll let y'all know what I think whenever it shows up now that it has shipped.

Careful with your tethers. This was likely my fault because I always twist them to hold them back in place otherwise it covers half the chamber. I've seen this happen with new peak joysticks as well. I'm looking for a new mouthpiece, probably glass.

I was able to get the chambers clean by using near boiling 99% iso and letting it dry plus one burn off. Slight odour but at least no shit is coming out like before. Definitely need some patience with these.

Also took out my 3mm ruby. I feel like it was creating hotter and harsher vape that didn't taste as good as without.

Just started my rma for chamber and sleeve lol.

Can confirm. I just tried it without the pearl and vapor was noticeably smoother. The pearl also can cause major splatter if you pull too hard on the first hit. I guess the advantage of the pearl is on the clean up hits. Less puddle after timeout. First two pics no pearl (before and after), last 2 with pearl.

If I’m using a pearl, my first hit is slow enough to not spin the pearl (huge cloud), second hit starts slow, then ramps up enough to spin (medium cloud). Clean up hits are fast and barely any visible vapor.

The chambers can be taken out of the silicone mouthpiece, right?

My local shop has some plain glass tops from simple.human.glass for $15.
Those look pretty cool. Better to get the silicone out of the vapor path. I just don’t like it sticking straight up like that. Might feel weird looking straight down while hitting it (since you need to hold the pivot upright). I’m gonna wait until someone creates a mouthpiece with a bent straw.

Edit: But if I saw it at $15 at a local shop, I’d get it.

Yeah I've been lazy making my way down there. A bent neck would improve the ergonomics for sure. We'll see if I make it by tomorrow. HMK has making some with a bend, but I'm certain the price is higher. Wanna see if I like the glass enough more to justify the expense.

Just wanted to drop in having used mine for a few days now.

Love it. Seems the best hits I take on it are putting similar loads to the Cricket. I just about got my pull strength dialed in, so minimal if any splatter. Swabs out easy, and the reclaim is nice and dark after one hit. I’ve played around with all the temps and both Easter eggs, and I prefer red with maybe a .1 or so dab, solid sushi rice grain. I’ve tried over filling and definitely ended up with a sticky cap, but still pretty easy to clean. 6*/full melt in granny was deeeeeeelish, haven’t tried it on the other heat levels. Using rosin for all the other testing previously mentioned. 3D printing a tube case for it that was posted on Reddit.

All in all, while this will DEFINITELY be my on the go device (that is to say I’m shelving the xl aeris, rarely take out the lightening pen or the cricket), I honestly love it for while I’m at home too. Nice big clouds, using much less material, and so far lasts from dinner until sleep, though it is red when I go to sleep.

It showed up today! For the purposes of transparency, the device arrived with some evidence of corrosion at the top of the battery. It isn't bad enough I was scared to use it but I reached out to Puffco support just in case and all I can say is they have some excellent support. I didn't expect them to respond to a web ticket within an hour or two on Friday and then respond within minutes 3 or 4 more times. Impressive stuff!

They said it was fine to use until the replacement part is here so I cleaned it and charged it and gave it a go. Initial impressions are it is that puzzle piece I've been missing. Some of the best flavor I've gotten so I tested with another bowl... And another... Yes. Very happy so far!

I like green most for flavor, but I am new to this style device (only used the Huni Badger and Pro for dedicated concentrate devices so far) and can't seem to find the right draw to not have a decent amount of cooked oil left over so I have found myself going with red for the last 3 bowls. I need to read back and figure out the granny mode and Easter eggs but I'm extremely impressed with what I am getting out of this package at this price so far.

I will say it's noticably warm to hold after 1-2 sessions on green or 1 on red and bordering what I think many would consider hot to hold after 2-3 on red (I didn't test enough on green) but it seems to cool down quickly. It was almost room temp after a minute or so when I'd picked it back up.

I heard back yesterday as well about my Pivot chamber rma, but it took more than 3 business days not an hour or two. Furthermore what's irritating is that I already provided ALL the information they were asking for, but they yet again put me through the misery. It's like they don't even read the email or look at any of the attachments. Regardless i'll be getting a new chamber, but not sure about the silicone sleeve. They basically told me neither are covered, but since it's so new...yadda yadda.

They said it was fine to use until the replacement part is here

What replacement part? Are they sending you a new Pivot?

can't seem to find the right draw to not have a decent amount of cooked oil left over

For blue and green if the dab isn't small enough you could try using a 3mm sapphire/ruby pearl to increase efficiency. But i'm also noticing slower draw isn't always better with this thing. It's like playing an instrument or something especially if you're listening for the pearl spinning lol. I also listen to mine after the buzz because you can actually hear the oil bubbling, so it takes a few seconds for that to tame down.

I need to read back and figure out the granny mode and Easter eggs but I'm extremely impressed with what I am getting out of this package at this price so far.

Happy to hear you're as stoked as I still am! Easter eggs are easy, you just click 5 times AFTER double clicking to start a cycle on blue or white. Warning: White easter egg is HOT AF! It will EAT your dab, and WAY too hot for any quality hash rosin IMO. But if you want a nice one ripper, it can be easily achieved on red or white (easter or not).

many would consider hot to hold after 2-3 on red

I don't think I could even get away with 3 consecutive on red without overheat alarm kicking in. Then again, swapping chambers does help although doesn't fix a hot battery like I thought it would.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
It was mentioned that you should avoid loading your dab by wiping your dab tool on the side of the atomizer and use a hot knife dabber to drop it in the center. Is this really an issue? I really don't want to need a hot knife to load my sticky live resin.

Thanks for all the info packaged into a single message!

Yes, I thought it was going to be the battery section only which they said has a 2 year warranty but they said since it's new they want me to have the right experience from the box. I dunno if I was lucky on timing when I submitted but it was definitely an excellent experience for me. I'm sorry to hear yours took a little longer to get to resolution.

Now off to try Granny and boost modes and maybe steal some pearls from my Tempest collection!

I mean this is a huge part of why I don't like these or any cold start setups, for me the loading is a nightmare, something about hot knife feels wasteful to me too I don't know

Something about burning out another lithium battery to make dab loading a little easier.

Or even psychologically, wasting dab, is what I meant, like just seeing some vapor come off of the knife when you drop the dab in, tiny bit of oil remaining on the knife... end up heating the oil twice kind of too etc. ehhh

I don’t have a hot knife. I use one of those free dabber scoops thingy that most vendors send with purchases. Been using live resin as well. Kinda just scraping it around until it falls. Not sure how you would load it if the wax was too runny though. Maybe a hot start? Challenge accepted. :D

Activated the heater in red, then scraped the resin off the dabber, cover and hit after vibration. Went pretty hard on the initial hit too.
So I stopped the recording and decided to record my swabbing process. Keep in mind, there’s a pearl in there.

So far, I’ve run almost 2 grams of live resin. Haven’t found the need to do a deep clean yet (just swabbing really good after every hit). And still using just one chamber. Definitely enjoying this little beast.

They must be working OT because they just dispatched my replacement chamber. Unfortunately they're sending me an onyx instead of the Slate, but it's all good since it was my own fault and Slate sleeves are inexpensive.
