Weed makes me tired and jittery and a little paranoid and rushed. I have friends who love to smoke. I just can't figure out why my experience is so crappy. Any suggestions?
That's what I feel like if I have too much, particularly for the first hit of the day. And others will confirm that this is often their experience too. It might be like someone saying that they don't like wine, because when they drink two bottles of it they feel sick and throw up.
The first hit you have should be only a mini hit. Then wait a good 15 minutes for it to kick in properly - because that's how long it takes. The initial dizzy, queasy headrush you get from smoking is basically from all the other crap in the smoke - toxic gasses will do that to you (and of course this part is what we avoid with a vape). Keep this in mind, and keep your hits small until you gauge their effects. Then take bigger ones if you feel like it.
Now if you like your wine, there's nothing wrong with having a little to take the edge off the weed high. Just don't whatever you do get too drunk and then smoke/vape - that can get very messy indeed.
But remember the biggest factor in the quality of your high is your own mind and what you choose to focus it on. What you're thinking, how you're feeling and the environment you're in will make all the difference. Weed isn't so much a drug that makes you feel a certain way, it basically makes whatever you're feeling even moreso. So it's good to consciously let go of worries and relax into it, like a hot bath, and the high will respond with a feeling of deep warmth and wellbeing.
Here's a little exercise in imagination and thought control for when you're high:
- Imagine a monkey in a palm tree
- Now imagine a monkey in a palm tree, that's
not holding a banana.
It should keep you entertained for a bit, at least.
Then again, perhaps you actually are one of those for whom weed won't work well. Mind you, it would be highly recommended for you to try vaping, so you can get a proper idea about what the effects of cannabinoids (the pshycoactive oils in weed) really are about, without the contaminating experience of inhaling smoke.
If you don't know anyone with a vape, then I guess you'll have to buy one or make your own. You could make a lightbulb vape just to get an idea of what it's like, but it's not the sort of thing you'd want to be using for long, as it's not efficient or effective - and it makes you feel like you should move into a squat in the seedier end of town. But if you buy your own, get a good basic model, and if you find you just don't like the whole weed thing, you will still have a device that your friends might well make use of - and it just may find a new home.
