Post your decarb method here!

I use a de carb method I haven’t heard of anyone else using but it works like a charm for me. If it’s a small batch (<3g) I seal it as well as I can in a foil pouch. Larger batch I use a glass jar with lid. I put the foil pouch into my airfryer and place a Pyrex cup on it to hold it down (very windy in there), set the temp to 250 (the actual temp at this setting is 237) and run it for 40 minutes.

Air fryer to decarb.
Sounds doable ... More details available?

The Maximizer. A once commercially available decarboxylation device developed in 1981 by Lawrence McKinne; in conjunction with Dr. Norman J. Doorenbos the first director of the government-funded Marijuana Research Project at the University of Mississippi.
From the patient holder himself..."The proper temperature for total decarboxylation of Cannabis Sativa is anywhere between 95 and 105 degree centigrade for approximately 90 minutes. You can't "flash decarboxylate;" (in-as-much) as a dehydrator has all this warm air. It's more effective to seal it a "boiling bag;" and immerse it boiling water for the afore-mentioned 90 minutes. Note: You can not observe a chemical change by the fact that the product in itself is dry. There is no real correlation."

For this method there is a water circulator , e.g. Anova - and an "oven", I think.
Am leaning toward it for flower decarb, and cause it has infusion potential.

Can we hear from others using this method?

Some of us have the Magical Butter Maker and we use the decarb process with the oil in the machine. The temp is 220 degrees for 1 hour, the tempreture is more precise than using the oven. Just push a button and let the machine take care of it.

I am interested in buying the Magical Butter machine . Do we need to decarb on that machine. I am getting confused. Some say yes. some say no. I am buying trimmings for very cheap. Would it work with trimmings. ? Going to make butter than brownies.

Hi y'all. I didn't read this entire post, so I wonder if anyone posted on the Ardent Nova decarb machine? I got mine in November and I love it. It is definitely my most useful and treasured canna-equipment.

I decarbed bud and made kick ass tinctures. I find that tincture works so much better for me than vaping: the high/medical effects are so much more intense and long-lasting.

I've also been using the Nova to decarb leaves, which I've been trimming since the beginning of flower (on some CBD-high strains and some sedative indicas), and they are incredibly potent. I decarb them and eat a good mouthful with a little oil, and I'm high for hours. A bunch of other folks tried it on another forum and loved the effects.

The Nova has come up several times within this Cooking with Cannabis forum. Searching this forum and it has come up within this thread and within the Magical Butter thread.

Trimmings on the cheap is a great way to go for butter/oil extraction. You will want to skew the meds:oil ratio from what you would use for buds.

The MBM used to claim no decarb needed; they no longer do. So word to the wise. I'v gotten decent results in the past running a 4 hour MBM oil cook. How much was lost due to not going the Nova route I can not say.

has anyone ever tried drying then decarbing in a halogen oven yet might give it a go later what do you think?

I have multiple methods of Decarbing when I cook at home, depending on how I feel or which fat I'm emulsifying.
I Sous-vide ahem weed;) or vacuum up the buds in a zip bag or even a mason jar, submerge it in water @95c. or just below 212f. for about 2 hours. This method minimizes smell if any at all.:science:

thanks for the reply helios i think i will go for the boiling water mason jar method it take too much time regulating the temperature in a halogen

I'm going to try using my rosin press to decarb my rosin (sit it on a "bowl" shaped parchment on top of the bottom plate, set to 240F for 45min or until bubbling stops). Should be a good consistent temp this way as I trust my rosin press to maintain consistent temp more than an oven or anything else I have :)

i'd love to buy an ardent nova but there just too expensive and as i'm in the uk a magical butter machine over here are going for £250 which i think takes the piss for what is essentially a mixer with a heating element

@theaog If you are going to use a mason jar technique make sure you are using an oil/fat together with the buds while Decarbing otherwise it won't work, only sous-vide cannabis in a zip lock or vac-bag solo.

I’ve been using a mason jar with a loose lid suspended in boiling water method for almost 30 years. You don’t need oil in the jar.

Course grind the herb. Put in herb jar, put lid on jar loosely. Put jar in water then start to heat up the water. 2 hours in the water with a little shake every 30 min to mix the herb a bit. Then I’ll take the lid off and add whatever fat I feel like using. Top back on, one finger tight, air needs to get out as it expands. Two more hours on the boil with a shake every 30 min and done.

When you need to add water use a kettle to get the water up to boil before adding it to the boil pot.

This setup (rocket science ;) )
The wire is aluminum fence wire. It keeps it centered. The black thing on the bottom is a silicone canning thing. Keeps the jar off the bottom.

thanks for the tips really appreciated because i sometimes get the decarb right but its few and far between for instance just made a alcohol tincture and wasn't decarbed properly because i'd get more of a hit off a aspirin than this shit

Re natural decarb. If flower is package sealed, will it "naturally decarb" without opening?
Have 1 at least 2 mos old that can be stored another 5 months or more.
Anyone know if the flower needs to be exposed to air for a better decarb - or if it's ok decarbing sealed?

Sick of combusting, want to make edibles.
So, it seems like decarboxylation happens just fine with herb mixed with oil. No need to decarb loose herb.
But
- tries to avoid "wasting cannabis due to falloff in butter oil's aggressiveness as a solvent". what. does this mean decarbing is less efficient if THCA is dissolved in oil?

Seems like the pressure cooker reaches 250F since it only has a single pressure setting: 15psi. But atmospheric pressure is ~14.7psi, does this mean it's 15psi above atmospheric pressure? That checks out - the boiling point of water at 15+14.7 psi is just around 250F. It also has a low setting, of 8 psi. The boiling point would be 235F at this setting.

I think this plan is solid.. appreciate any feedback.

1. Pour ~150mL of coconut oil, 1 gram of herb, ?[0.3-2] grams of ABV, and a gram of moonrocks into a mason jar.
2. Put it in a simmer bath so it liquifies. Break the stuff apart with a fork or something
3. Leave it sealed for a while so it infuses?
4. Put it (sealed, suspended) in a pressure cooker. 250F for.. 30 minutes? Not sure of the optimal time for this temperature.
5. Take it out of the heat, let it cool down and depressurize.
6. Add lecithin.
7. Either make capsules, or add it to something like matcha tea.

Two problems.

If you don’t decarb before infusion the chlorophyll will still be intact. This can cause some unpleasant intestinal issues.

Should be light brown after decarb. No green

2. A mostly empty mason jar in a pressure cooker can implode. I’d just use the hot water bath to infuse. Keep the water ~208*F For two hours is good.

In a pressure cooker you won’t be able to shake the mason jar every 15min or so while it is infusing. Mixing it up is important to get full extraction. Probably more important than any other thing.

Thanks
Is the chlorophyll only an issue in a gelatine capsule that releases in the intestines? Spinach has a lot of chlorophyll, and it's fine to eat raw..
using Gay-Lussac's law, the pressure of a mason jar at 250F would be 19.43psi. while outside would be 29.7psi. so it would probably implode, lol
I will try your method

When you munch spinach the acid in your stomach breaks down the chlorophyll. Chlorophyll suspended in oil will make it through the stomach intact.

I just made chocolates last night. I was in orbit after licking all the bowls and spoons.

1.5 hours and it's almost just as green. maybe due to moisture, since i'm using a crock pot with a towel over it.. but there's no visible moisture inside the jar

My guess; Lid was on too tight. If air can’t get out it will stay too humid in the jar.

i've found that i can't control temperature in water as i don't use a pressure cooker i use a small portable hob i have found that a mason jar suspended in vegatable oil works great as i can control temperature with the oil bath much better within 1c either way and there is no chance of steam getting into mason jar i knew nothing about this method just replaced Boden's method of water with oil thanks again mate for the tips.
