Post-Processing Rosin - Your wish, after the squish

Well, it looks and smells good. Now I'm a little afraid to use it.

I've seen this stuff sold in cannacaps where the tinest amount is poured into a gel cap. Scary that it could be that potent. I'm going to start with an 1/8th teaspoon (or less) and go from there. Even though I vape 2-3 bowls every day I am still a lightweight with potency. I can get too high very easily.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Dosing is hard, lol.

Anymore we just use concentrates for edibles. I strip pressed pucks with iso, render that down and re dilute with ethanol and freeze for a few days, filter, and render down again for a clean rso type oil that we store in syringes for accurate dosing. Well, that and sometimes I just use rosin, not as strong, but similar, and easy to weigh.

As for your oil, one cup has 48 tsp and 96, 1/2 tsp. Measure your amounts (in teaspoons) as you try it. That will help you determine future dosing.

After 3 days of being left in a hot garage, sealed inside a Mason jar.

And today, after another 2 days it looks like this.

20200708-190133.jpg

Every time I have opened the jar, the rosin has expanded to almost fill the far, quite odd.
A quick whip and it has turned into this wonderfully smooth, very soft almost jam like in consistency.
It dabs well, tastes great, hits are powerful and it's home made!
This is the next revolution!

How is your experiment going? :)

How is your experiment going? :)

I have left it inside and on my vape desk for the past few days to stabilize and see what it is.
It needed a good mixing and with that it gave off a very strong smell of the flowers, exactly the same!
The dab even tasted exactly like the smell. Very interesting!!

I have no idea what it has turned into. It has a glistening surface but looks waxy when you move it slightly and it is very stretchy and stringy.
Here is a quick video of what it looks like.

Would you call that sort of a badder? Looks great and really like the color.

Just a follow up. I am up to a half teaspoon without any effects yet. I learned that adding sunflower lecithin to the cannaoil is helpful so I added a teaspoon to my cup of oil. Still nothing yet. I'll up it to 1 teaspoon tomorrow night.

Clearly the worst part of finding your dosage is the hour you have to wait to see if there is any effect. That hour goes VERY slow. It might be the longest T-break I've ever done. ;)

I'll report back when I finally hit a threshold.

Just a follow up. I am up to a full teaspoon without any effects yet. I learned that adding sunflower lecithin to the cannaoil is helpful so I added a teaspoon to my cup of oil. Still nothing yet. I'll up it to 1.5 teaspoons tomorrow night.

I guess that would be the best description!
It's like a smooth peanut butter consistency

Next jar that I press will be at a lower temp to see what it squishes out!

I don't think it is sap as it collected easily without any addition of cold required.
It scooped off as a hard resinous ball that was very hard.

I have pressed sappy strains before and they needed an ice brick to collect anything otherwise it just smeared.

The resin above never smeared and was solid from the start.

Based on your video it’s sap. See how it stretches like taffy when you reach for some? Badder/budder doesn’t stretch when you grab a dab.

Team NO SLEEP!
Looks like FIRE!!

What temps were you pressing?
I have found similar results but lowering temps too far IME tends to crystalize more on the plates and stifles the run. I get a great butter like consistency after a day or two when lowering the temp... you can cut it with a knife.

Honestly, looks like you are in a sweet spot with regards to color, yield, consistency and quality.

You guys are a BAD influence!!
I am telling my MOM on you guys!!!

This bud was harvested on 29th March 2019 and has been sitting in jars at 65% RH in a dark, cool cupboard since then.
It presses amazingly well!

Started the press at 165F, 1 minute with some pressure to heat puck, then slow crank to max for 1 minute, then raise temp to 175F, crank again and wait one more minute.

The previous one was pressed at 190F!

Also pressed the last of my Comatose bud, was tired of dry flower vaping it for so long.
Now I have delicious, potent rosin!

Sure looks nice, I hover around that temp for my first press of the puck too, I then repress at 205 to get some darker stuff, here is some I prepared earlier,
75c and 95c,

@invertedisdead

This is the same rosin in the video above.
It was left in a sealed Mason jar in my stash drawer at room temperature for about 3 days.
What would you call this??

HA!

What I made over the weekend looks a bit like that straight off the press. Sugared up quite quickly. I was going to come here and ask inverted the same thing :D But I vaped it all before I got round to it :)

It looks like it's changing consistency and starting to budder up. If it's not as tacky as it was in the earlier video, it will probably become a bit more granular within the next few days, sort of like a cookie dough consistency. 🍪🍪

I'm pretty new to rosin, did a couple press the other day and just about filled the jar. My problem is the rosin would bubble up and try to squeeze out of the jar if I leave it sealed for a bit.

I know an easy fix would be to not fill my jars as much, but was wondering if it will eventually cure into a more stable state and stop bubbling?

No wtf lol the room it’s kept in is room temp.

This happen twice now, when I open the jar it would be bubbling up and trying to squeeze out of the jar and getting all over the threads. The jar is kept upright too.

edit: also when you look at it while it’s sealed you can see tiny small bubbles in the rosin too. This does not happen when the jar is not sealed.

I read another member mention this happen to them a page back, but no one commented about it.

I just want full jars that will not have problems.
