I've been in sort of an informal "race" to see which happens first, I finish my move (re-locating to Laguna Woods) vs the delivery of my ZX. Hoping to be "moved" to be honest.

I was supposed to be out of my home tomorrow; however the fires earned me a 3 week reprieve.

He is aa photo taken 2 nights ago from the front yard off my Encino (Los Angeles) home, which is scary looking, but I'm fine.

I'm also in no hurry. LOL

I read the posts around the one @Oden pointed out and I found this one I wanted to share:
The bowl in this 16MM ZXL concept is larger than it looks.
It's over 30% larger than the 3 position ZX bowl.
Closer to the 18MM ZXL bowl that I previously offered.
It's big enough for very heavy extractions, enough to still be worthy of using the ZXL name, but the heater is downsized like my previous quartz/boro InVerzion 1.7,
Screen installs would be the easiest of anything yet due to the tapered bowl interior, it's going to basically "walk" the screen right down to the ledge.

The idea is by making a larger bowl, but tapering down to this smaller screen, we can still leverage an effective microdosing option with the same bowl.
And 14MM was chosen on the bowl to glass end since 18MM easily reduces down versus enlarging up. A dedicated 18MM bowl with an even larger capacity could be done down the road, my existing 18MM ZXL bowl would be compatible, for example.

It should be less airflow than the 18MM ZXL, but based on previous 18MM to 14MM setups I built, I think it would be more open than the ZX.
You can also adjust that by using a different bead size.

Additionally, I have an alternate handle design that's different from the Viton O Ring approach that could be realized as well.

If there was enough interest in doing this design I could change over any pending preorders over to this if one wanted to do so.

Appreciate you supporting the Z Tribe!

You're definitely in for a treat! :science:
Things are quite a bit behind right now, hoping to have all pending orders done and shipped out before the end of October!

Thanks a ton for the opportunity to serve your premium vaping demands!

Like @Spy Car I pre-ordered a ZX recently and have been patiently awaiting its arrival... but having said that, I would still be on board with whatever new release I see from phase3: Glass, ZXLim (16mm), Portable, Passion Project, or Accessories. Looking forward to 2025 with phase3.

Glad to hear you are OK. It just seems like a terrifying experience.

I can't fathom this 16mm variant. So it would be a bowl that fits a 20mm joint, but it will have a 16mm coil instead of 18mm?

What is the benefit in the design? How is it different to the OG ZXL?

It's based on the InVerzion 1.7, my last boro / quartz design I made before I started PHASE3 and switched to zirconia ceramic.
I think it was from 2021/2022

The body fits a 16MM coil (like the ZX) and the heater has a standard 18.8MM taper on the end (like the ZXL) for fitting any 18MM glass bowls / adapters.

The Z8 / SX / ZX / InV2 are all based on this 7th generation glass design, but sized down with a 14MM joint on the heater.

The benefit is it shares the same electronics as the ZX for a more efficient and streamlined operation on my end, and it's physically more svelte and light in the hand compared to the 20MM ZXL for very refined type of feeling.

16mm ZXL, it is. I love my ZX! I thought nothing would dethrone my logs, but I am starting to think that the ZX did or is about to just do that.

The smaller 14MM bowls for the ZX was partially influenced by time with my Underdog Alpha.
I wanted something efficient like that but in a (IMO) cleaner tasting non metallic platform + other things I wanted in my own personal vape design such as an external isolated heat source, enough heat retention for unlimited back to back uses, and no need to invert for WPA usage like with log vapes.

I thought about building a log vape for a number of years, so many concepts on the big list.

Huh! I find it really interesting that the 16mm ZXL seems to be most popular here... I wonder what insta would vote for...

I posted a poll on IG a while back and most votes said people wanted to see more 25MM but I'm not sure if there was any specific reason for choosing that size. I think it is more popular for wireless stuff just because 25mm bangers were the most popular / "standard" size for a few years.

Super cool to see interest here in the 16MM ZXL concept!
I hope to start making a move on toward those after I send out all my current pending preorders.

Appreciate everyone rolling with me!
Hope to get some ZX / ZXXL updates this week, crazy the month is already half over, seems like yesterday was New Years Eve; I don't know where the time goes, I swear it just vaporizes :myday:

16mm quartz all the way also excited about the commitment to making and supplying the most advanced and most satisfying of anything on the planet giddy up I’m happy riding this train.

Trying to get back in the groove of it all and finish some cool new stuff for my people!

Thanks for everyones support who makes this all possible!

Glad to hear you are OK. It just seems like a terrifying experience.

The geography (which places us at the northern end of the fire zone) and wind conditions (winds blowing north to south) lrt the fire get close to my neighborhood, but I was never terrified or highly concerned that our neighborhood would go up. It could have had there been an unusual wind-shift, but the Santa Ana winds drive the fires away.

My heartbreaks for my city. So many people lost everything. Very sad.

Thanks for the kind words.

I think the ZX will be a nice stress-reducing tool when it comes.

A wireless ZX would be awesome. And no I'm not talking about the hack from discord to make it work as a wireless setup.

i love the idea of this! my first and only ball vape is wireless. i have a zx incoming and am not looking forward to the wire :) what is the discord hack? if you don't mind i'd love the discord link too. this seems like a place i want to visit :)

I think it's weird to even call it a hack. Literally you just put a handle on it and heat it with a slightly open 16mm coil. It works great. I exclusively use my SX this way now.

The only enhancement I would make is to possibly reduce the volume of the media chamber so it isn't covered by the handle connection. I also think a handle ring works better for a ZrO2 housing so you don't have to worry about a hole, threads, etc.

a couple pieces of scrap wood, a hacksaw, dremel, drill, stainless steel zip tie, a bolt with a matching hex nut and a matching acorn nut. drill hole in base wood so that the bolt can pass through. hog out the acorn nut with a dremel tungsten carbide cutter bit to make room for the heater wire to pass through and attach to the top of the bolt. use a hacksaw on the handle to cut a groove for the zip tie. press both ends of the zip tie into the groove for a strong friction fit. stretch out the coil very slightly, a little at a time until you have a nice easy fit on the zx. I used velcro command strips to attach wooden base to top of PID. done. I'm sure there are craftier folks who can come up with a more graceful solution but this works great

I went with the easy mode.
The SKO bowl infinity ring fits the SX/ZX nicely and still gets good coverage from the coil.

I haven't tried it yet because I don't feel like stretching out one of my 16mm coils. I would not do that with the ZX, as I would be afraid the screw would crack the ceramic.

I'll probably try it in the UTHS later just for science.
