Dude, I'm waiting! I can't believe nobody has done this yet?About 6 months ago I came up with an updated SCVW- a one piece, bead free, high surface area, pure 100% quartz convection vapor wand. It’s a bit different from the original Sandcastle concept, but it still fits the philosophy all the way.
Maybe my glassblower can build me one and send it back with the bowls to try out.
My torch is ready and I will even buy a designer torch for this! ...Just don't go overboard with the mass.... less mass, more surface area for heat transfer....

I feel like I remember seeing a wooden sled someone built with a coil mounted at an angle that you could set down something like a sandcastle in to heat up. The coil wasn't tight but the person who made it said that it worked pretty well, iirc.

Alrighty USA bowls are in and I’m pretty stoked on how they came out overall! But I did notice a bit of an issue, there must have been a mix up somewhere along the conversation, as the handles were made with tubing instead of solid rod, thus the handle is basically a carb now. I understand how this could have happened, as this is what a scientific glass shop would typically build, as a vacuum adapter.
I’ll reach out to the glass shop and see what they say.
It will be easy to cap it off so no worries. Better to have it capped permanently but it'll work just fine. Nice looking bowls.

Edit: just heard back from the glass shop, the’ve acknowledged the mistake and are gonna work with me to fix these. A real benefit of doing business domestically! I’m going to get them mailed back out to the east coast today.
I really wanted to get Z8’s shipped out before my moms cancer surgery next week but it might not happen from this glass mixup. Will be trying my very best, thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

UPS attempted delivery yesterday, but I had to have him come back today as I wasn’t prepared with a check for the extra postage fees! UPS driver was talking about gas going up to $28 a gallon... not sure I can really avoid from raising prices going forward
the problem with that is I see the industry trends and demands over the last ten years, and right now it’s all about innovation of price.
Higher prices won’t make it easier to grow my brand, especially with impending Z clones on my coat tails. I have some ideas for solutions, but I might need your help to make it happen.

Zirconia is an awesome vape material, I've just started testing out carts that use a Zirconia heater and they're amazing, I bet this thing rocksYeah I think unfamiliarity has a lot to do with it, hopefully these help get more people on board Zeee Train
I've been working on this 8MM vaporizer design for a while, currently there's a direct draw and a WPA variant.
I was planning on making them out of ceramic also.
As far as ground vs unground, I don't think it's going to be a major issue either way, but the main reason I did the unground joint up top was actually for the stainless steel bowl screen, as those have a tendency to scratch the ground glass fairly easily.
Zirconia is a few clicks up from borosilicate in hardness, but it's been finely polished for less friction.
The grab handle is mostly a comfort gesture, overall the bowl should stay cooler than the 1.8's, as the beads sit further from the bowl, more like the 1.5 in that regard.
A super interesting vapor experience is a 1.5 with a S&B dosing capsule as the bowl, shoved inside the taper of the quartz heater housing; it fits loose at first, but as the capsule warms it expands and fits more snugly. The result is sort of like an Anvil, but a lot more convection dominant, as the herb is held somewhere at like 200-300F and there's leagues more heated surface area on tap, which just obliterates the bowl very fast, as there's essentially no wasted heat loss to another bowl or anything.
Yeah the unground top joint should also help reduce/prevent bowl sticking!

I’m really excited to read your first impressions & thoughts about the Z8 and hopefully see more pics & vid. However as a first round buyer, I expect exacting and thorough testing on your part to take place this weekend. I mean really red-lining this tiny thing and being borderline abusive in your consumption. I’m talking about running truly excessive amounts of cannabis through one of these bad bitches until you’re certain that it can take whatever I plan to throw at it. I see this as your duty to your customers frankly. It’s something you owe to all of us, and it’s a heavy fucking responsibility that I hope you can appreciate and fulfil. First of all, I greatly appreciate the sincere well wishes. That’s the community support that still makes this place a close family. The cancer surgery went very smooth from what I understand for such an elaborate procedure, and was over in just 3 hours, out of an estimated 5+.
Now I gotta tell you about a silly veteran rookie mistake I made! So the bead chamber on the Z8 is roughly the same size as the 1.7, but the 1.7 expands at the joint since it’s 18.8mm - whereas the Z8 tapers inwards for 14mm. All this to say I’m just waiting on half inch 1/2” screens and I’ll be slapping these together. Everything is as it was supposed to be, but it turns out my stash of screens from all my previous builds is actually 15MM (and larger) whereas I mistakingly assumed I had hundreds of 12.66mm screens in my inventory! Not a major issue by any stretch, but it’s kept me from beating the snot out of one of these just yet
Definitely been tempted to just trim one down or dome one inwards a bit so I can fire one up, but I also just want everything to be perfect and proper the very first time as it was “meant to be” with no jank

Been working on a really cool new torch vape concept these last two weeks, but it’s just in the design phase right now so who knows if/when it would happen.
Keep thinking about expanding my horizons into other things, but at the same time, I feel just as compelled to just stay in my lane and make this the best damn desktop platform I possibly can.

Airflow is incredibly important to me, every iteration I’ve changed involved improving the airflow in some regard, to allow for easier and more comfortable usage.
The Z8 moves twice as much air through the same sized bead chamber as the 1.7 to help produce denser vapor even faster.
Operating temps should be pretty similar to the 1.7, on one hand, the Z8 housing has twice the mass of the 1.7 to heat (Zirconia is 50% more dense than titanium) but the more durable material should also allow for improved coil contact which results in lower set temperatures. I’ll know better for sure once I can get some steam in the air, just waiting on 1/2” screens and glass bowls so I can make each setup identical.

A little under 100x in the 3MM size.
My vapes don’t use massive bead chambers as my concept is based on true convection. The less heat that is lost to conduction, the more is available for readily heating the air.
Most other ball vapes on the market pretty much universally add significant amounts of conduction, even some of the glass ones.
