Phase3 Vaporizers

Just occurred to me, maybe you could consider creating a stem for the Lotus @invertedisdead? 🤔✌️👍😎
Or an adapter joint that will turn the DV stem into a Lotus/pipe stem. O-ring them together, and now you've got a P3 Lotus cooling stem! ; )

Couple of questions:

1. How's the ZXXL pre-order going? Hopefully getting closer.

2. When will we get a chance for more info on the new stuff? Seems like the 20mm hybrid and the cooling stem is close. Can't wait. Hopefully all the testing and designing is going well.

Pretty much at the same spot, I think one came in and one cancelled since my last update. There’s still quite a bit of time left though.

I’m trying to get samples in for the 8MM cooling system. If I like them then they will go up for ordering and I’ll make new content about them, explaining the function and discussing what makes them different.

20MM Hybrid could come before the end of the year, but it’s not really my #1 focus right now as the desktop space has lots of options already that it will have to compete with. The ZX has sort of shown me that just having a great product really isn’t enough these days. So while I’m extremely confident in the performance of the 20MM hybrid project, I’m not super confident in how to make it appealing to shoppers to buy that over all the other options. I’m not even sure if not having beads is a good thing, as ball vapes are the rage right now.

This new hybrid vape without balls is what interests me the most in these new products.
Also the dab.
And I dream of having a wireless ZX.
Since I got the ZX I still haven't purchased any other dry herb vaporizers.
Even with the wireless craze and all these new metal heads that appeared, my VAS remained under control.
I now need to get rid of this wire and this coil that I can't stand anymore lol.
Honestly the only fault I give to wired vape balls in general is this exposed coil, dangerous and horrible to look at 🤣
The ZX would look so good with an aesthetic handle.
Compact, elegant and minimalist as I like

Maybe if the 25MM ZXXL doesn’t get funded I could try to do a more affordable wireless ZX or ZXL, more in line with my earlier designs and that use the same bowls I already sell.

I think there’s a perhaps a better chance of funding a wireless ZX since it’s my most popular model and because that idea is older than the actual ZX. But the ZX itself is still relatively unknown, even among vape enthusiasts, so I’m skeptical to keep developing that kind of stuff when I’m trying to come up with something with more mass appeal.

I'm biased towards a wireless ZX as it's the only vape that would convince me to go wireless.

Just a dude
I’d be down for a wire ZX too, what the hell! Much more desirable to me personally than the bigger designs- like RedZep, it’s the only thing that would push into “can’t help myself“ territory. The 8mm cooling stem sounds like a no-brainer as well, I really like the decision to go with 75mm length over 50mm so I’d like one of those. Curious about the hybrid design too. Basically I just need you to make things so I can give you money, my man!

I’ve noticed in this thread and other makers’ threads over the years that there will be members that want their design ideas and desires to be made real and there’s loads of talk about “I’d buy that right now if it were available!“ or just stoned cheerleading, “You’d sell so many, everyone would buy that!” and people are really just being unrealistic. So the maker spends time and money on design, materials and prototyping the thing that everyone said they’d pay for. Upon its release, the same dudes are like, “Wow, if it were just a little cheaper…” or some equally lame excuse for not ponying up the money. Product prices increase a bit and suddenly, people who haven’t bought it in a year plus are lamenting that they didn’t pull the trigger. And always in the end, it’s the maker who takes the risk and the loss until they simply aren’t here anymore. I’ve seen this happen multiple times over a variety of products in the vape space and here at FC. I think one of the biggest mistakes that a maker can make is taking too many people at their word and believing them when they say “I’d buy that, no doubt!”.

Seems like people want custom, boutique items from a small business but they want to pay mass-produced Walmart prices and that’s not real world business. That’s why I like that Ryan’s going the preorder route, that way he knows if folks are actually serious about a product. Dude is way too nice and he would love to make every single project a reality but if he’s not making a profit, he won’t be making anything for us. Not trying to be overly negative or grumpy old man here, but it seems unreasonable to think that a one-man shop is going to be able to make everything that everyone wants if people aren’t willing to prepay because one person can’t possibly cover their costs upfront, not without substantial capital and backing. I wish people would factor this into their expectations of Ryan & Phase3, pisses me off when I see someone getting snarky and demanding here. It’s just one dude, you fuckers of combustion, and it’s very important for all of us to remember that this vape shit isn’t the only thing in his life.

Maybe questionnaires could be multiple choice. Include numerous potential builds, and have answers like "definite day one pre-purchase" "Likely future buy" "less interested".

But yeah the pre order model is great for ensuring a profit can be made with each release.

People might complain that a pre-order gets cancelled, but we have to see that Ryan is offering products not being made by anyone else. That's the trade off for us. We get an amazingly designed product, with an incredibly competitive profit margin, but we have to understand it's a business still in its early days. That's why I have infinite patience for a delay on my ZX delivery, yet I would have zero patience for established producers like Storz and Dynavap for example.

ZXXL UPDATE
We’re currently at 16 or 17 units sold.
I’m trying to decide what will happen if we get close but don’t quite hit the presale goal, as that’s about where I’m expecting to land.

Part of me thinks stretch the preorder window a bit longer if everyone is cool with it, other part of me thinks if I can’t even sell 25 then I’ll be sitting on the rest of the batch for a long time so just refund and move on to something else.

For now let’s wait a few more weeks and see where we’re at.

ZX/ZXL SHIPPING
Mothers Day is over so I’ll be looking to get home and get all these orders out. Sorry for the delays, I don’t even know where the time goes. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately I do have a bit of news for a couple customers: my third package in a row to Germany has been rejected. I used to have no issues sending my gear there, but for whatever reason they aren’t clearing customs anymore.

Perhaps we could try sending them without the electronics as I’ve been told that’s what is causing the problem during import.

Sorry about that, at this moment I don’t really have any other solutions.

Thanks to everyone following along for your support and encouragement 🙏

That’s why the boutique desktops won’t be around forever. I’m thinking of selling snow cones 😅🍧

How can you spread the word about the ZXXL and other ideas.

Please wait till after Memorial Day. Some people have commented about ordering later in the month.

More people should hear about it!!!

Lastly if the goal is 25 stick to it. Better to have the sales rather than money sitting as parts waiting to sell.

Thanks for the update. Darn that sucks regarding customs in germany. Thats where im from too. You mean sending the coil bowl and injector only - basically omitting the pid? I would assume that the pid is the issue. More specifically the non existent grounding of the metal housing. I did talk to some us companies about this but no one seemed to care 🤷‍♂️

Actually the XLR plug might be an issue as well. XLR plugs are only rated to 50V max. So please just clip off the XLR on my shipment. Ill solder my own plug. Just need the pinout.

Any of those german customers around to share some details? Thanks

Most likely just bad luck. There are known issues with PID Controllers and german regulations, thats why none of the local vape shops like verdampftnochmal sell any ball vapes at all. There is one exception who sells a china sourced vape, no clue if he found a way around the problem or just dont cares.

Perhaps we could try sending them without the electronics as I’ve been told that’s what is causing the problem during import.

Can you provide some names of PID models which works with the ZX for sure? Maybe we can source them from somewhere else in europe, since this seems a german only issue.

I asked a similar question a bit ago if you want to check some of these.

I asked a similar question a bit ago if you want to check some of these.

Building on this, if you just buy the ZX and bowl you can source any 16mm coil and PID controller. Most of us were doing that before phase3 had the coils available for sale.

This is true for the ZXL but it is 20mm.

Absolutely if you buy the head any coil sized right will work. Make sure the PID and coil have the same wiring. Around the world there are two different wiring layouts used. The coil used by Phase 3 is compatible with Auber, DC, D-Nail, and a few others. I’m not sure what PIDs and coils are compatible with the other wiring but there are quite a few using both options. The PID and coil just need to match. ZX is 16 barrel and ZXL is 20 mm as stated above. Both barrel and not axial coils.

The ZXXL has been mentioned on here, on Instagram, on Reddit, and on 420VZ.
I'm not sure where else I could go. I think it's just a fairly low demand niche product. That's why I had been hesitant to post it.

I admit some of the comments in this thread made me feel a little pressured to try to launch it; but it's okay really as it will either be funded or it won't, and finding that out will be a good thing to know, whether it happens or not.

Honestly if I don't hit the goal by June 1 I'm probably just going to refund.
It's a sizable amount of cash and tempting to attempt for sure, but I don't actually make any money until the end of the batch when most units have sold and I've finally recouped all my expenses. If it's hard to sell 25 upfront, then it could take ages to sell the rest of the 50. If it will take 8 months to a year to get paid for the project it's probably not worth it.

The main thing on my side is I have tons of other ideas, so it's not really the end of the world if the 25MM doesn't get launched.

I received an email recently asking about the ZXL - I don't think there will be anymore of them after these few pending orders are sent out as it's been a slower seller than anticipated. After reading some posts on Reddit I see that the Zeal failures seem to have really scared people away from zirconia. I don't have the influencing power to change public perception so it's a loss I will have to bear.

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, perhaps CE cert, maybe something else.

This is true for the ZXL but it is 20mm.

I stopped selling them a-la-carte so that I could make a few dollars off the coil sale, but mostly so they would arrive ready to use and to simplify the experience for shoppers. Some bought units without the coil but had trouble installing, so I figured due to the friction fit assembly it was better for me to do the install and send then out completed.

But potentially I could make some exceptions for international shoppers, although previously the issue was international shoppers had a hard time sourcing the electronics, which is another reason I stopped selling them without them lol. What a circle :freak:

Any time estimate on shipping out recent ZX preorders? No rush, I'm just excited.

I'm flying home on Saturday so hopefully get them out next week.

First time long time. . . I'm in!(ZX)
How does this mini beast do with Hash? any OGs care to weigh in on any tips and tricks for us round 3s? I know I need a mug and a handle, but any little subtle nuances that separate this vape from the rest? I love when Ryan gets technical : )
Also don't know how to @ anyone just yet.

Just an FYI @invertedisdead that I was drawn to the ZX because of its size. I think if you went with a smaller wireless and stick to the diffuser that you believe works just as well but is cheaper to make, you'll have more orders than the 25 mm. You went with the diffuser because that's what everyone voted on, but if you attached a price to them I think your results may have varied. From the comments I've read here, it sounds like everyone would buy the smaller version whereas some voiced opposition towards the big guy. The world has plenty of giant heavy hitters, I would stick to your niche of a smaller, healthier/better made vape with phenomenal flavor. Just my .02.
