Also, would you guys recommend the Pax for someone who would be using it while caddying? During the summers I caddy almost everyday and in the past would use a one hitter to light up on the course. Now i'm thinking about switching to a Pax but am concerned with its stealth? How much does it smell when it is heating up or being used? I'm worried golfers might be able to smell it in my pocket while its heating up or on. Thanks for everyones advice.

absolutely. get 2 mentos gum conatainers and make it really stealth. or look at the "don pax" cigar skin on ebay. i have both they are both super stealthy. or use the "don pax" skin with a mentos gum cover for the mouth piece and oven. in my opion that would be ideal...looks like a cigar while your hitting your pax. use a mentos gum cap over the mouth piece, and oven lid and it will be sealed after use.

^Could you post a picture? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you guys are talking about.
basically, open a shallow drawer.
put your pax in the drawer mouth piece up.
push drawer closed untill it touches the pax enough to hold it upright.
put charger pad on the top of the mouthpiece.
keeps it super clean when you charge it because the residue doesn't drip into the mouthpiece.

How worried do I need to be about smell while the unit is heating up, being used, and cooling down?
look up mentos gum. you can get it anywhere for about $1.50. buy 2, you want the caps. with a bit of modifying, you can put one on the top & bottom and it'll keep it from smelling. id post pics but I Cant from my phone.

totally depends on the stink factor of the material you will use but generally less then a spliff and more then a MFLB I'd daresay :2c:

Can you elaborate a bit on how I would use the mentos gum containers? I was thinking about using these bags for storage in my pocket while caddying.

Here's a link to the original post about the Mentos caps. I find they keep smell down to a minimum when it is in your pocket not being used.

It varies depending on what strain you are using, but the Pax can be downright stinky when in use. Obviously it would be better outdoors, but indoors in a confined space the smell can linger quite a while. If it were me, I would do some outdoor smell tests with friends that aren't vaping with you (so they can smell it better than you) before risking it at your job.

The wind may be enough to dissipate the smell, but I have been amazed a couple times when my wife has been able to smell me hitting the Pax from across the yard on a windless day. Better safe than sorry.

I had my Pax in my pocket at my god daughters birthday party and it must've rubbed wrong and the mouthpiece came out and it turned on.

I was outside in the middle of the summer and told by numerous people that I reeked lol. The thing stinks. Its the only thing I really dislike about the pax. I'd rather have a bigger device that smelled less. I could cover up something the size of say a solo, but theres no hiding the smell the pax can put off at times

try wrapping a large rubber band anound it sideways. a wide one will cover the mouthpiece and keep the oven lid tight.
also, make sure theres nothing on the upper lid of the oven.

Indoors...i'd be concerned about smell, but outdoors not so much. It does stink though

Fits the Pax perfectly. When the unit is in the case it is about the size of the Solo, but smell proof.

Obviously no way around the smell in use. My main complaint, as well...but minor considering its benefits

So what other neat tricks are there for the Pax? I ordered one from VapeWorld and it should be here Tuesday or Thursday (so excited!!).

I heard to get the best results vaping you need to pack the oven tightly so it's actually sort of overflowing? Does this match up with your experiences?

Also, I usually use light loads, like just enough for a few hits, not like 20. I'm thinking of either A, putting a SS screen in the oven (I've seen a video on YouTube with the Pax "how to vape efficiently") and putting small amounts or B, just packing it all the way and putting mentos caps on the end between my 3-4 hit sessions and not worrying about burning off most of the flavor. I'm not sure which yet, what are your experiences with this?

^^use smaller amounts with a 3/4" ss screen folded in half placed on top of load. This gives a springy action that packs down tightly no matter the amount. This method works best for vapor production, imo. I tend to use the screen majority of the time unless I am packing a huge load where it overflows on its own.

Has anyone else had the problem where the LED will turn red while on the charging dock but when you take it off, the LED stays off? Im talking about when I have the mouth piece out the pax doesn't start to heat up and there is not purple LED. When i take the mouth piece off it doesnt show me the temp setting either and the LED remains off. I did notice that the pax stayed hot for a long time after using it the last time.

I can't say I've had that problem. i would contact Ploom about that issue.
maybe a firmware issue?

Yeah, I don't even know what going on with it right now. At this point I feel like all hope is gone for my pax. Ive tried cleaning out the mouth piece sensor part with no luck.

was done quite often early along the thread I seem to remember.
I think there was O rings on top and bottom that created this behavior and were exposed to break when shoved to hard
