I saw a post where they took a screen and curled it to take up some space at the top of the oven. Good luck.

yea you just need an adapter.
and treat your pax kindly if your in aus. i am as well and mine stopped working after 2 months of use and i cant get a refund/warranty since im in aus :(

If mine gets fuct then I can have a replacement sent to my family in the US. I feel for ya bro. Where abouts in OZ are you? I'm a yank stuck in Oz.

I'm like others who bought off fleabay but it's a genuine Pax by Ploom. If it shits itself do I say I got it off Vapeworld and give them the SN? I'm also in Australia but can have any replacements sent to my family's US address. Do they want the damaged one back to get a replacement?

What other genuine authorized dealers can I say I got it from for them to honor the warranty? Do they know what SN's they sold who which reseller? Sorry, trying to cover all bases here. $300 bucks including the shipping and handling is alot to get stuck with a dead unit with a great warranty.

Can someone tell me whats the best way to smoke wax with this? I tried it last night and I didn't feel it. I also didnt really pack it all the way like i normally do. Could that be the reason why I didnt feel it? does it need to be sandwiched really good?

I'm currently in a hard dilemma. Pax or Solo? I love the Pax look and I heard good thing about strong hits but what do you people think I should pick for my first vape? I've been smoking bongs, joints and such for the last decade but now I'm starting to feel it over my lungs and body so it's time to switch!

I heard it's tough to take hits on the Pax, is it true? I mean do you have to suck really hard to get a big hit? How is it? If you had to tell cons about it what would they be?

Thanks guys! This place is awesome!

If you suck hard on either the Pax or the Solo, you will be disappointed. Both have noticeably restricted draws. The secret is to draw hard enough to feel resistance, and no harder.

The Pax is a much better on-the-go device. It looks innocent, although it stinks like a well-used pipe. It's easy to carry and conceal. It can be finicky and most people have to perform frequent cleaning. Also, the Pax is a stash-eater.

The Solo is portable but not too pocketable, and to use it without detection requires some kind of camouflage. On the other hand, it doesn't stink like the Pax, and the flavour from it is far superior. Maintenance is easy, basically requiring you to clean the resin out of the stem once in a while. Finally, the Solo is easy on your stash.

Thanks for the info, that's all I needed to know. I just needed a confirmation that I should go with the Pax ;-) I'm already a stash eater MYSELF haha so I don't need a tool that will eat my stash even more. I don't mind the portability factor / stealth factor since it's to use around the house, and in the living room while watching tv or playing something. So I'll be alright with it :p

If you are using it at the house do you really need a portable? There are some pretty good desktop vapes that outclass both the Pax and Solo. I thoroughly miss my LSV.

As far as a complete portable package goes the Pax is tough to beat though. Thick hits, large oven, decent battery, durable, and small enough to take anywhere. I don't use anymore herb in the Pax than I did with my previous vapes. A .2 or .3 has always been my dosage and with the Pax I don't have to reload in the middle of a sesh. The solo has it beat on flavor and price.

I'd still be hesitant calling the Pax a stash killer. As usual I think it depends on the user. I pack small ovens with a screen on top and I conserve pretty well, but I guess there are still other vapes out there that can be more efficient.

We're here to fuck shit up.
It all depends on what one considers a stash killer? I can get away with using about a half a gram a day in the Pax. This does not seem like a lot to me at all. It may seem like a lot to others though.

i wish i just used .5 a day haha! More like 1.5 a day foe me.
Well, I did say a half a g in the Pax.... That has nothing to do with the other g I use with LSV when I get home from work. :rofl:Admittedly, there is usually another head vaping with me, but I'd say I use about a g a day for myself.

how is the LSV BTW?
Awesome! All my other vapes are collecting dust. If I didn't have to leave my house, I wouldn't even use the Pax. I am awaiting a Cloud EVO so I'm excited to see how that compares to the LSV.

Wow, major derail. Sorry.

Does it still vape evenly through the oven when you're tilting the bottom piece whilst drawing?

You packing in tight or are you filing the whole bowl loosely with the .2g?

20mins to clean thoroughtly and lubricate every couple of days doesn't seem that much of a inconvenience to me, considering the benefits this unit provides. . . . does nobody remember cleaning out gunged up pipes? I think a little rittulistism is a good thing for something so revered ;)

Tweek, you also state that one hould look into the possible adverse affects of charging it up with a converter. . . . . I thought Pax said that anywhere between 9 and 18 volts would charge adequately. Please advise on this if I have this wrong, much appreciated.

Let me know how the LSV compares to cloud. I have been thinking about getting an LSV. Mostly at home I vape with my EQ through a waterpipe only. No bags anymore so the logical extension seems an LSV. I am too damn cheap to get a cloud.

I'm totally anal about it ;-)

I use this for my all day vape, every 2 days I clean everything thoroughly, including having at it at the oven walls with a tiny chizel. (stops it smelling like a pipe) Then there's the cleaning and lubing of the mouthpiece to body to avoid the temp settings coming on during a heating cycle due to the poor contact if dirty.

I like a clean and tidy Pax ;-)

I hear you. It takes me about 20 minutes as well to thoroughly clean my Pax. I am a pretty neat and tidy person overall so I take pride in my cleaning sessions. My girlfriend calls me a slave to my Pax as I clean it every 4-6 loads. I have never used the lube though as I very rarely if ever experience the temp light issue.

I've fallen in love with my Pax hooked up to my bong. So much so that I almost resent having to use it without the bong in those portable moments for which most of us have bought the pax for. It's really amazing. And considering the smell of the pax often detracts from the discreteness that its appearance provides sometimes I wonder if I should just get the LSV and save the vaping for home. That said, if you've got a bong and dont hook up the pax youre really missing out. Im really high and just rambling right now so forgive me. Still love this little thing. Just wish it had capsules sorta like the inhalator and definitely wish the smell was much less.

Edit: Woops, forgot part of what I was going to say

This morning I cleaned my pax (very thoroughly) and when I finished I went to turn it on real quick to heat out any left over iso, but it didn't turn on. I definitely hadn't used all the battery. I put it on the charger and it started orange showing its charging but quickly turned green, but that green began flashing. It still wouldn't charge and still wouldnt turn on. Eventually I gave up and began to even more thoroughly clean it to inevitably send it back and after rinsing it under water than drying it off (prior to beginning to clean again), when I went to take the mouthpiece out for cleaning, IT TURNED ON! I really thought it was dead after reading about others with the same problem and it wouldnt turn on or charge, but now its on and I just used it and I'm high as shit. Hope it was a freak thing and its not dying on me.

Edit 2:

Also forgot to mention during that miracle baptism where water made it work, I also dropped it from pretty high onto a hardwood floor. Wasnt even mad because I knew it was a goner anyway. Turns out that drop was probably the thing that knocked shit back into place

I have been reading here for a while. Also, I love my pax so much. It will be one year old in about 2 weeks. Keeping it clean (im really meticulous about it) has helped alleviate most every common problem I have read about. I highly recommend the pax and highly recommend keeping it clean.

However, I have a new problem, and I was curious if anyone else has had it too. My mouthpiece is stuck in the 'off' position. With a paper clip bent into a very small tight hook, I tried prying it out. The plastic part that touches your lips actually slid off the metal tube. Now the metal tube is stuck in the chamber, and it is on. The only way to turn it off is to slide the plastic part back on. I have tried pulling the metal tube out with needle nose pliers, and it is literally stuck down in there and wont come out for anything.

Is there anything I can do, has anyone else had this happen? Looks like it might end up heading back to ploom soon..

^^ The reason the mouthpiece turns it off is because it has the magnet in the plastic. You can use another magnet to temporarily turn it off.

I had this happen when making water tool attachments. Freaked out. I got it out with thin nosed pliers but it had restriction. I later found out about the spring and tab. I am pretty sure you can poke the tab (look down the sides of the metal tube, prob cant see it but it is on the other side of the temp light ) with a paperclip etc to help release. Or you can also open it and release he catch internally.

Mine works perfectly again btw! :) stay clam you'll get it.

Newbie here...just ordered my first vape & went with the Pax...40th Bday gift to myself :)
I am trying to read through the thread but it might take me awhile to catch up.
In the meantime, do I grind up my herbal material before packing? Prob a very silly question but I had to ask.
Any suggestions on a grinder? I can't believe after more than 20 years, I never owned one.

Yes you should. You don't need a grinder. Make sure your material is dry, then put some into a small closed container along with a quarter. (I use pill bottles.) Shake for a minute or until "ground" to your taste.
