Hey, I haven't read this thread in months but I have a question.

My Pax has the issue where it goes in temp setting mode in normal use and now it's persisting even after regular cleaning of the inside of the tube with those metal wires with bristles rubbed with alcohol swabs, the outside and inside of the mouthpeice tube and lubricating it with glyceryn (I'd rather not use the antifreeze lubricant of the company since I don't want to vape antifreeze). I got used to always pressing against the mouth piece all the time to keep it working but it gets really annoying, as soon as I let go it stops working.

I remember reading about a "spring cleaning" and use those toothpick sorta things (TSTs). Can anyone show me which post show what the spring cleaning is and what you do with the TSTs?

Thanks

We're here to fuck shit up.
Maybe some of the knock off brands have notches?

The knockoffs don't seem to be knockoffs. They seem to be official units that slipped out the back door of the Chinese factory or fell off the back of the truck. Ovens should all be the same.

I have only recently been made aware of this notches debate. I have had a PAX since they were first released. I had the original, and a replacement a few months later. Neither PAX had a notch.

vapeguy, the unit involuntarily going into temperature setting mode is the primary issue that everyone experiences sooner or later with the PAX. There is no satisfactory solution and it appears to be a design issue. AFAIK, you can make it less of an issue by cleaning the unit a lot and lubing the mouthpiece. Otherwise you just have to wiggle the mouthpiece around to complete whatever circuit is being broken

I remember reading about a spring cleaning and uses those toothpick sort of things to improve the issue, anyone have a link to the instructions for that?

By the way why doesn't Ploom revise the Pax to solve that contact issue? It would make such a huge difference and is an easy to solve issue for a very annoying problem.

Edit: I Searched the internet for Pax spring cleaning and found a video and info on how to do it and I used those toothpick sort of brushes and it works infinitely better now, for the first time in a long time it actually keeps heating when I let go of the mouthpiece, at least now I know what to do when the issue returns.

Hi all.

I have been reading a lot of posts regarding the Pax on this forum and I appreciate the insights--especially on cleaning it---here is a great video on youtube on how to clean your Pax by the Vape Critic.

I have finally decided to register and post on the forum because I am in a debacle with my Pax. I purchased my brand new pax in January '13 from an eBay seller because they had the best price-$219.99 shipped; The eBay listing advertised a brand new pax with a 10 year warranty from the manufacturer.

I have used my Pax happily for 8 months without many hiccups that I could not solve by searching this forum.

Last week I used the device until battery drained completely (I forgot to bring my charger on a car trip). The battery was drained for two days before I got home and put it on the charger. When I did, the indicator light did not light up---it is just blank---no indicator light at all.

So I searched this forum and tried to put it on its side to charge, leave it on the charger for a long time to trickle charge, and flipped it 180 and see if that worked. Nothing worked.

I contacted Pax customer support and was informed through the verification of my serial number and receipt that my Pax's warranty has been voided because I did not purchase it through an authorized retailer.

I have also attempted to contact the eBay user I purchased the device from in January but the user is not registered on eBay anymore but their email address is associated with another user id. I am unable to get the new user id that is associated with the email address because I have not completed a transaction on eBay with that user id. I have sent two emails to the email address that I purchased the device from with no response.

I do not normally play the victim card but I am at an impasse here. I am out $220 and I have no vaporizer.

Any help would be appreciated in any form.

Thank you.

Hey guys, I'm about to post my Pax in the classifieds but I had a quick question. I've had my PAX for just under a year and looking at the oven I saw that there is a small patch (around the corner and a bit of the bottom of the oven) there is a dark stain. I've gone at this stain for about 30 mins with ISO already and I am fairly confident that it will not budge. My question is, will this unit be safe to ship? Everything else is spotless besides these areas in the oven and I don't want to ship it if it would risk detection.

Magic Eraser and you're good to go.

I have had the Pax for about a month now, and I absolutely love this thing. Roomate has a volcano, so this isn't my first vape experience, but the portability is hard to beat. Regular cleanings, and no problems yet....knock on wood.

Please help - just got a Pax and it came with a sticky mouthpiece. I know I need to lube it up, but I am unable to remove it. I was able to remove it once, but now I am unable to after trying pretty extensively. Unfortunately I bought it (new) off of eBay like a cheapass. Penny wise and pound foolish.

Does it pop up at all, or is it stuck in the retracted position?

I'm not sure what to tell you if it is popping up. Never had it get stuck in that position.

Is it possible to get some pliers to get a better grip on the mouthpiece and pull (gently of course)?

If the mouthpiece is popped up, there should be nothing that holds it in place other than friction. So it should pull off if you can get a good enough grip (in theory). Don't force it though, I don't want you to break it because of my advice :uhoh:.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

As far as it staying in retracted position, are you pushing down gently? There are 2 clicks if you push down too hard. The first one seats the mouthpiece, and it should stay in place if you don't continue pushing down. But if you keep pushing down, there will be a second slight click that will disengage the mouthpiece. So if you push down too hard, it comes right back up. I mention this because a friend of mine kept pushing the mouthpiece too hard, and he thought it was broken because it wouldn't stay closed. Turned out he was pushing too hard.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
It does pop up. Besides not being able to remove it, it is difficult to get it to stay in the Retracted position...

While this might not be the way other people will tell you to do this, I have found putting a drop or two of ISO around the edge, not too much and you have to be careful not to get the ISO near the temperature button (tilting the Pax is the easiest way to make sure this doesn't happen) and then keep clicking the mouthpiece until you work the ISO into the tube area and it releases the mouthpiece.

Also 2 Paces, I do NOT recommend using pliers to pull on the mouthpiece only from personal experience have I seen that this does not work. The reason it is stuck is because the sliding ring on the MP is stuck in/ not moving freely enough to release the mouthpiece. This is why dropping a little bit of ISO in the area SHOULD release the MP.

Also as a heads up, have some q-tips or some type of cloth handy to absorb the excess ISO that you will have left over after the MP pops out.
