Having something strange happening with my replacement Pax. I got this back from Ploom about a month ago, it's brand new. The first time I cleaned it, I did it like my old one, I take the mouthpiece off and start cleaning. Well this new Pax continues to heat even when the mouthpiece is removed. I never had to before, but now I have to take the mouthpiece off, let it heat up and sit for 5 minutes with the mouthpiece off. It should not continue to heat with the mouthpiece removed. Another thing that is happening and not really an issue, but is strange, the temp adjuster button flashes sometimes while it's heating. I have never seen this. I actually took video of the button flashing with the mouthpiece removed, once I get it uploaded to my computer I will post it.
I love this device but after a year and a half with it, I think I am finally done. I can not in good conscious recommend this device to anyone- it is just too problematic. Please Ploom, if you are reading this, make your device the absolute best portable vape on the market and GIVE IT A POWER SWITCH!!! For the love of all that is sacred, ditch the stupid, fancy mouthpiece power switch system. Ploom is great company, that is for sure. They serviced me very well and I am sure if I called them about this issue I would get a brand new one sent out. But it is a shame that the downfall of this device is this "power switch" mouthpiece. I may actually screw the warranty- because what good is it really if it's always in the mail- and try to install an on/off switch on my own. It really is the only downfall of the Pax, but it is a fatal flaw. Sad day here...
the sensor is dirty clean around the inside spring to fix ,
and i agree ploom needs to update this device the button placement being so close to the vapor pathway is a big issue (those using the lube i use wont have that issue however)
personally i like to see them make bigger model one that would hold a 5000 battery have a bigger oven
a metal divide in the middle of the oven with control to heat left or right side or both sides of the oven
and a fourth heat setting around 435-440 f . not going to happen but would love to see it done.
if you do end up taking it apart there is another battery that can fit 3100 battery and you might as well try my mods i came up with early on .
razor foil screen instead of there screen adds air flow small o ring to fit on inner stem (find these in auto parts used for carbs) with this vapor would not escape spring could never get dirty nor sensor
use electrical silicon on the chip (you be making it water proof ) than wrap and sew a piece of Kevlar with thin mica on sides of oven .than wrap another sheet of Kevlar around chip and battery(use hole punch to line up led light on chip this also provides some airflow to chip.)Kevlar acts as a heat shield .the mica plus kevlar around the oven keeps the heat on the oven so no heat loss less battery use
anyways go for it
