Guess I didn't communicate that very well.
In stock form I felt like the goo/oil/reclaim was just freely running down the tube making its way to the mouthpiece and causing problems. In effect I added a ball of screen to the inside of the tube in hopes it would wick up the goo before it could get away from the heat zone. One thing I did notice is that now when I dump a spent oven out a ball of goo soaked abv stays stuck to the wick. I'm not sure a single layer of screen will hold much oil/goo but please try and post how you feel about it.

This is probably already on here somewhere, but I figured just in case it isn't or for anyone who is just getting into it this could seriously shorten your learning curve. I have experimented with the Pax for a couple weeks and this is the method that I got the hands down best results with...

I suppose it should be noted that I wrote this in this forum and then copied it to the grasscity forum in the hopes that it would reach more people. My name is the same in both forums.

I know that I am of a younger generation, however the rap artist Juicy J has been posting pictures of him and his Pax on Instagram. He calls it his "Trippy Cannon". To some this means nothing, however it means that the Pax is getting mainstream attention from a well known public figure.

So I tried something new with the Pax today. Instead of grinding my herb really fine, I just threw a few little nugs in the oven to see what kind of result I would have.. I set it to high temp, and it gave me great vapor production, and a great high, I probably got about 10 good hits with until I started getting the already vaped weed taste.. Anyone else ever try that instead of grinding? Thanks..

When I am on the go and without a grinder I do this. I stick three nugs in and it gets nice hits, not any noticeably better, probably a little worse if you ask me. I wait 4 or 5 hits then mash it down and it all crunches and crumbles, then I go 5 more and stir. Its pritty much identical at that point to the abv you see from ground bud.

yeah def works in a pinch, people shouldnt think they need a grinder, once it dries up you can just crush it into dust anywhoo. Jason Lee? Are you a fan of his work or what

The real coup would be if they would make it so that the dock can plug into a USB outlet. USB chargers are Ubiquitous. Not to mention that means we cold use battery packs like the mophie external batteries to charge the fucking thing anywhere. A $10 inverter would be just as good as this thing!

Yo, so...
I wanna rock some oil (no flower beds) in my pax and also my eq I figured id get some steel wool and cut to fit the pax. What type of S wool is best for this?
I see different grades and I presume you would want fine and compact wool, sound about right?
I've also seen the volcano pads but they seem way overpriced, any good reasons why I should pay for them and not just generic s wool?

What are peoples experience like with oil on wool in the pax? make a mess? work well? etc?

I thought they looked fun and was gonna get some to try in my Eq, and of course im gonna chuck a few of them in my pax for fun,see what happens.

Stolen info on the ceramic discs from the SSV thread:

there are a few ways I use the discs.
I like to stack two of them, and dab oil on the top one
For very liquid oils, I put a disc in wand, lay a screen on it... top it with second disc, and I dab on the top disc.
for thicker oils I sandwich the dab betweeen discs.
for full melts, I use only one disc- I put abv bed in wand, add disc.. and let a bit of abv "seal the space" around top.. and I dab onto that one disc!

Does anyone have the problem where they pull in little pieces of herb because the screen won't stay in position, or any suggestions to help this? Even after making sure that it's secure, sometimes mid session I'll have that pleasant feeling of some on my tongue, and find that the screen is slightly rotated on its long axis. I've had the Pax for a little over a month, with daily use, and this seems to happens every other day.

Your "screen" plate should be slightly warped along length of the flat plane... but perfectly symmetrical in the way it sits on it's long rotation.
When in place it sort of locks in place.
Clean your unit fully.. and inhale through to be sure there is no current sediment.
install plate as described so it does not fall out.
Use Pax as directed... and when it is time to empty it... let it cool first so all pieces reach even temps...
then empty load carefully as to not dislodge the plate... unless you are ready to perform the same ritual again.
This is the time when a plate moves... when you are emptying.
Also, be sure the herb is not pure bone dry dust.. or surely some will always escape through.

i use some regular screen cut to fit underneath the pax screen, helps but still not foolprof so i am going to experiment with a rougher grind

Adhere to what Vitolo said above. I've never had this problem and have owned my Pax for a year.

any ideas on how to lube the pax without the lube bloom gives you? i'm on vacation and the mouthpiece is sticking to the point where i can't even get it to turn purple. have some wd-40 and vegetable oil here but i don't want to go ruining something because i need to use it on vacation. (even though i really want to)

Can you get some Qtips or rubbing alcohol?

Whenever the unit won't turn purple, I take a Qtip, take just enough cotton off so that it fits into the mouthpiece tube and stuff it in the tube and work it up & down to clean it out. Then I do the same with the other end of the Qtip. It always resolves the issue for me. I actually do this before each charge, and my units always go to purple.

If you can get some rubbing alcohol, you could soak your mouthpiece in it in a plastic bag for a while. That should also help clean out the mouthpiece of anything that is stopping the connection.

I would not suggest putting WD40 or veggie oil in your Pax. But I have never had to use any lube.

I wouldn't scoff at using anything food grade.... that's just me... vege oil or glycerin.

but yeah.. clean it too!

how do you guys go about bringing your pax to a concert or event? brought mine to a met game / nas concert last night and had no problems through a security metal detector wand, but was thinking how i'd go about it if i was questioned. mp3 player? tobacco vaporizer? also, actually using it around a large group of people in stealth.. turning it on in your pocket and then going for it? it reaks pretty good when you turn it on.. but actually vaping i didn't notice anyone turning their heads.

A friend of mine suggested something to me, to find a way to put the Pax in a cup, and use it by hitting the straw, so I have been messing around with that. It would keep the smell in the cup and hitting it would be as discrete as drinking a drink.

My worries are the straw heating up though.. Not really a safe plastic to heat up I am sure.

Might want to throw a bounce sheet in the cup with it if you're worried about aroma. IME that would even throw most canine detectors awry.
