you save the shipping trouble but they will ask you to break the screen and send them a photo of it . so pretty useless after.

the whole point of getting a replacement is that the current one you have isn't working so it doesn't really matter if you have to send them a pic of the screen damaged, unless you are just working one over on the company to get a new one.

I was responding to the idea that no company offers warranty repair without sending the original in.

I've had my PAX for 7 months now and it's still going strong. I get the temp light issue every 2-5 ovens, but cleaning with an alcohol moistened pipe cleaner has always solved that issue.

I took it skiing here in Colorado several times this year and it's very important to keep the PAX warm or the battery seems to die abormally fast. Vaping on a chairlift really makes me appreciate how portable and windproof (screw pipes!) the PAX is.

I look forward to future improvements from Ploom. In my mind, an exterior rubber button seems like a no-brainer at this point with all the mouthpiece issues.

Did a battery life test on an empty oven and it lasted about one hour on medium until it would do the red light on power-up (three 20 minute segments, then red light).

Hey everyone! Has anyone tried using Vaseline instead of the lubricant sold by Ploom? From what I have read, Vaseline seems safe and it is a lot cheaper than the lube sold by Ploom. Thanks in advanced!

I know what everyone says about packing your herb in the pax for best results and people have been using mesh screens and folding them for packing with smaller loads.I was wondering is it safe to do this, and does it matter what material they are, brass, steel, or other types?

I use the stainless steel screens. I've read from quite a few places that the brass screens could have lead added to them to make them more pliable so I avoid those.
I've tried packing the oven full and prefer smaller loads with the screen because it is more efficient and I don't have to stir the load.
Another thing I'm experimenting with at the moment is after I've added the herb and the screen, I add some cotton gauze into the oven and squeeze a few drops of ejuice in there. This is for ultimate stealth as the flavored ejuice hides the smell of the herb.

thanks evilistics, yea Id like to use a mesh screen but was just scared of chemicals or other added things to them, and would rather just be a little less efficient than vape sketchy material.

A Pax direct from China for $100? WTF?!
There's plenty of ones that don't have any pics of their own, just Ploom's.

Remember, it's easy to make something look like a Pax

but it's what's inside (and the 10 yr warranty) that counts!

No if you live outside North America, unfortunately.

If those are anything like the "knockoff" cheaper Vapir NO2's that were just as good as the retail ones (i can speak for that), i'd totally get one! $100 is way more reasonable considering the annoying problems it has!

Shpooding Time.
you look around some of those are 50 bucks, and sense pax is made in china I can see them making bootleg ones with the same components. Makes me sad, but I am interested to see how these stack up against a real pax. I found a few different color options on their site too, theres a bright ass lime green that I want :) Wonder If I could buy one just for the shell

Isnt alibaba one of those sites where you have to buy in bulk though? Where are yu guys finding these with a minimum order of 1?

If i can just get one for $50-100 i would get it just to compare against my friends PAX.

Yeah, some of the listings are for multiple pieces only, but others are just for single units.

also keep in mind, if you try to order from Alibaba, you will also be facing over $20 shipping charge and can take a few weeks to get to you. I used to order ecig parts from them a few years ago. The price is less expensive over all than Ploom, but you don't know if it's going to work right, and there is nothing you can do if it doesn't. Quality control is a real issue with this kind of stuff. I had to learn the hard way with my ecig gear, I still have a bunch of new Ego style and 510 style e cig kits, just sitting in a box in my basement.

We're here to fuck shit up.
Suspect at best. I'm all good with my Pax from Ploom. There are tons of counterfeit items on Alibaba & Ali Express that are made with substandard materials. When it comes to a woman's "Louis Vuitton" bag, a pair of shoes, or a watch, that's one thing, but when you are talking about something that you are going to be using to inhale anything into your body, you want some type of assurance. That nice bright green paint could absolutely be lead based. Who knows what's going on inside? Is any risk to your health worth a couple hundred bucks?

Basically, what I'm saying is that I'd sooner roll up and smoke a 3 gram blunt rather than try out that Pax.

Edit: Yes, I know that the Pax is produced in China, but it is produced under Ploom's specifications and then shipped to the US. Even if these Pax are the real deal, they may be rejects that didn't make it through QC for whatever reason.

2 Paces

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. I got my first Pax last July, and bought my second one the next day. Love the unit. I have read this entire thread since last June, but haven't had anything to add.

But now I think I have some useful info. I found something that works great as a Pax cap. Mentos gum comes in a container that looks like a shorter Pax. The container has a lid that can be taken off the container. There is a collar connected to the lid that needs to be cut off. This lid fits perfectly on the mouthpiece end of the Pax. It snaps onto the end snugly, and stays in place unless removed. There is a ridge of plastic on the inside of the cap. This needs to be cut off (I used an exacto knife) in order for the cap to fit snugly on the oven end of the Pax.

This picture shows the container, the cap & collar removed from the container, the lid with the collar removed (with the ridge of plastic still in place), and a Pax with a cap on each end.

This shows one cap with the ridge intact (fits the mouthpiece end), one with the ridge shaved off (fits the oven end). The better you shave the ridge, the more snug the cap can fit the oven end.

Hope people find the info useful. The caps fit very snugly, and while not perfect, they do contain the smell very well. I leave a Pax in one of my jackets a lot, and my wife tells me that the jacket starts to stink after a while. Since I've been using the caps, it no longer smells to her.
