So random Pax owners, how is this thing holding up?

Warranty issues? Are they shipping out new units with all the warranty issues I have seen in this thread, now fixed?

Battery Life? Good?

Quirks? Random plastic or strange things happening?

With so many small parts, any unit will have issues (look at cell phones), but I wanted to hear a bit of consensus before I drop 200+ USD.

They seem to have worked out the quirks from the initial launch units, upgraded mouthpieces and lube for mp tube. Pretty stable unit. I'd say either buy one or wait for the cera (who knows how much longer til it's shipping tho!) plus the cera is bound to have its quirks upon its release. All in all I'm more than fully satisfied with my pax. One of the best purchases I've ever made. Plus ploom customer service is awesome to work with if you do have an issue.

The battery life is the only issue I have. How many "ovens" should you get from a full battery? I got around 6 is that normal? I was expecting more.

how hot does the draw tube get? Are there any extenders, like a small glass stem, to cool it off?

Anyone do a compete air-path vs. toxic chemicals breakdown?

Some people have complained about a hot mouthpiece but I personally have never had that happen. It's all about how you draw off it I guess. No extenders or anything as of yet but ploom assures me they have some cool accessories on the horizon. I and some others have made adapters and accessories to fit them to water pipes or other rigs. I don't believe there's any kind of toxic chemicals coming through the pax. The draw tube and oven are all stainless so that makes for a clean vapor path.

The vapour exits through plastic not stainless steel. This add a taste to the experience. You can taste this yourself by drawing through a mouthpiece alone, provided that it is clean so there's no resin taste.

One of the first things I did when I got my Pax was pop out the MP and draw through to check for taste. It was there then and I can still taste it. I don't find it offensive or particularly strong, but of all the vapourizers I've used, the Pax delivers the poorest flavour by far.

I guess there might be a bit of a flavor offset from the mp, but to say the poorest flavor by far?!?!?!? I find that on low my pax is one of the best flavored of my vapes, and I own a volcano and a mflb among others.

Best $250 I ever spent. I liked it so much I bought a blue one as a companion to the purple one I got back in October. No issues with the vapor path; I researched it and Ploom claims it to be all medical grade SS (I haven't had any independent lab testing, but offgassing was one thing I worried about, too). Ploom also claims that the plastic on the mouthpiece is food-grade, from what I remember.

I think the batt life is good; I get about two hours of semi-continuous use per charge. I recently read about Li-Ion batts and BatteryUniversity says not to let it completely run down, so I trade off my Paxes before it blinks red.

Quirks include the "temp light" issue, which has been covered extensively in this thread, but it seems to have been resolved by the new MP lube. When you do pull the trigger, be sure and ask Ploom for some of it, because apparently it's not being shipped out routinely with the new units.

Any taste, especially plastic is huge. 250 USD, and not perfect?....NO WAY.

Not to be rude, but no vape at all will be perfect. Plastic taste goes away, but you will find that with any portable vape at first (I had a Puffit) Every vape also requires cleaning.$250 is a steal for how great the product and customer service is. Don't be cheap the Pax is worth it.

The pax is hands down the best portable herb vaporizer on the market! The cera may take that crown (when it gets released) but the cera is still not going to be anywhere near as stealthy and discreet! Plus it looks like a dildo! The pax is worth every penny that they ate asking for it.

I have three portables on the desk in front of me that never had the slightest taste of plastic about them: the MFLB, the FlashVAPE, and the Palm 2.0. The LB originally had a noticeable but pleasant woody taste that was gone quickly. The FV and P2 were completely taste-free and remain that way. Your idea of a steal and mine differ greatly since I can buy what I know to be excellent vapourizers for about half that, namely the three I just listed. None of them have the issues that the Pax has had, nor do I expect them to.

Personally I can't taste the plastic and only really dislike the taste at the end of a bowl or when it needs cleaning. I think the taste on low is great!

We refer to differences in opinion as "taste" for a reason. If you can't taste it, lucky you. I can, my wife can, my friends who have tried it can—and I always ask them to give an opinion before I share mine. Lots of other people here have mentioned it. It exists even if it doesn't bother you.

pakalolo,
I've had my Pax for about two months now and have used it daily. I've not regretted the purchase once. Now with the temp-light issue solved, I have no hesitation recommending it to anybody.

I agree that the taste suffers some in the Pax, but it doesn't taste bad by any means until you get the popcorn, which will not taste good in any vape. It will knock you on your ass, I can promise you that.

Pax customer service is great.
Now i have 2 mouth pieces to cycle between for worry free paxing.
Ive done 3 sessions with the lube. Cant taste anything different and its working as it should.
I will report back in 2 weeks with 0 cleaning and see how it holds up. Im confident it will be that perfect OTG vape for me now.

Great Scott!
Well day 1 with my pax I love it. I love getting 4 bowls out of it without needing extra batteries. I'm sure its got more in it as well, but I don't need to drain it to find out. Going to charge it now and hit it again in a bit. Really impressed with it. All this plastic talk has me stressing though. I don't personally TASTE any plastic. You would think it would be simple to test this shit and just verify that NO fumes were coming off it. If this vape is healthy, this is my favorite portable yet....SO FAR. That is always subject to change on long term review.

Any ideas how to be 100% sure there is no offgassing? With that peace of mind I'll be so very happy with this device.

Let me know when you find that perfect $250 portable vape - I want one too.

Yeah, come on, 250 dollars, it is as much as a iPod touch, or a new Iphone on contract. too much to go wrong, and comparatively, there still is not anything out there worthwhile, yet. Pax is getting close I imagine from this thread.

I never tasted plastic with mine...

Me either, but that doesn't mean there are no gasses. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this vape, I just want some kind of reassurance it is safe, more than just the people selling it telling me it is safe.
