so even with the new mouth piece, and after cleaning everything really good, I am still getting the temp setting light, and have to adjust the mouthpiece until it switches to heating...not sure what's up. Might be the first design flaw that none of the quick fixes are working to really fix?? not sure...

**I just sent them another email, for no other reason than to document my issue, since there is no record left in chat (that I know of) but there is if you email them through the support page on the website...

If you have the new one just a simple clean of the unit then dipping the bottom tube of the mouthpiece in some ISO, preferably 91%, then sticking it back into the unit repeatedly will work. Make sure you take the mp out and let all pieces dry. Ploom will tell you the same thing. They said a lot of people sent back units and a clean following those instructions fixed it 100% of the time.

If anyone else is interested, I've also figured out how the mouth piece activates the heat mode too. The ss tube of the mouth piece, when put on, completes a circuit by touching the inner tube with the outer tube that's spring loaded in the pax. If you use a paper clip or something to complete that circuit by connecting one tube to the other, it'll start heating up. So basically, the problem with the pax turning from heating to temp change modes is resin dirtying up the a small top portion of the inner tube and the small portion of the ss tube of the mouth piece that overlap when the mouth piece is up, and breaking that connection. It also gets really dirty because what ever amount of resin in the mouth piece transfers by the overlaping of the ss tube and the inner tube when you push the mouth piece back in, and gets deposited on the outside of the inner tube. As you guys know, that area is a pain in the ass to clean because of the tight space around the inner tube and the close proximity to the temp button, which doesn't like iso or resin. An easy fix for this on the next pax is to extend the inner tube a little bit, so there is more overlap/contact when the mouth piece is up. I don't know how much they can extend it because they need clearance to push the mouth piece back in. Better yet, how about they extend the ss tube of the mouth piece a little more beyond the bottom notch to create more contact. That way, it would fix our version of the pax too. One potential problem to this is putting more stress on the spring loaded mechanism, but hopefully, the worst thing it'll do is your mouth piece might pop out or off a little more enthusiastically. Another fix I hope they do is move that damn temp button away from the vapor path. That one won't be an easy fix.

Ok, enough rambling but I'm curious to know what you guys think.

I've seen it kind of happen on mine... It was green, and then for less than a second it flickered yellow like I took the mouthpiece out but then it went back to green, didn't interrupt my sesh at all.

I just closed and opened it a few times after I was done with my sesh while it was still hot and I haven't seen it happen since

Hey guys, first post.

I am super excited to try out the pax now that i've read through this entire forum ;). I ordered my amethyst pax from vapeworld on the 11th. I was told yesterday that they wouldn't even have them to ship until sometime next week. So, to all of you guys overnighting them, are you going directly through ploom? Or is it just that I got the amethyst color?

Got mine directly from Ploom. On Sunday evening it said it was backordered, on Sunday night it said it was available, I jumped on it and have been enjoying it all day.

You will get the new mouthpiece. I would order directly from ploom, or if you are looking for a free grinder, check out vw
I dont care much for the free grinder, i just prefer better service if there's a problem with my pax. Other than free grinder, no other difference? Warranty?

ploom warranties all authorized dealers
on another note has anyone received their replacement screens from VW yet?

So is there a consensus on heat setting? I've been starting off on medium and finishing off the pac on high. It seems to be working splendidly. Also, are you carrying loose in your pocket or do you have some kind of case? I have a nice crocodile pocket knife sheath that holds my Pax perfectly.

That's how mine started, a little flicker here and there. I have tried using the cleaning methods they recommend but we keep coming back to the "don't get iso on the temp button" and it's RIGHT THERE. so it's been a very stubborn issue to try to remedy. Since this seems to be a "resin" problem, I don't know how much pax can be blamed, since they are marketing these for tobacco use. Does tobacco create sticky resin in the same kind of way that would cause similar issues? I am not a tobacco user.

Screens from VW have been "guestimated" to go out mid Oct. according to the email they sent me.

Hello, all. Let me just preface by saying thank you all for the great information and sharing your experiences in the forum, and more specifically this thread. I would be kidding myself if I didn't admit that this is the main reason that I too have invested in the Pax, and am quite excited. I've used a few different vaporizers before, but never had one to call my own, so I thank everyone here for helping me make the decision.

Now last night I ordered from Ploom directly since I believe vapeworld was backordered. I received a confirmation email of shipment, but the tracking link returns an error. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Maybe it's just excitement getting the best of me, I really can't wait to get this bad boy !!

The message on USPS will update by tomorrow.

Loose cigarette tobacco doesn't cause much of a sticky resin, pipe tobacco, on the other hand, can cause quite a sticky residue depending in the type of tobacco used. The short answer is yes, tobacco can cause a resin similar to what we vape.

I did a quick clean today just to run through the process. I pushed a piper cleaner through and then wet the end of it with ISO and then scrubbed the inside. Seemed to work without possibly getting the temp button wet with ISO.

If I am really trying to conserve, I will start on low, and get the first few rounds on low, then step it up as vapor thins out. If I am running it on my Ion, I crank it up to high, or maybe a few hits on med, but def. up to high to finish.

Did you try closing and opening it while it's hot (after a sesh)

not right after a sesh, I'll try that next time. I have done it many times cold, and with Iso on the end of the tube.

Hi FC Forum,

Has anyone made any mods to the Pax to improve the ease of draw? If you could be so kind and reply/post photos - I would appreciate it. Also, did Ploom come out with a new/different cover for the Pax to address this issue?

What seems to be the best solution to use the Pax with a water pipe?

Best to all

Heat is as good as iso imo. Think about how you can clean the oven with a q-tip hot but it takes a sharp point to chisel it away when it's cold.

My mouthpiece is actually kind of slow/stiff when cold because I'm trying to see how long I can go without cleaning but so far doing the few clicks after cleaning the oven is working

Dude, at first glance I thought your avatar was a pair of boobs. :lmao:

As far as temp goes, I've been appreciating the low setting recently; tasty hits and I get nicely medicated. From there it's on to med, which takes up most of my session. Then I finish off with a few hits on red, sit back, and savor... :ko:

can i stick my male joint in there?
honestly not sure. just had some really stretchy tubing from my HI. i just remembered i have this little glass adapter i just had to try out, works pretty well.

i will take more detailed pics of the adapter in the morning.

I'm using some 1/2 soft high temp silicone to connect to my 14mm adapter.

I may order up some of those tiny dental brushes some kind person mentioned a while back.

EDIT: Just ordered said dental brushes

I agree with Joe on the the Q-tip idea. Often after a few rounds I notice a small amount of resin around the tube and wiping with a dry Q-tip while hot cleans the resin and resolves the problem. I WOULD NOT do what Ploom says and dip the mouth piece in iso. To me that just sounds like an invitation for a sticky temp button. Also whenever I do my weekly cleaning I like to take a Q-tip and lightly dip the tip in some 91% ISP and clean the top of the tube.
