Pax - All Models

Anyone else? I feel like this device is for noobs who are just dipping into the world of cannabis

I used to think this too, and that's why it took me so many many years to buy the Pax. I also agree that the flashy design draws a significant portion of new vape users. Directly to your experience and your comment, I think the fact that lots of new users start with the pax leads to the bad rep it has because they don't know how to use a vape or what to expect.

I just got my Pax 2 as well this month, and have zero issues blowing clouds on most temperature settings. Petal 1 doesn't give much exhaled vapor, but petal 2 gives a nice amount. Obviously 3 and 4 are cloud machines, and I usually stick with 3 through the entire oven.

Remember that this device is of the conduction heating family, and thus needs to be packed. Typically I'll fill the bottom with ground herb all the way up to the rim, then press it all into the oven. This not only makes for an easy "built in loading funnel", but ensures I get the right pack. I never have to stir and it always comes out evenly medium to dark brown.

Hope this helps!

Really disappointed in my PAX 2. The vapor cloud and overall experience doesn't match my other vape I was hoping to replace.

I've been a daily user of the Iolite WISPR E but the company looks to have gone out of business.

I bought a PAX 2 after much research but the experience just doesn't compare.

For those unaware, the Iolite runs for 10 min at 190°C / 374°F and then bumps up to 210°C / 410°F then shuts off.

The sweet spot is from 5 min to 15 min. Big clouds, very nice experience.

The PAX 2 never reaches that experience. I can barely see the cloud, unless I'm using it next to a sunlit window. Also the "smart" cool off means it never builds up temperature if I'm not moving it around and hitting often.

Lastly, the ABV is often slightly green, whereas with my Iolite it's always a medium brown.

It's a bummer considering I spent over $150 for this fancy pot... warmer.

Are you packing the oven tightly? The herb should be tamped down and there should be no empty space between lid and herb.
The first few hits may be a little whispy, but after that, you should have no problem getting big clouds.

By the time I finish a bowl, the abv is always very dark brown. You may have a faulty unit.

I've tried packing tightly but I ended up with more green ABV. I'm using the same stuff in both vapes, same grind. I've tried a rougher and finer grind.

Temp is turned up to the max.

I contacted support just now. I can't imagine this is how it's supposed to work.

Also make sure it is a genuine unit. A lot of fake pax around.

Joint is by far my fave. Love the taste, and the buzzy stone. Like my PAX 3 too as a second less favourable (feeling buzz) than the good ole joint.

Wow! I'm not even close with my PAX. Let's hope support steps up. Thanks for the perspective.
Mine smokes, it is an adventure for me to go to three, hahha, cough easy.

Support replied and besides a bunch of boilerplate stuff told me "Pack it tightly enough so that no material falls out if you were to shake your PAX with the oven lid off."

I tried that, along with a finer grind and had a much better experience.

Still not on par with the Iolite, but closer. After 10 min the device gets very hot and the vapor light so that seems to be the upper limit.

Mine definitely doesn't "smoke". I've only operated at the highest temperature.

Yours still doesn’t sound like it’s running hot enough…. I hope pax support steps up. I expect they will.

Don’t give up on this vape. It’s a solid convection vape.

I recently found a new use for my favorite case for Pax - I use it as a stand when I am loading with the raised mouthpiece. Works great, can’t believe it took me so long to use it this way!

Also bonus: at bottom of pic, you can see the CVP puck (currently vaped product) attached to the pax pusher after a session on level 2.
I will still be able to get another 2 sessions on the higher levels.

My goodness. That puck looks spent to me. And you get 2 more sessions of productive vape? Wow!

Are these still popular? I have one(PAX 2) I bought years back and there were some serious friction points I had with it. Did the PAX 3 provide significant improvements? I had designs for my own and if there still is not better dry herb vapes in the market I may seriously consider entering that business.

Thanks

There are many vapes superior to the Pax, DaVinci IQ2 is direct competitor with all the bells and whistles, but there are a lot of portable vapes that use more powerful technology than the session conduction here, pure convection on demand vapes hit harder and more efficiently with better flavor and vapor quality in my experience...

I guess that the only advantages of conduction vapes is ease of use because they usually don't require much draw technique?

Also continue vapor production for people who like to sip every 10 sec or so (if not you are kinda wasting vapor...)

I fail to see other advantages for these types of vapes...maybe a diverse type of extraction bring new terpens on the table or some s**t:D

Yeah it is making the vapor for you, more like the joint style, especially because the load size can be a thing, but they have their own little quirks too to get the most out of them, some people feel they're underpowered and they have other limitations in my experience...

Yeah if you are steadily puffing, passing in a group where people are steadily puffing, it can work quite well, but it's so frustrating if someone is standing there talking without hitting, or if you're not able to do back to back like it gets pretty harsh... I rarely am in the mood for that, though I admit an occasion I do use a session vape like this like my IQ2 it is not at all what I normally reach for as I stick to on demand style stuff.

Yes some people do like pure conduction, but I think they're a better ways to experience it, like the Vapman (I have one with the station) and Firewood7 is like on demand conduction (with some hybrid convection) the rogue wax works has some new torch vapes that involve some conduction, yeah I think these all go further than the classic Pax style with of vape... I used to have the old Indica vape that I loved as a superior pax but the quality control was awful and the company folded as the owner ghosted on a potential follow-up...

Yeah there's always a compromise with every vape, fortunately we are seeing a lot more convection now, and on demand style vapes, we'll see if they can catch on in the mainstream the way Pax style had, because yeah vapor quality is important to me along with effects, though I do value simple convenience (check out Tafée Bowle btw for industrial design style simple pure convection on demand, try to look past the drinkware lol)

Xlux Roffu is from the makers of xmax v3pro btw with a more pax style design but with the pure convection on demand, smaller chambers, and a session feature, it is pretty effective and efficient, although with the one I have the vapor quality is not as good as my v3pro flavor-wise...

I had an indica vaporizer aswell:D but it stopped working after 9 months or so...never liked that much, never liked any of my pure conduction vapes tbh.

I watched a review of the tafee bowle like 2 min ago, what a crazy ass design:D, i'm gonna check the other one in a moment.

Haha yeah that was one of the problems, I had one of the original, and it was so great, but then I tried about a dozen more with the manufacturer, the factory screwed them over swapping out materials and quality control suffered severely, could never get the magic back... IQ2 is a nice one I must say, Vapman it's the real way to experience true pure conduction however... I still do prefer convection generally though FW7 with its hybrid is pretty incredible so I expect big things from the FW8! Although it is not going to be easy to get in Europe btw lol

Haha yeah it is wild, check the thread here, performance is pretty great despite its limitations, every vape has compromises! TM it's still my overall favorite for having the least compromise for me

Unironically the best portable vaporizer that REALLY converted me into full vaping (at least for a while) was a probably faulty slightly hotter unit inhalater XP, that thing was borderline combusting and probably 50% conduction and 50% convection but it was unreal how many hits you would get from a single well packed load and multiple temp steps, i'm talking like 30-40 min and like 50+ long ass hits level of unreal, i broke multiple seasoned heavy smokers with a single load.

When it stopped working i made a funeral for it😅

I am pretty happy with my Pax3. I have been on vacation for 8 months and all I brought with me was 2 PAX3's, and a Fury Edge. The mouthpiece on the Edge stopped attaching so I bought a Rogue on 4/20 but the draw is not what I want. SO.... I have been using my 2 Pax3's almost exclusively and I am actually pretty surprised and thrilled they work as well as they do. I get good mouth pulls and I rotate charging.

Overall, I never liked my Pax's better than I do right now.

Heading home next week after 8 months. It will be nice to be back to rotating through 20+ vapes. LOL Definitely wish I had brought my E-Nano. :)

Peace
