I don’t want to build a press right now. It looks like this unit makes more pressure than the pneumatic ones on that site. Maybe not?

Is it just not a quality unit or what? The price is fine with me if it will work and not die soon. Lol

I don't know that press by name but most of the early presses did not work very well. Probably why the guy is selling it. He even says that 'technology improved since this unit'. I read, "this one works like shit" in that statement. LOL

Dabpress is not DIY. The caged units simply slip into any standard shop press and plug in the wall. Completely assembled right out of the box.

If you are looking at pneumatic units, remember you need that noisy compressor running.

If you simply don''t want to buy a separate shop press and you want an all in one unit, I'm not sure what to say. When I was looking, all the 'all-in'one' units were pretty crappy.

Dabpress does have all-in-one units and I'll bet roger would give you an awesome price on it. You know why? Because no one is buying those units. Everyone seems to go with the caged units that pop into a standard shop press.

I am totally NON DIY and I put my Harbor Freight shop press together in a few minutes.

And, lastly, Dabpress is having a BOGO sale right now. It simply does not get any better than that. Get together with a friend and enjoy 50% off your presses.

I looked at the site. Looks like the same stuff on dhgate from China. The BOGO sale is not what you think. You buy a set of plates and pick a free thing from a list of accessories.
I don’t want a press I have to pump the jack a million times if I am doing a lot. I have heard the HF presses don’t hold up well when used a lot. I could go with a pneumatic press if I could find one that looks like it will work well. I have a Snap On shop compressor so Air is no problem. Just the air ones don’t seem very powerful.
Gonna be a while now before I buy. I had an offer from PayPal that would have let me buy one on eBay up until midnight last night. It comes around now and then so I am still looking there.

Can anyone tell me why the Hardpress dual ram press is a bad choice from experience? I can see it is not worth the $3000 they used to cost but if I can get one for under a grand?

Is the Rosinbomb a newer model of the Hardpress? Is it better? The Rocket model is too small for sure but this is saying it can build up to 5000psi, hold 4000psi and press up to 14g in one press.

Can these claims be true from such a small unit?

Well I just pulled the trigger on a super cheap deal. Found a Nugsmasher Mini on eBay for $115 and free shipping so I bid on it and actually won it for that price! I wanted something bigger and not manual but for the price I couldn’t turn it down. Even if I hated it and just used the plates to make a bigger one it will surely allow me to learn a lot about pressing with very little investment.

So apparently the eBay ad wasn’t right and the seller refunded my money. Upsetting but oh well.

Right now there is a huge gap in price vs performance and features. You can get a nice setup, may not be exactly what you want, but it works in the 300-700 range, then from there, is a gap of about $2k to get to the next level (see purepressure units). Units under $300 and/or which can not provide adequate pressure for the plate size will be sketchy and potentially a waste of money. Will you be able to repurpose or resell it?

Have you thought about a small 3x3" plates with a 6-ton a-frame press? IDK how much yer wanting to press at a time but a single family home could be fully medicated with rosin with a setup like that. If you wanna medicate your neighborhood you may want to invest in a 20-ton with some 4x7 plates.

What sort of results should I expect pressing up to 1/4oz?

I can deal with pressing small amounts in exchange for being able to put it pretty much anywhere.

I just purchased the dabpress 3x7 hope it comes with the bamboo insulation and I herd some got a rosin tray but I guess that promo way long over. Getting mine Wednesday and I got some bubble hash of fresh frozen buds that I want to squish will post pics

So I think I am going to build my own press. I can’t find anything for a reasonable cost that is just what I want.

I can use 6” channel iron for sides and 1/2” plate for a top and bottom to make a frame. Then use a Harbor Freight Pneumatic Hydraulic 20 ton jack. I can make the jack on the bottom that way. I have some Bakelite I can use to insulate the plates as well.

I will take pics when I build it. Gotta make time for a run to the steel yard for pieces.

Basically I am going to build a Nugsmasher Pro for a whole lot less money.

Oh yeah! I am consulting with my friend who is a structural engineering genius for design tips and having another friend who is a professional underwater and pipeline welder and fabricator weld it up for me.
Looking like heavy 6” C channel sides and 1/2” plates top and bottom with a 3/8” handle/truss to stiffen up the top plate. Not sure but will probably add something more to the bottom.

What do you recommend for plates in a 20 ton press? I am thinking I might as well go with 4x7??? How much can I expect for a maximum press at low temps? I think I want to press at 150F for a longer time rather than trying to save time. I want the best taste I can get.
I assume a pre press mold is essential if not using bags for larger amounts? I prefer not to use bags if I can get away with it. I am guessing a cheap arbor press is sufficient for a pre press?

Just received it and now must get parchment paper what type do you guys use and also need to go press shopping idk if I should go 10 12 20 ton? any input appreciated.

That will work alright for pressing hash, if you're pressing flowers I wouldn't expect much from that temp unless you have unlimited material to press. It's really more about material quality than the temperature of the squish.

If you've never pressed rosin before I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the temperature, it's not so black and white that 150F for 10 minutes is better than 220 for 2 minutes. It's just not.

I like the Costco brand of parchment. It's called Kirkland. I also liked Reynolds. I bought a couple "organic" brands and they were too thin and sucked.

As for tonnage in pressing.. I think 5 tons is an overkill. LOL All these people (including me) are way overboard with their presses. All I do at maximum is bust the filter or press the chlorophyll out or dirt. A light press always seems to work better anyway. Make sure the plates fit inside the press. That's about the only limitation, IMO.

I started out using a 5 ton. Then an 8. And, now a 12 ton. LOL Truth is, pressing with a vice worked just as well.

so you are saying any press will do as you said even vice worked just as well and good looks Costco for the win today or Reynolds and stay away from the organic to thin. Thanks for that would be mad if I bought something and it bleeds through
