You just stick the pin down the center tube? i did that a bit but not heated. might have to try.
That's it as you've discovered. Be very careful doing that if it's a metal pin or needle, the heater is sitting cross wise to the end of the tube, poke too hard and you hit it. Not good.
Vitolo invented a tool for this by sticking a needle in a cork far enough so it no longer reaches the heater inside.
If you manage the cart right, this sort of plugging doesn't seem to happen, or happen only slightly. Another kind of scary technique is to cut a 1/4 inch or so strip of paper towel a few inches long and twist it into a firm, strong 'string'. You can fish this down the tube, when you pull it out the extra oil will be soaked into the end (which can be cut off). Using a wire or pin forces most of it back down to the heater where it vapes off hopefully, but doesn't really remove it making the next plug all the easier to happen.
I've done the paper towel wick trick dozens of times (I have some SD oil that's lovely, but loves to plug....) and have yet to have one jam. Just keep 'screwing it in' (twisting it), always in the same direction as you work it in and back out.
