Hey Mr Ben!

Sorry to hear that you're stressing and frustrated....two emotions that appear every now and then with a perfectionist. Please know that the majority of us are just excited to support a passionate individual! We know that you're going to deliver an amazing product, no matter the number of days or revisions.

I think we're happy to wait as long as necessary as the more time goes by, the better it's going to be! If you need to eliminate the thread holes (something that I think ony a few of us would use in the future) to make your life easier and assembly streamlined....do it!

The future proofing is a great concept...but only if we get there. Thank you so much for your pursuit of perfection and I'm very happy to support you....then along comes the world's best grinder as a bonus!

Take your time, breathe and have a awesome week. Thank you

Hello Everyone,

I figured its time for an update on the XL's

I have been having a rough time lately with the 2mm magnets that hold the cap in place. They’re so small that even minor variations in size have been a nightmare. I’ve had multiple magnets shatter while trying to press them in, they just disintegrating under pressure, rendering the part useless.

After a lot of trial and error (and a fair bit of swearing), I’ve had to change tactics. I’m now slightly opening up the hole and epoxying the magnets instead. It’s not what I planned, I am somewhat concerned a submerge in a iso bath could weaken the glue, but it works and keeps orders flowing out without risking breakage of the magnets.

Unfortunately, this has resulted in about two weeks of delays and a good chunk of my sanity. The gluing has added significant work to the already 4 hours of work in each XL.

I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop. I refuse to send out parts that aren't up to my standard. I will happily refund before i send out parts that aren't the best i can make. (i am hoping you all dont take me up on this offer!)

It's difficult for me to pickup a camera and film updates while i am stressed and trying to solve these problems. The issues have been sorted now and i plan to film a video showing in detail whats been going on.

Thanks for your patience while I get things back on track.

Ben

I just got my Aroma-3 XL and I am extremely happy!
You should be proud, it's a beautiful work of engineering art.

I knew it would be big, I've had a similar sized grinder before but you forget just how big a 8cm grinder is!#
Its a massive beautiful unit though.

Hope you get the production wrinkles ironed out.

Thanks, ben.

I would like to think that anyone ordering a first run pre-order of a product will be fine with some delays and issues to be worked out! I just received #002 and it looks fantastic! I do see some slight issues with the cap to be sorted, so I'll leave the full review for later, but it's looking good! The dual bearing design does a great job at reducing wobble, even with the larger lid diameter. The new bearing tool is fantastic as well.

I believe Ben has posted a new update on his Youtube channel:

Patience all! It's going to be great!!

Thanks Ben, and take care. Don't stress too much. You're target audience by default is pretty chill. :leaf:

Looking forward to receiving mine. I’m probably #150 🤠
I believe in his video he’s back shipping. I’m assuming everyone should have theirs in another 30-45 days. We will see

Let's not throw out numbers and let the man cook ❤️

Ben, it really shows how serious you are taking this. I think the video was good and important to drop but man does it feel like you need a proper time off of this project.

I'm gonna lean out the window and say no one that ordered the XL desperately needs it. We are all going to be fine when it takes how long it takes. I feel like I can relate when being the perfectionist that cannot let go of issue that realistically might not be that big of a deal in actual day-to-day. But I also really appreciate and applaud to the dedication and pride that goes to your products.

Even if people take you up on the offer, I bet there will be at least 2 that are willing to fill the spot for the first batch

I found your kind words towards the OGs also really reflect how i feel towards me giving the money for your work. Tbh I do not need the XL, at all. I'm here for being part of how it started. Well, the XL feels a bit like cheating compared to the people who were here for the medgrinds, when the payment provider dropped playing along and all.

At this point you have proven yourself and we are at only around 3 months after the first graspable XL prototype dropped (was that around February?)

Keep up the good work. And keep up taking care of yourself first, the most perfect grinder will not be fun to use if I know the maker burnt themselves out on it. I would love to have this grinder forever and know that OMD is still around, prospering and giving work to your local community

Lots of love from the other side of the globe ✌️

I can wait for my pre-order, most of us have waited much longer for other things they pre ordered.
Don’t even needed a XL but this is such a great grinder to have I could not let it go by.
