As much as I'd love to get a founders edition XL after missing out on the original founders edition, I'm gonna have to pass on this one. Don't have the dough to blow at the moment. I also cant justify it cause I have my custom Aroma 3 and I told myself if I'm spending this much on a grinder I will never need to buy another one 😆

I will however be looking forward to your fine grind plates whenever those come out!

New lid looks cool, I kinda like the screw look as well. I'm struggling to think what I would ever keep in the lid tbh, doesn't look like the new ss spoon will fit? still want one though, the normal aroma 3 is such a nice piece of kit.
@OMD thanks for the update, once design is finalised, well there be any options to engrave the coloured SS caps? Thank you

Yeah I don't know what I would store there, but it could probably be another fun thing to play with lol Also option of different colors or designs etc would be so cool, still hoping for purple and or blue stainless steel options, forgot about potential engravings... I do appreciate the clean look of my plain founders edition original though (wondering how I will feel about the magnets this time lol mostly got used to my original, which doesn't have all of the changes that were supposed to make it easier like the notches around the bearing?, though I think it could still be better for me, so personally I'm just hoping all of the magnets are not too strong)

Anyway since he mentioned the pre-orders were almost sold out, he might add more or close it early even to start producing them, figured I shouldn't waste any more time so went ahead and got my order in! :freak::bowdown:

Sure seems to be a stash and as per the first vid, the scoop is milled to the inside curve of the hollow top for exactly that.
Q: I ordered one but am left wondering as to the bearing puller. Current one still OK and is it needed?

Huh? the scoop is curved to fit perfectly with the bottom chamber of the grinder... not the hollow top of the lid (the potential o-ring was perhaps for airtight storage though it wouldn't be airtight as he was saying regardless, so it has just become bonus access space after cutting down the weight)

If I have to unscrew however many tiny screws to get what I put inside just isn’t worth storing anything in there. I‘m going to store air in mine.

Many small objects to turn the grinder into a noise maker lol

But really I think the most practical use might be to store 2 different types of bud for people who like to keep weed in their grinder. 1 in the top and 1 in the bottom. Besides that it's totally optional to even use the thing. I like having the option there even if it won't get used all the time. I'm not sure about the o-ring though. I don't think it's necessary.

it is has been really fun seeing all the people reporting back on their preorders they have received and how happy everyone is!
Im loving this wholesome community!!! And Ben's energy that has cultivated the positive vibes all around is just amazing. Im reading through the whole thread and Im about 20 pages in so far.

Could anyone link or provide a post number where the talks about the XL started? Unfortunately the search does omit "xl" as it is too short to search with. Got the XL pre-ordered. Just would like to see what has been discussed so far
:)

- I am wondering, with the XL coming with 2 bearings, which will ones will it come with? 2 should stabilize it more. Longer spin times? Would the better bearings be a better fit here as they are supporting each other being stacked?

- also, will the bearing installation tool still work on the XL? Pushing 2 bearings and the teeth possibly aligned a bit different?

Welcome to FC! but flaws of the search yes

Best is to just skim backwards from here, it's not too far, not too much content on it really (most is in his youtube videos too of course)

You have the ability to leave a blank in the search query and select @OMD as author so you'll only see Ben's posts. Makes things easier. :2c:

The XL preorders ship late April as per store page, I have not heard anything else news wise. From what it looks like the official "drop" of the preorders was announced via youtube, Id say subscribe with the bell. I happened to see a post on a german subreddit but was fairly late to the party too.

Via mail when I had a question, he also mentioned that he's finishing the spoons this week and then gets going on the XL models

So there is this guy that commented like 10+ times on the last OMD update video (
), he does not like the change to the magnet with the two grooves for the fingers to lift the lid.

At first I was not giving this too much thought, but recently I am now wondering the same, what are we gaining & giving up for the new design? Were the comments in the first video too quick to jump onto an idea of another storage compartment

new: (screenshotted off the video)

The screws give it a bit more of an industrial/technical look. The grooves make it look like almost more like a toy, maybe? Hard to just go off of these still pictures

I was also wondering what the compartment could be realistically be used for

- other herb I want to grind. So I grind a first batch, take the top off, put that aside, take the middle off, that aside, then dump from the bottom ontop of the top part? not sure how I feel about that "workflow"
- I dont think the new scoops would fit into the compartment without shortening them by a lot
- AVB/ABV storage?
- hidden ashtray for the smokers?
- customizing faceplates does work with screws too, just not as quickly. Is the threading more prone to user wear?

I very much love my mad headers reload, how it cleverly adds different tools and storage into this one cylinder. But I am wondering if the A3 XL is where it should be heading.

I mean, it's all subjective, that person should just reach out directly and order a custom variant from Ben if they like the screws that much... They don't need to spam comments not that I looked at them myself yet lol because yeah, I am much prefer the look without the screws, completely disagree that the notches are a visual problem at all, way more subtle than the screw heads to me, and certainly not at all more toy like, to me just less of a polished complete product feel with the screws showing.... Not sure what the storage could be useful for, that is pure bonus, I actually think it could be fun to play with the lid and remove it depending how everything feels, plus they are easily swappable this way for different color or material, design etc.... It was never about gaining storage really, although that could be nice too! Hard to tell the size in photos?:2c:

yeaa, told that guy too to just reach out to him, they had pretty strong feelings about the new design

Im feeling a bit torn so far but leaning towards the new revision. The top without screws also leaves more room for customizing. Really looking forward to see what people come up with. It also is a lot closer to how the regular aroma 3 looks. And it looks fire

I was also thinking, if the steel faceplate has embedded magnets to hold onto the top, those might just be strong enough to rest a dynavap and use that as heatsink. Not to really hold onto it, but enough to easily balance it standing up. But then that might scratch the finish...

oh I cant wait for what Ben is cooking up :)
