If yours is like mine, you'll probably be satisfied. Typical SBL fit and finish: looks great, works great, hits like a truck. So far i can't recommend it enough.
Arrived today. And it'll be a while until I can try it out, but I've gotta say I am pretty disappointed in the strength of the magnets. And wouldn't consider this the same level of fit and finish I see with my Sticky Bricks.
Coming from Sticky Brick, and knowing the great magnets they used in my Maxx and Junior, in combination with what Troy and Jerry showed off about the strength of the magnets, I really expected the handle to solidly click into place and to be able to withstand a little nudge, etc. But especially with the weight of the cord, this handle is really susceptible to sliding off on either side. Any little brush against or movement of the cable will do it. And tough to rearrange cable without handle coming off if you aren't holding it down. The CH FLower Pot stand and heat sheild or the
@VGOODIEZ 18m female glass stand are both much more secure ways to keep a hot heater and handle in place. Going to need to be much more thoughtful and careful about where I keep the Hot Rod. I just refuse to risk that hot handle hitting anything and burning it or even worse, starting a fire. Too bad.
Starting to think about how to put stronger magnets in handle and base.
So not quite the product I was expecting in terms of polish and a secure handle. Let's hope it hits like a champ. If it rocks my world, time to start searching for better ways to secure that handle (unfortunately, while it fits in my 18mm female base from VGoodiez, weight of cable also seems to make that unstable (again, issues arise when rearranging cable, which can cause that stand to tip. Need something with more weight or mass, or that is secured to a surface so it doesn't tip).
As for the finish: Not a great photographer, but think you can see where it looks like there were nicks that weren't sanded out etc at the seam of these two pieces of wood. Three of these lil nicks at least. Too nitpicky? Maybe. Son of a woodworker mom, comes with the territory.
