SiC simply is a lot better at transmitting the heat...
Most enails on the market are as you stated. However Errlectric does not use a PID. Their unit is made in the USA and is the only Enail that is UL safety listed.Ahh ok, I was curious because it said next generation like there was something fundamentally different in how they're constructed etc.

So I have been seeing how low I can go on the sic without the sapphire. 610 with some CO2 oil and it vaped cleanly. Jesus am I going to be able to vape in the 500's? LOVING the universal carb cap. Hating the fact that I waited months for it, but short of losing it it will last a life time. It is one of the biggest upgrades I've ever had to dabbing. Never had a cap with such good air flow etc.
I'd kill to try a quartz halo now if people say its better. For some reason I keep wanting to use the sapphire insert, but I never seem to be as happy as if I use the sic alone, but I can't figure out why. I'm a tech head/gadget man, so I basically want to force myself to use it. I've tried around 750-800 degrees when using the sapphire. I dab pretty small. I can't even taste an improvement in flavor with it, which makes no sense to me. HELP haha. Not that the sic is bad by any means, but I hate wasting the money and not using my neato gadget I paid for.
Hey Everyone,
First off, there is a lot of great info here so I just wanted to thank everyone who has contributed.
I am about to make my first purchase and have a question in regards to the coil I will be using. Before I get into that, here is what I will be purchasing.
- D-nail SiC halo + slim series
- Auber RDK-200
Now, I already purchased a flat coil from DHgate (HymanQuartz). Unfortunately, the coil isn't exactly symmetrical but it relatively flat (I can post a picture later when I get home).
My question is - Should I order a coil from d-nail as well? Or should my DHgate one suffice for the time being (on a holiday budget right now).
Also, if you do recommend a coil from d-nail, is it worth it to spend the extra $20 on the 'extended life' one?
To be honest, I do not think the quartz halo tastes better than SiC, at least not enough to make it worth the extra money in my opinion. I think SiC is amazing and has great flavor, bigger clouds all at lower temps. I was in such a hurry to buy the quartz halo once my SiC broke, but now I have another SiC on the way if that tells you anything... I also agree that the carb cap is one of the biggest upgrades and really was not sure if it was worth the money... Damn am I glad I bought that when it came back in stock!
I would say stick with your dhgate coil as long as you don't plan on on getting a quartz halo as well. I would recommend the D-Nail coil for that because it is even/flat, where as the dhgate coils I have ordered have all been fairly wonky/uneven as you said, which definitely contributed to my quartz halo chipping and will almost certainly be worse for the sapphire halo, whenever that gets released.
If you are just using SiC you should be fine though. Keep in mind, there may be little areas that are less hot so you may get slight pooling, but unless you are taking huge globs it should not pool much at all. At least not from my experience with different coils/nails.
Damn...i just ordered a quartz halo...now you are making me question my decision....any feelings on the sapphire insert?
I hope that the carb cap is restocked soon...i emailed em and they said i could get a hive one but it wasnt as good..i might just try to get away with my old carb cap or anything else i can until i get the dnail official...
@tylerj55 What temp do you use the insert at to get this amazing flavor? I keep trying to like mine but it ends up back in its case lol.
Hey, is that the temp on the auber controller? or is that from converting from d-nail's page?Temps I've typically been using:
SiC Halo @ 627*
Quartz Halo @ 677*
SiC Halo + Sapphire insert @ 777*
(Auber RDK-200 w/ Auber flat coil)
What nail do you have now? With my quartz I set it around 730-740 and it works really well for me in that range. With SiC the temp I use is generally about 680-690. I also think it could go a little lower in the SiC as well, but wouldn't go below 650. Light wispy hits at that temp, and I want knock you on your ass strength hits haha!
Hey, is that the temp on the auber controller? or is that from converting from d-nail's page?
According to their page.. if I wanted 677F, I'd have to turn up the controller to about 859-916...is that right?
or is it on the controller 677 to get that 500-535F?
Is anyone measuring the temps of the surface you're trying to put stuff onto or just relying on the K-type probe in the e-nail coil and the readout on the PID controller?
I cant find any posts on this retaining nut you are referring to...more info please if you can..Do not get me wrong though, the quartz halo is still tastier than a lot of other nails I have tried and you will not be disappointed! It all comes down to personal preference I think... I personally say it's not worth it compared to SiC because the flavor is close if not equal and the quartz is definitely a lot more prone to breaking. But you definitely made a good choice! I want to try the Liger, however after how much I enjoy the halo series and D-Nails awesome customer service I plan on sticking with them for as my main nail/e-nail company. I would also look into getting a retaining nut like others have suggested to prevent cracking/chipping along the bottom.
The sapphire insert is definitely nice, but I prefer quick dabs, vs taking multiple hits/lung full per dab so I don't use it as much as I initially thought. I will say though, I get THE best flavor when I do use it!!!
*EDIT* Also, I saw you were unable to order the carb cap before it went out of stock, the jars that come with g-pen's fits basically perfectly and I used those until my cap came in no problem. It's nice because you can just slide it until you have the airflow you want! May not be the best/most pleasant option, but it was a cheap option for me while waiting!!! I had like 10 of them sitting around my home.

Those temps are with the sapphire insert?
I saw on the supplemental manual to change the oth (or something) from 40 to 100 from the 116 options thing.@DrSteez Those are temps on the controller with default PID settings.
I use more like 800-820 on the sapphire inserts brother, that's a wayy low temp for convection hits@tylerj55 even at 710 with the sapphire insert on the sic, I get SO MANY vapor trails after the hit. It tastes good at 690 but even after 3 hits its still leaving vapor trails and stinking up the room/house pretty bad.
Nah, not since I got my dhgate coil because it broke right before hand. I just ordered another one though, so whenever it comes in I'll let you know what temp it really is.

This is what I meant, sorry for the confusion. I just combined the names of two different parts haha.
Yes, those temps are with the insert. It may vary for you though depending on what exactly you like from your dabs. My gf likes the nail hotter than those settings, but she is also not as gung-ho about flavor and prefers a quick little dab, even if it kills her throat.
I am always experimenting with my temps too, as different strains/types of concentrate vape better at different temps than others.
I wasn't going to use a laser, forget about the reflective surface, more bothered about the difficulty of positioning it consistently and accurately, so I will be using a K-type hooked up to a digital multi meters temperature setting instead. Its really hard to measure the surface with laser. Reflective and all.
Nice! Been playing with the Liger v2 w/ SiC since last Friday and it's definitely giving the SiC halo a run for it's money.I just got Tracking Info on my CCA710 16mm and 20mm SiC dishes for my Liger V2!!!! Plus 14g of some of the best Shatter I have ever had. Plus my replacement FC-710 came in! Can you say FLAVORTOWN!
