Muad-Dib Concentrate Box

I think we may be confusing Alpha and Beta boxes. I am pretty sure that my box is an Alpha (plain wood, no light, no serial #) and that Beta boxes (post Maud Dib name?) are different in some respects?

@steama what does your box look like?

I thought the Maud-Dib was the beta?

Besides, I did a lot of reading on all of these before buying, as I do with anything, and honestly, I don't remember seeing anything about a warranty. I think I, as well as most of us did, just ASSUMED, that there was a warranty. I'm thinking, "Beta", means it's a testing version and it's at your own risk. I mean, otherwise, why need the "Beta"?

And is it just me, but does anyone else think, that these are just cleaned up, modified, and painted... leftovers or errors of regular MFLB's? Like, maybe somehow a box got returned, or they just didn't like the pattern in the wood, put in a screen using 5% of the material as a normal screen, painted it with a sharpie, and voila, a new product? I think the lid design is shitty as hell. Honestly, I don't like the magnification of the lid. I put in what I think is a small ball but it looks huge when trying to smoke it. The gold stuff holding the magnifying glass seems like it could bend pretty easily and once it's bent while open, it will NEVER have a proper seal ever again. Actually, I don't think the seal is that great to begin with. Only works better than when I first received it because some residue has built up to support the seal.

Again, I never saw anything about the normal Magic Flight warranty, others are saying elsewise but... pics or it didn't happen. I'd love to be proven wrong but... the pocket of this thing is just too small to last before it gets too much residue, no matter how clean your stuff is. there is going to come a point where this thing doesn't work right. Time will tell how well it holds up. We'll see.

On the other hand, I've been getting some what I guess would be reclaim building up in my pipesdaddy $40 bubbler that smokes like a mutha! Blazed off it right now so sorry if I'm rambling. Gonna stop now and medicate some more.

I still use my Alpha version (before we called it Maud-Dib) for about 5 months now, and it works like a charm, and I’ve kept the screen clean—after a few burn-off sessions with my PA.)

Your Maud-Dib has a lifetime functional warranty, so we’ll ensure you have a fully functional unit, no matter what. The “beta” does not affect the warranty if any future issues arise. With good care, the Maud-Dib can last for years!

Is this box good as a first dab rig?

I've used the MFLB for keif and have been surprised, but don't dare to put oils in it. I've had my eyes on the concentrate tray, but am super intrigued by how fast this little maud box heats up. I'm a heavy smoker but I haven't gotten into dabbing too much yet because I personally am not interested in the gear used for dabbing. Don't get me wrong, I like the science behind concentrates and have an insanely high tolerance, it just seems like a lot of gear and work to produce a desired effect.

What ya'll think? This or something else for a first dab rig?

I don't think it's supposed to work with hash… Too much plant matter. The screen would be useless in no time imo.

I don't know, maybe legal reasons. I don't know enough about vape pen oils. Do they have additives like flavorings or Propylene Glycol? BTW I got to looking, I must have the 2.0 version, it's brand new, and has not got the 2 balls on the corners.

Just got my MD and ran my first test. Harsh? What the fuck you people that think this is harsh talkin' about. This ain't harsh. Shit, it is a wonderful contraption that hits smooth. One of the best for concentrates in my limited use with it thus far.

Will post more later but it is time to play! Hehe!

Maud-Dib oh yeah!

I agree, I was bracing for the harsh, and felt nothing. The first couple were a little stark, but it's like seasoning the regular MFLB or a nail, the hit gets more rounded with age. Love mine too. I am very careful with the screen, I treat it like it's made out of dragonfly wings. I use a much softer brush than the one included.

If there were such a thing as heaven it has to be a Maud-dib box paired with a Mobius Reti Perc. So nice and smooth. I never dreamed I could do the trick using so little material it puts the MD in an entirely different dimension from other concentrate tools. We're talkin' microscopic size dabs here people.

Tried the PA and everything performed flawlessly, however, seemed cumbersome and pointless due to the EXTREME battery efficiency with the MD. I am leaving the PA dedicated to the MFLBs. No point for the PA with the MD imo.

All this and no torch. You gota be shittin' me — amazing power!

I agree. I put in a ball half the size of a BB, then I pulse hit it by pressing in the battery for 3 seconds while hitting, exhale...repeat. I can get 6-7 hits off of that one ball. Then I open and burn off the tails, you can see a wisp, and it's gone...and my back pain is too. Brush out any microscopic leftovers, and done. Awesome little thing. Haven't tried the Kava.

Have any of you who own a maud-dib also used a DBV/SSV nail oil kit? I know they are 2 different beasts, but with the PA I'm wondering what would be a better at home, instant dab device

The MD is best with batts IMO. The PA is overkill. Hits are so subjective that everyone would have to try it for themselves.
All tools that work on the LB will also work on the MD.
The MD is the height of stealth and quickness of use ( once the concentrate has been melted into the screen ).
The hits are very powerful IMO.

I'm with you on that, matter of fact I like weak batteries to slowly milk it.

Sorry for following up my own post, but I had to say that I've been out and about this evening and have been hitting it native all night with a weak battery and not making a perfect seal allowing a bit of fresh air in the side and suck like crazy for 4 seconds...just right!

Just because people won't know what the hell a Maud-Dib is when they see one does not make it incognito, sneaky, or stealth — not even in the slightest — especially when compared to a pen. That said I would rather use a Maud-Dib than a pen any day of the week.

KAVA KILLS. When you see that cute black tube with the steam-punk syringe just do yourself a favor and throw it in the trash. The taste will ruin your MD for a time.

I spent a couple of hours trying to eradicate the foulness from all my gear associated. On the good side of all of this I sure know how to clean a Maud-Dib now. Damn thing looks new with barely a hint of the evil kava.

I thought I was smarter — look what thinking gets me.

I have yet to touch it. Any affect? If so, maybe you could try a nail next time.

The kava has such an odd taste, you probably won't like it and probably won't ever get it out 100%... It's got some mild effects but I would take a stem or trench of herb over kava any day and twice on Sunday.

I did a lot of dry burns and I was able to get the Kava taste gone. I didn't use a ton of the Kava, though.

Affect is very subjective. I will say this. You have been warned so try it at your own risk and likely displeasure.

My new personal rule:
If you bought the Maud-Dib for something other than kava then just don't use the kava — AT ALL.

1) On affect — Kava is not an herb equivalent.
2) I am being your friend telling you this

That's reasonable advice, but I got used to the taste of kava and started to appreciate it. It's an acquired taste, like scotch. You're right that it's not cannabis, but I felt a nice mild calming effect that I liked.

I also liked the steampunk dispenser and was trying to figure out if you could refill it. I can't tell without emptying it. If you hated yours so much, perhaps you could advance the cause of science here.

The syringe is (should be) cake to refill. Just use a diabetic syringe with a needle and refill away.

If you like almost anything bitter, such as coffee, dark chocolate, beer, dark green leafy vegetables, etc., then you have an acquired taste. Humans naturally don't like bitter because so many poisonous things warn us with a bitter flavour.

I don't see how using a diabetic syringe is a viable method of refilling. You'd have to transfer your concentrate twice.

I wonder if the new orbiter bubbler was designed for use with the MD in mind, or the release being so close to the MD was coincidental. I'm sure it could be used with whatever.

After using the MD for a couple of weeks now, with the same gram of that super amazing BHO (that stuff lasts forever! )...I'm astonished at how efficient it is. A pinhead sized dab (about the size of a nerd...the candy that is)...Fully vaporizes with a freshly charged glyph battery in about 3-4 seconds..and will get me very nicely (VERY) medicated for about 3-4 hours. I'm still vouching for the quality of my melt because it COMPLETELY vaporizes every time..and after about 20 dabs or so now there is virtually no residue in the screen and no buildup whatsover in the box. It looks brand new.

A trick I picked up is I take a paperclip and straighten it out partially, and use the straight end to break off and stick a piece of shatter to the end. I place the paper clip vertically so its just about the screen, and use a lighter to heat up the clip just above where the shatter is sticking to..this will heat up the shatter and it will just melt into your screen and harden again when you remove the paperclip. Ready to go!

It is a different kind of high though. I suppose because you are vapourizing the whole concentrate in a few seconds as opposed to "nursing" a trench like with the MFLB, it hits you instantly and intensely, which can be awesome depending on your mood. I find myself these days alternating between the MD and MFLB depending on my mood. I have a bunch of different varieties of medicine so I can tailor it more to what I want as opposed to the MD which is a nice consistent high every time.
