Mobius Glass

Okay, so some of this I've posted elsewhere so forgive me if it sounds familiar. Basic summary: bought a 60t from Kulture, got a 60b. Decided, "fuck it," but then realized that, as I took an especially hard hit, even with the water level at halfway point on the second perc, I got backwash. I then spilled out enough water to only fill to the middle disc and still got spritzed. This is new and this was when the piece was level, mind you. Did I get a dud?

I have a 60B. I keep my water level right under the top row of slits on the top perc (I heard this was circle's own recomendation). I'm assuming you mean you get the backwash on the clear where there is no restriction? For me, with nothing in the joint, zero restriction, I have to draw as hard and fast as I can to get backsplash into my mouth. But I've never gotten backwash on a clear.

Maybe you just super vacuum lungs? :D

The 60b seems to kick up a lot of water for the size. It's the design I suppose.

You can hit the EVO as hard as you like, but it may not be advisable with this particular piece.

It's funny, because since this post, when using the 60B, I notice I can initiate splashback on a clear easier than I used to (or perceived to). I think because it's I'm thinking about it now. Damn post. lol. And I actually had one true accidental splashback on a hard clear, which I hadn't had before.
I think my 'hard hits' have become a little harder subconsciously at the moment.:whoa:

It's still definitely my favourite piece... of course what arrived in the post today from The Dab Lab has shown itself a serious challenger to that spot... but it's early.

Hahaha sorry? It's kind of funny because there have been a number of incidents recently where I sabotaged myself because of what I knew.

What's the new piece? And what makes the 60b your favorite? You could still pull me in and get me to keep this thing - especially since you have the Ion and since people have been raving about that over in the EVO thread. Which do you prefer with your Cloud+?

hehe no worries, I'm like that also with the sabotaging myself. :D

What makes it my (at least current) favorite? I don't know. I would say I enjoy the highly diffused, yet turbulent hit of the Stereo as opposed to the highly diffused buttery smooth hit of the ION (and the Clear).
You might very well enjoy the less turbulent hit of the ION, lots of people do. I'd also look at the Clear as it hits like an ION but is bigger and probably has less chance any of splashback.

All my opinions expressed on liking chuggier pieces aside, my newest piece, a Joel Halen dual chamber gridded circ tube, is very smooth and has very little chug and it currently the apple of my eye but I suspect that might be the 'newest acquisition bias' at work. I don't know. We'll see. :)

Somebody else said the Stereo had turbulence...what do you mean by that exactly? And does it affect the way it hits you?

An ion or clear matrix bubbler has a buttery smooth purr to it's pull.
If you hold them in your hand while hitting them, they don't shake or vibrate around in your hand, it's just smooth.

With the 60t, it seems to more violently shake the water up, I can't remember because it's been a while since I had my 60t, but I believe you can feel the piece shake a little in your hand when you pull.

I actually noticed that my reti clear bub gave me that violent diffusion profile too...

Just got my Clear Matrix the other day and I gotta say I absolutely love this piece! It is the nicest glass I have ever owned and the moment I hit it I understood the difference...

Quick question: is there an optimum water level on the Clear Matrix or is it somewhat a personal preference thing? Thanks.

Always personal, but I would suggest just above the matrix...

I hit mine while I fill it, then wait for her to purr. Some prefer more chuggy hits, so I would say it depends on what works best for you and your vaporizer combo.

With more water to move, it gets slightly harder to draw from, but there will be more diffusion. So less taste but smoother hits. Less water would be tastier, but harsher hits.

Circle himself (main blower at Mobius) stated on the Tokecity forums that the correct water level for a stereo matrix is below the top row of holes. Not sure if this would differ for a single matrix.

They need different levels, if you didn't cover the top row on a single Matrix there wouldn't be much point. Air taking the path of least resistance. With the stemless design you're pulling both air and water into the can so the level raises over the perc. With the stemmed Matrix the level only rises a tiny bit as the water is pushed out of the stem.

Is ALT the best place to buy Mobius for the right price?

They pretty much go across the board for the same price from what I've seen. Kultureva.com is another nice spot with Mobius in-stock occasionally (maybe monthly?), that is where I got my 60t.

Honestly though, Boromarket.com is the spot though. It's $50 to get a membership, but after that you have access to what is basically like a Craigslist of glass. This is the only place I've ever seen a discounted Mobius piece.
