I had the original miVape and have a Mighty and Crafty. The miVape (as much as I did like it) is not a Mighty/Crafty killer. To me, The Mighty/Crafty are easier to maintain, way better build quality, easier to load. The miVape is cheaper, taste was even (maybe a little more towards the miVape), heats up way quicker, you can set your vape time, has a replaceable battery and you can have preloaded bowls.
Thx! I'm anxious to hear if you feel the same way (especially about build quality) after you get the version 2. Did you not have any build quality issues with the Crafty or Mighty (broken fins, etc)? I was really hoping maintenance would be even easier with the MiVape. I keep avoiding cleaning my Crafty cu.

I will not be receiving the 2nd version (getting my refund today). Between my VapeXhale, QD500, VaporCup and my e-nails; I don't need the miVape plus I'm sick and tired of always waiting for a vape. No matter what improvements are made (I'm not knocking the miVape) but it will never match the sturdiness of a M/C. If you dropped the miVape and the M/C; the miVape has a better chance of breaking before the M/C due to it is an all glass path and glass bowls. They are 2 different styles of vapes body wise. I have had both M/C for well over a year and nothing has gone wrong. No nicks, no broken fins, no issues, no problems. Only thing I don't like is they aren't very stealthy while the miVape does look like a box mod and blends in public better. Maintenance is wayyyyyy easier with the M/C.

I would agree with you, I also own a Crafty and a Mighty. The miVape has great flavor and some great features like the glass and the replaceable battery but the build quality is less than the Mighty/Crafty and the vapor is much thinner, at least in my experience. You can use different amounts of herbs in the M/C and get great, THICK vapor with little drawing but with the miVape, you need the right amount of herb for best results and even then, the vapor is pretty thin IMO but it tastes great and I love the glass draw stem. The miVape may not have the power of the M/C but it makes up for it in areas where the M/C are lacking. miVape, is not a M/C killer but I love the vape and I love the small amounts of herb you can use and still get some nice, really tasty vapor, wrapped up in a nice design with a replaceable battery. I really like that you can use a pinch, literately a tiny pinch and get vapor and great taste so it was often the vape I would grab when I got a new herb to test the effects and how it tastes compared to other herbs. It's a great vape for people obsessed with flavor and using small amounts......

You are 100% dead on man. It is sorta not fair to compare the miVape to the M/C. One is better than the other in different areas. I think the M/C are good for long vape sessions while the miVape is good for long and short sessions. Also, you can have a bowl of mmj and a bowl of concentrates ready to swap out easier with the miVape than with the M/C.

As cool as they are I'd love to see an easier way to swap the Quartz cups. I got the hang of it with the first unit but was paranoid about losing the silicon containers.

I will say though, video tends to add VHS size to the unit but I've seen photos next to the Crafty and they are about the same size.

This is one of the reasons I want a refund on my miVape. I know it is suppose to be easier to load the mouth piece in with the new version, but for $260 there are toooooo many little pieces and most are glass (or easy to lose like the silicon containers) and the build is not very sturdy so I was afraid to even load the mouthpiece with a bowl in the unit because it wasn't easy to get it in or out. Once you got everything in place it was great (except with the temps being all jacked). Same with the battery (which I know was another improvement). You have to be careful with the miVape. It is portable and took it out with me but I only suggest that if you use a messenger or laptop bag. I was very careful not to throw my bag around so I don't know how much "throwing around" a miVape can take. Once again, at $260 I wasn't gonna find out. When it comes out with a sturdy rubber case like they have for cellphones and I see that you can load and unload the mouthpiece and bowl and the battery with the same ease as you can like changing glass straws on the VaporCup or the same ease as popping in a new bullet on a Pinnacle Pro then I will consider buying the miVape again.

Based upon the first updated model review video, I wouldn't jump ship just yet. It looked like very minimal vapor for the amount of herb used.

This was just an initial review....I'm still learning draw techniques and becoming more familiar with the unit.

As far as the amount of herb used it was around 0.12.
The initial usage yielded expected results...

I want a medical device for delivering cannabinoids, I could care less how much vapor comes out. I just care about the vapor going in, I want it to be as pure and as clean as technology currently allows.

Yep I got the new model, And will be testing it tonight, I want to become more familiar with the Mivape before posting my video review. Expect a review tonight. Previous concerns about the lid and feel of the Mivape will be address in the video... Stay tuned!

I await with bated breath! You can tease Just Justin and I while we wait :)

I am super excited about the new MiVape to say the least. I have one coming next week. All glass vapor path and convection.....AWESOME!!!! @Archaicrevival What temp are you vaping on? Great video/pic! I personally love low temps, just curious what temp you were at??? @PeteSeattle turned me on to this new vape. Thank you my friend!
Glad to see you here, Doc.

shit, there goes our convection vape folks. I sure hope they adjusted the heat down from the first batch. That was the issue, not a logo or latch change!

Well it is in fact convection. But the way it is designed it doesn't do well just left sitting, if you just leave it sitting for too long you will get burning on the bottom of the quartz cup. I don't think the 360F temp is the actual temp inside the unit but it's a relative temp the unit tries to maintain in theory, given all the factors involved during normal usage such as cool air coming from the bottom intake vents and draw speed, however in practice with my unit it's concerning.

I am not sure if my IR thermometer is accurate (although I can watch the temp go up and it matches the unit until the unit reaches temp and should stop but continues to rise) but Without drawing from the unit the inner glass according to my IR thermometer reaches over 500F(when the unit is set to 360F, 340F, or 325F) now this could be an error due to the IR beam and the glass, I can't know for sure without using an actual thermometer probe, But as I mentioned before the unit must compensate for many external factors, so perhaps this internal temp is normal and would cool down once those external factors are in place, such as drawing for 10 seconds allowing cool air to come into the unit from the bottom intake vent? Sound good in theory anyways.

Note:These are the results I got when leaving the unit at 360F and at 340F. These results below were obtained at 360F without touching the unit.

I will be getting a replacement unit soon. Perhaps I was unlucky and got a faulty unit.

However when I set the unit to 325F and leave it for 6 mins this is the result....

As far as I know, they didn't change anything about the chamber or the quartz cup, they just re-adjusted the temperature/software. So when we were getting decent results on the old model at 250F the new models will have the same result but it will read 350f even though the temperature is likely the same, the read out was just off by like 100f, at least that's how I understand it. Maybe they can program it to heat more conduction or more convection, I don;t know, I'm just throwing out ideas.

I think there is a lot at play here with the miVape, I know there is a good deal of conduction because you don't have to hit it to get cooked herb but there is also a lot of convection because you get better results with a super loose packed cup, unlike a conduction vape where it needs to be packed for best results. It may be different on the new versions but I'm sure if you set it high enough and pack the cup too tight, your gonna get dark bits but that could be a good test, pack the mivape tight and let it sit without hitting vs hitting it to and compare. That might tell you if your getting really hot convection air in the bottom of the cup or if your just getting really hot conduction in the bottom of the cup.......

One thing I question is the actual temperature. When I start my Crafty or Mighty, the temperature starts at whatever the unit is at, so if its 70 degrees out then it starts at 70 degrees and it may take longer or shorter depending on the temperature the unit starts out. Now with the miVape, it seems to always start on the same temp and it takes the same time to heat up, I thought, so I'm not sure if there is something actually regulating the temperature or if it just is programmed and maintains a temp that the factory set it to.

Also, the old unit would reach temp fairly quick but I usually would't get vapor until about another minute later so that could mean a couple of things; one it takes time for all the glass to reach the same temp as the heating coil so the glass airway is hot enough to produce hot air for convection and/or it takes a while for all the glass, including the herb cup, to reach the same temp as the coil to produce vapor via conduction, most likely a bit of both. Another test for the new miVape: let the unit heat up to temp like 350f for at least 1:30min to 2:00 minutes without the cup in place, then put the cup in and take draws immediately to see if your getting vapor from hot air instead of vapor from conduction of the cup being super hot....maybe

I could get good results on the old model at 250F with a cup that was filled just right, there must be some room in the cup like Archaicrevival showed in his video or you will likely get dark bits regardless if its a new unit or the old one because I think the bottom of that cup gets hotter (some conduction i'm sure maybe more) along with the convection which is the hottest at the bottom of the cup so if you leave enough room then it allows the herb to circulate when you inhale and keep it from sitting on the bottom where it can get dark and uneven.

I wouldn't give up on the miVape, try some different things out: pack it tight and set it low or pack it really loose and set it higher etc....I really enjoyed the old miVape because I could get great flavor with the tiniest amount of herb without any dark bits but there was a fine line between amount of herb, temperature and inhalations.

If these new units are charring too i think im out on this one. I'll reserve judgement, of course, till i receive mine :)

I hear that. I hoping for an improvement........besides better/stronger lid, battery door, easier to remove/load battery, mouthpiece is easier to remove, logo change etc. which are all great improvements but will it be enough?

Yea I hate to sound greedy but for the price I'd expect proper temp readouts, no charring, and I forgot to mention when I ISO soaked the MP the orange writing with the arrows and "HOT" wore off. Hopefully they're not using left over Chinese led based paint on that! :rofl:I enjoyed the taste, but after the charring and combustion in the old unit I kinda soured on this unit. Time will tell. I trust that Dan wouldn't release new units with the same issues.:2c::tup:

I experienced the same thing with the ISO, Dan recommended not to use ISO for the mouth piece, and to use something like 420 solution or just soap and water.

I loved my Vivape, and Dan upgraded my one of the 1st batch V1 to Vivape 2 for free of charge (what a quality CS)
I'm still in love with my custom calibrated V2
The taste is non comparable even with Minivap and E-Nano.

However as a long time supporter of Vaporfection, it is unfortunate to see where the miVape is going..
I was really hoping for a mini Vivape there.. 1st coloured screen mini Volcano portable vaporizer.
Also I really want to know why they had to change the final design to more cheaper looking than it's prototype? I prefer the black/white glossy casing over the current design.

Last year I promised Dan about purchsing miVape when it's present, but I'm a bit passimistic atm.
Time will tell. I ll hold on a bit more..
Come on Vaporfection!
