A buddy loads direct in his chamber while my miniVAPs have never seen a direct load. I gave him the miniVAP and it looked very very clean with only slight discolor to teflon liner after months of my using it. With direct loading, he got it dirty/stained looking/ used in a hurry.
Bigger clouds and performance? To me, the clouds with direct load were not necessarily bigger but maybe slightly quicker to extract initially but Flexi baskets catch up later, extract for a slightly longer time. I'd say it is sort of like the "DecarbKit/ stainless liner" that hits harder but depends what "performance" means to you.
For me, as a flavor chaser, the direct load showed me no advantage over Flexis and had many disadvantages.
I often load whole, small, calyxes that I tweezer off and flavor seems comparable with Flexis or with direct load**
** with direct load you can (and likely do) get nasty ABV particles down into the mV innards. His direct load MV had the taste get "off" when this happened
After years of using my miniVAPs with Flexis, innards have never needed cleaning and chamber stays 100X cleaner.
Flexis are so easy to add a hemp filter too.
I view Flexi modules as one of the best accessories in the entire vaping world, as we know it
I try to mod almost all my vapes to use Flexis and when looking at a potential new vape, try to find out if Flexis would work
and if they do, it's a big big plus!
@ataxian , how do you load your miniVAP? Let's see the innards.
And everyone knows that using the Flexicone/baskets is truly civilized
