Micro-dosing

Old & In the Way
Though I haven't read it yet (just arrived), the new Rolling Stone (RS 1286) has an article about Micro-dosing as a tool in cannabis use.
EDIT; I apologize, this is not correct. The announcement about an on-line article is in that RS issue. Now I can't find the article to link to it!

Sometimes I do this thing I call a ghost session, if Im at the end of a multiple-session load I will fire up the vape for 2 high temp hits off the spent load which barely gives me a buzz - but still satisfies the taste buds and its enough to delay me repacking the vape until the next day. How much herb worth of THC do I consume in that "session" - it's hard to quantify since the load is already spent. Judging by the effects I get (or lack thereof), 0.001 maybe?

I have discovered the VapCap recently and I find it exceptionnal for micro-dosing, so easy.
On demand FTW. I put 0.04 in mine and get 2 sessions out of it. Cant beat that.
In my Linx Gaia I get 3 sessions out of @ 0.15. Not bad either. Between these 2 vapes my VAS is cured.

WOW! I just came across micro dosing and I think it has changed the way I will be vaping my herbs from now on :D

Time for me to purchase a milligram scale and see how this'll affect me! Anyone here tried micro dosing in a sublimator?

Also, does anyone has any preferred starting dosage or tips/tricks for micro-dosing? any info would be of great help! :D

Yep works very very well!

And what @Little Bill said! I personally don't go below .025g for a micro, but others go even way less.

Glad you have been enlightened! It's the only way to go IMO if you wanna sustain a decent relationship with the plant, but everyone has different needs. I just HATE wasting 2g/day when if tolerance was better, could do just fine on .25g/day.

For me it was still the heat/airflow/technique things. I still had to heat soak my piece to get it to the right temperature, still needed an even spread of MJ across the heating path, and I had to adjust my draw rate to accommodate the size of the load. On one vape I went to a finer grind for awhile but not so much any more. Reading the thread is great, it is full performance enhancing hints and details sadly being a vape barbarian lots of the good stuff in the thread went over my head. Good Luck

Thanks for the tips! Just received my miligram scale. Time to start micro dosing

Also, thank you to everyone who shared info on this thread it really did help me!

I micro dose with the Pax 2. Just take a tiny finely ground pinch, tap it into the bottom, hold the Pax 2 upside down, use 3rd heat setting and get 2-4 clouds. It works well although my biggest problem with micro doses is the temptation to do more :science:
Do you hold it upside down whilst it's heating? I have never heard of it being used like this?

I started vaping in January 2016 after 15 years of no dope because I quit smoking back then.

I didn't want to go back to the old days of (smoking) consuming all day every day so what I do now is vape only on Friday and Saturday evenings, and then only 2 bowls, first Moroccan hash and then some Amnesia weed a couple of hours later.

I can tell you I get fucking ripped from the first hash bowl, I mean face melting ripped like back when you first started smoking.

I've come to the conclusion that cannabis is not meant to be used too frequently, the golden rule is , less is more.

Could this be considered as a form of micro-dosing because I barely use a gram per month but still manage to enjoy the beautiful weed better than ever ?
Lucky you having nice morrocan - only morrocan I have seen in london is fake/heavily cut 'pollen' - I get old school Thai weed which is nice and only touch 'skunk' I.e indoor grown weed on the extremely rare occasions when I get 'hashy' (high CBDtype / indica style body stone weed )

Brilliant thread about micro dosing - so nice to read like minded people's experiences and to see the enthusiasm for making enjoyment and use of herb a safer and more rewarding experience - refreshing change from people online bragging about how 'experienced' they are and what high tolerance they have and deriding people who want smaller doses as light weights and 'noobs'. If only they knew haha

After over 40 years of consuming weed recreationally, I stumbled upon its therapeutic qualities and microdosing. I found that if I vaped a slightly smaller amount than usual that the effect was the same but better. I would still get high but the high would be cleaner and more enjoyable.

I started by loading smaller and smaller amounts. Each load would be slightly less, slightly less than the load before. This brought my tolerance down slowly and surely. I now consume .015 gms per load in my Vapcap. It is perfect for tiny loads. I don't grind, just pop in a tiny nug torn from a flower. It is the perfect dose to help me get the days chores done.

When you begin microdosing, I think it is important to take your two or three tokes and walk away. Do not continue to vape until you feel stoned. If you do that, you've already overdone it. With the exception of a few strains that provide more immediate effects, your low dose high will come on after 10 minutes or so.

On the very rare occasion, I vape higher doses, but only when I just can't get a handle on severe pain, nausea or insomnia and am really just aiming to knock myself out. Then, the next day I go right back to a microdose.

Whenever I find myself slipping and vaping larger and larger doses, I deliberately cut back, again by slowly loading smaller loads each time till I am back to my tiny .015 nug.

More is definitely not better.

I love consuming pot now more that I ever did in my younger years of getting totally ripped. I wish I knew that less is more back then when we would smoke one joint after another as a social activity. What a waste of weed that was!

I have much more respect and affection for my bud now.

THIS!!! It's HUGE! I am guilty of vaping and vaping until i'm medicated, and realize that there is a definite lag between inhalation and the full effects "seating". I really appreciate your years of experience and wisdom Squiby, it's not that you have figured it out! Great post.

In all honestly, I look up to all you micro dosers out there! Serious props! I can't wait to join you after my break. Like you Squiby, I plan on just breaking a tiny little budlet (probably more like .02) and throwing it in my Supreme similar to your vapcap!

The problem is VAS and playing with toys....dammit! lol First world problems....

I'm dosing with CBD-rich FECO that has a 2:1 ration of CBD to THC. I'm taking 70 of CBD and 35 of THC per day in 3 doses through the day. I worked up to that over 6 weeks and plan to continue this dose for another month for a total of almost 4 months. What I have found is that the dose of vaped cannabis I need to feel it at all has gone up from .05gm to 0.1gm per session and I usually do 2 sessions per day - one in the early evening and another near bedtime. The CBD seems to put a damper on the euphoria and high from any THC. The THC "rush" lasts 20-30 minutes and then I either feel sleepy or the effect quickly wains. I won't say it feels good - it feels more like I'm in a muted state of some kind. Can't get high, but never really come down.

add black pepper into your mix.... black pepper will help to slow down degradation of thc while it breaks dwon into thc-ooh... black pepper will help the come down not be so draining and keep the actives active longer... it's the beta caryophyllene in the black pepper that works as cbd does to slow down thc decay... it's an inverse agonist...

black pepper too can substitute/supplement cannabis for micro dosing!

Hey C No Ego, that's very interesting! I have always heard that if you get "too high" mainly from an edible, that black pepper will help "sober you up"?

Not sure about black pepper substituting for cannabis microdosing? lol What are you saying here bro? :D

hahahaha...actually it's not like that AT ALL! No cravings whatsoever...I still buy weed for future use, check out my strains, smell them, etc. Easy peasy!

Curious about the masters cleanse though....you really did 2 weeks? My buddy does it every year... I believe in it, but there is a right time and place.

Sounds like my experiences with CBD! Wasn't really a fan...almost felt "incomplete"

black pepper is an inverse agonist that slows down degradation of active thc ( thc is an agonist) just like cbd slows down degradation of thc because cbd is an antagonist molecule...

the role cbd plays is to sit on the cb-2 receptor and antagonize that receptor thereby modulating calcium flow @ the cell surface ( phospholipid bilayer).

the role of thc is to go straight through the cb-1 receptor as an agonist molecule... this opens calcium channels feeding the cell optimally ( homeostasis)...

cbd and thc together serve to antagonize, agonize the receptor for balance of calcium flow... with just thc alone there is nothing to slow down calcium release and that is the energetic aspect of thc or the paranoia etc.... add in cbd with that thc and cb receptor signalling is better balanced from both molecules synergistic effects...

black pepper works as an inverse agonist @ the cb 1 receptor ( basically the same as cbd ) except caryophyllene acts on inverse agonist channels not directly related to cb-2 signalling... so, basically that means that black pepper slows down thc firing excessively ( agonist) just like cbd does it... that is turn menas that you can add black pepper to your thc solution and decrease usage by a whole lot... ! mostly through topical applications....

@C No Ego
To simplify - both black pepper (because it has beta-caryophyllene) and Cannabidiol (CBD) keep THC from binding to CB1 and CB2 receptors. The effect is that THC can't bind at those receptors and so the user doesn't get as high, or can come down somewhat if they feel paranoid or too spaced out from the THC. When you say that pepper and CBD slow down degradation of THC it seems like you are trying to say that the THC high would subsequently last longer. And black pepper can "substitute/supplement cannabis for micro dosing." I thought it was eating Mangos 45 minutes before vaping that accomplished that (because it has Myrcene). And my experience is exactly opposite in the sense that CBD keeps me from getting very high on THC. When I vape the THC euphoria is not as intense and doesn't last nearly as long.

they slow down the time it takes for thc to have it's biochemical effect.. you say it is blocking thc but it's augmenting how thc can signal... of course you could take a lot of cbd and totally stop thc effects but if cbd is taken in correct dosage it does not do that nor will black pepper...
basically, from what I've gathered. caryophyllene is a precursor compound that directs functioning of thc/cbd etc... the pre cursors are the volatile quick to evaporate directors of the heavier thc/cbd type compounds... but yes, to many precursors can take over ( stall) thc functioning but would need a lot of them in comparison to thc/cbd etc... just adding a little amount means augmenting instead of take over
BTW, we are talking little amounts, this is a micro dosage thread too so it fits- yes?"

Yes, I hold the Pax 2 upside down while heating. It keeps the herbs in contact with the oven instead of sitting on the oven lid which isn't heated. It works and the difference is night and day if you just have a small pinch in there.
