I would like to introduce the newest revision of the MaxVapor E-Nail for 2018.
The 2018 revision of the MaxVapor E-Nail is the most advanced e-nail. No Contenders.

Designed by Daily Dabbers, the 2018 Desktop Unit is the culmination of years of user feedback and feature refinement. Not your basic PID Controller. The electronics in the MaxVapor E-Nail were chosen and engineered specifically for the concentrate user who wants to go to the next level.

Development of the MaxVapor line of E-Nails began in 2014, and each year since have been making incremental improvements to our Hardware and Software. For 2018 we decided to completely revamp the electronics and now we have on board Bluetooth LE in addition to WiFi.

The electronics of every unit are stenciled, components placed and put into the reflow oven. All through-hole components are hand soldered.

Every unit is assembled and tested by a white-gloved technician to ensure your unit arrives to you blemish-free.

After the unit is Assembled and passes through Quality Assurance, it is send to a Calibration Specialist to set your Temperature Offset.

The technician will take several measurements of Nail Surface Temperatures using both an external Type K Thermocouple and Thermal Imaging Camera to ensure you get the most accurate temperatures out of the box.

  • Automatic Shutoff
  • Configurable Temperature Offset
  • Self Cleaning mode
  • Custom Nail Profiles
  • Stabilized Ramp "uptemp" Mode
  • Continuous Data Logging
  • High-Accuracy Temperature Controller
  • Switch Mode Power Supply
  • Modern Microcontroller
  • Three-Axis Accelerometer
  • Full On-Board Amplified Audio
  • Solid State Relay - Guaranteed For Life
  • 2 Year Warranty on All Parts and Labor
  • Assembled by Hand in the USA
  • Open Platform Encourages Firmware Contributions and Hacking

This is not a vaporware product. We currently have 300 units completed and assembled. Pre-Orders are Now Live while we await final regulatory approval which we expect to be completed Late August.

First batch for 120VAC units only.

More information available at MaxVapor.com or you can contact our support by email at support@maxvapor.com
Feel free to ask any questions or leave any suggestions we can try to squeeze in before the release.

There are a few FC users who were on the beta testing list from our last revision, unfortunately I cannot send your units until we receive approval but you will be getting your units out of the first shipment, so you do not need to contact me separately.

Thanks,
MaxVapor

Welcome to FC!!!
The product you are offering looks very unique among what is commonly available today!
How do the controls work?
I would presume a scroll through menu and push to enter? Nice and easy!

My main question is about your calibration and how it can be accurate once a nail is attached.
Quality of nails vary greatly and depending on fit the temperature across the surface of the dish can vary greatly. I would think this would change the calibration and thermal transfer?

There is another company that overcomes this by providing a coil and nail combo, custom fitted to each other for the best results.

I know that dabbers are very picky these days and demand rigid temp control.
Just wondering how this is handled outside the lab?

Good luck with your electrical safety!!!

How do the controls work?

- All of the core features of the unit can be controlled through the rotary encoder / knob on the side of the unit. You scroll through each menu with a turn of the knob and click the knob to select. You never need to connect the unit to WiFi or Bluetooth if you do not wish to do so. Some of the more advanced features are more simple to configure or require connectivity however.

- Each unit includes a coil and basic titanium nail and is tested / calibrated with that actual combo connected before leaving our lab. We offer 10mm Flat Coil, 16 or 20mm Round Coils currently.

- If you wish to use different hardware, you can connect your Nail to our online portal to upload or download User Created and Supplied profiles. These profiles should closely match a given setup, and we have profiles for most common hardware such as D-Nail Slim Nail / SiC Halo, CCA Liger v3, etc.

I asked about nails because when I checked your site, it does not mention that the unit comes with a nail.
I do see the "Custom Nail profiles" which is very handy!

Mobile app or web controllable?

All of the core features are accessible without using the connected features. If you choose to enable either WiFi or Bluetooth you can control the more advance settings.

The 2017 model units only had WiFi so everything was done through our web portal via MQTT protocol. As the new hardware incorporates Bluetooth LE, we will be releasing a React Native / App version of the software for Mobile devices.

You can also enable other plugins such as SmartThings or Amazon Alexa integration to change temperature and turn the unit on / off.

Id probably have given this a go if I hadnt already ordered an Augusthause. Ive owned so many enails, I thought for sure the Hexnail would be the last one but two years later and we dont even have the basic functionality promised from the beginning, I gave up.

You guys unit looks very promising and the price point is great. Can you show some pictures of what you see if you connect to the nail via bluetooth or web browser?

I'm glad i got my Kube first. He isn't even making the steel space edition ones like i have anymore, It's just a shame when the new Hex is nice and small and priced rite, But if it's not working it's just a paperweight.

I certainly got my eye on this one for that Hex like control i still desire. I mainly got the Kube for look's and didn't know i'd fall in love with the Flowerpot Sh. @maxvapor710 will this have a coil setting for Newvape products? And is the pin layout the same as D-nail? I would really like to be able to use my August coils with this. I do like the silicone mat on top and that it's removable. However the overall look's of the unit aren't my favorite but i already have one for that so not too important here.

Would like to see some app screenshots or actually a video with the app interacting with the unit please. If this was available 7 months ago before I bought a HexNail RQ I would have grabbed this. Got a KubeOne coming but this MaxVapor unit has piqued my interest.

@PoopMachine @Dubmonkey I have someone working on some videos and screenshots now, hopefully I will have those uploaded for you guys sometime this weekend.

@Vapor Loop I do have a profile that I personally created that is for the FlowerPot with the D-Nail SiC Halo, but I do not have every iteration of their hardware to test. Equipment profiles are totally user customizable and you can upload your own, so if one user supplies one anyone can use it or further modify it. And yes it does use the "standard" D-Nail pinout but we can certainly wire up any pinout custom for you if you request it on your order.

competing with hex nail pretty directly i'd say. beating them to the punch with wifi and bluetooth in one unit. i'll be keeping an eye on this one. i've been waiting over a year for them to release the 2.0 firmware for the HN-01 touch screen model so i can control it with my phone outside of the mobile browser (the touch screen performance would be embarassing on video it's not good) and consequently build them a video review for it..but i'm still waiting.

here's a curveball for development. find a way to include some sort of remote access functionality to your home WiFi network through your phones data connection. and a way to power on the nail remotely all within the app.

for example, if i want to turn on the hex nail away from home i have to load a remote access app, tunnel into my computer and load google chrome and painfully type hex nails WiFI IP (i have to type the IP because it changes a number each time i turn it on, so bonus points if you can keep that IP address static) this process sucks a large dick i usually end up just turning it on when i get in. also on wifi if your phone is higher resolution than 1080p it doesn't scale in the browser app which currently renders it more or less useless on newer mobile devices. all i can see is the top left corner of the interface which gives me barely enough visibility to tap the torch icon and turn it on. changing temp via mobile browser & wifi currently not possible, at least with my model.

they have a newer model without a touch screen that is completely controlled by phone. but they promised this functionality on my model (on release, a year ago) so I've not bothered them about picking up a HN-02 and am still waiting on them to deliver this update.

dream function scenario: i'm walking up to my apartment building, out of range of my wifi. i remember to warm up my nail, pull out phone, load app, begin heating nail. app switches from data to wifi seamlessly as i walk through the door, unload my shit and begin to smoke dabs, making any changes to settings on mobile with a few taps as i sesh.

curious to see what the app UI looks like when you get it rolling as the feature set is almost identical to the hex. ambitious project!

..if you get it done and it checks out i'll straight up mail my hex nail back to them in favor of a review unit of this product and review it on TheCCC420 YT channel.

it's 2018 we're ready for a mobile controlled enail that can be turned on as you pull up to your house like any other smart appliance.

Or better yet the app knows youre on the way home and turns the enail on and starts heating when youre X number of miles from home.

That would be pretty slick. You could use uPNP on the nail side and use some kind of auth key in the app to restrict access.

i wouldn't want it turning on all the time though because then i'd forget it's on when i don't immediately sesh when home and waste energy. it'd be a dope function still. but yeah, right track with the upnp and auth key.

also i remember on hex nails old site they promised a feature that would actually remind you to take dabs at user selected intervals. never happened, it's pretty novelty and could realistically get annoying but it couldn't be too hard to add and it would be especially awesome if you could record or upload an audio tidbit for the reminder. i'd appreciate this functionality personally and it would be great in a video review.

derp double post.

We do have integration with SmartThings, so if you have a SmartThings hub on your home network you can already do some of what you are talking about. The SmartThings app / hub would detect your presence when your phone joins your home wifi (after coming home from work for instance) you could then have this trigger the "Power On" and "Set Temperature" events on the enail.

Regarding dabs at user selected intervals:

The only thing we have in the firmware currently that is similar is the ability to schedule your unit to turn on or off at a specific time of day and an audio warning at the 2 minute warning before shutoff.

It shouldn't be too difficult to work something like that in, but the quickest way to implement it would require WiFi / Internet connectivity. I will add a ticket to our development queue, if one of the guys gets bored maybe they will pick it up and work on it.

Sorry if I missed any of your questions it looks like some posts were made while I was typing, I will try to go back and catch any I missed.

Any idea what time-frame you're looking at for a 220V international release?

After the demise of Hex-Nail this looks very interesting. On the site it mentions that the cleaning mode is 5 minutes and the ramp mode goes from 400F to 850F, will these values be user customizable? So if I wanted to clean for 20 minutes and ramp up from 500F-650F for example would that be a simple change for me to make?

On the website I noticed there's only an option for what appears to be First Class shipping to Canada. Would there be any way to pay more for a faster option like Priority or Express International?

I already do this! My HN is connected to a smart plug, and I use Tasker to control Alexa to get exactly the behavior you described. Could also be done without Alexa and a smart plug if you leave it on and allow Tasker or another automation tool to imitate screen contact. For example you can have it open the site, connect to the device, and toggle the heater. It'll be nice when there's a device that does it with their own services.
