Damn, wooden vapes... You can never have too many of those.

I'm stoked to test out the two new ones from Dreamwood!

@coolbreeze @RedZep: I tried out the diagonal heating technique with the Runt. And I agree with you, it actually works really well. I'm just constantly afraid of burning the vape, so I'll stick with the classic method and just rotate the intake tube 90 degrees to the side, which makes dosing the flame a lot easier. But for massive clouds, your technique is definitely recommended – thanks for the tip!

Beautiful! I love the variety.

If you want the indicator then go Tempest otherwise TA
I followed the Tempest thread from inception to launch, but somewhere along the way, they lost me. Too fiddly and over-engineered for my tastes.

I almost grabbed a TA3 instead but having clearly internalized the Tempest chatter, somehow that felt too brutish and under-engineered by contrast.

But since I picked up a Vaponic, I can’t figure out why either got made and we aren’t all just hitting glass bats erryday. Perfection is simplicity. 😉

Vaponic is absolutely great and terribly fragile 😂 if you break glass as often as me then having vapes like the TA is a good thing to have in the collection.

I once broke a quartz banger as I was taking it out of the packaging 🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

What's up manual vapers, my VAS is acting up a little bit and I'm looking to buy a relatively inexpensive manual vape. I'd like it to be about $100 max, and a fully self contained device that doesn't need to be attached to glass, preferably, but that is not a requirement. Currently I am thinking about the Dreamwood Roasty, the VaporGenie, and the Hippie Pipe X. If anybody has suggestions or comments I would love to hear them!

Vapor Genie's classic, I've only tried the Glass Sherlocks and can recommend them wholeheartedly (the heater can be used to heat any 18mm gg bowl, like the elev8r's or @VGOODIEZ's; Hippy Pipe X I have had some challenges with but it's a lovely little device; the Roasty is really a beautiful vape and sort of perfect in its simplicity. It's handy because you can collapse the tube into the stem and pocket it. @RogueGuy makes a version of these too; while they don't collapse for your pocket they are joined by a 14mm gg joint so you can use the heater in a j-hook or pipe without needing the stem.

The Camouflet Convector is $99 in Ti or $75 in stainless. Both are really great little vapes that fit 8mm stems; the SS will retain heat a little better for outdoor use.

As @Perfect_Speed4069 suggests, the Dobby's an excellent choice.

I do find that to be very intriguing. I was considering getting just the glass heater, but I think I would probably go for the Aluminum Classic if I choose VG. Maybe the glass heater on the side also.

Yeah after looking at it a little more I think that one is my last choice.

Yes I really love the collapsable tube.

I was considering one of those also, but I think I would prefer the smaller diameter tube of a Roasty Small, and I would be worried about dropping the tube out of the gong of the straight stem.

I love them, already have a few ;). Got a SS from VGoodiEZ during their 4/20 sale, and then Chosty was doing 50% their whole store for 4/20, so I had to grab another SS and a Ti. Crazy deal! I find them to be quite finnicky, but when you get it right, it is oh so right. Was using one last night, it was great.

doug's woodery has some top shelf nova's for 100-110

I put in an order for a Roasty and a 2nd Quality Dobby, I could not make a solid decision lol! This place is dangerous. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Great choice! I've been using a Roasty Mini myself for a few days now and even gifted one to a friend. Both of us are absolutely thrilled with this little device. It's probably the simplest vaporizer you can build, yet it performs incredibly well. After a (very) short learning curve, the operation is effortless, and producing thick clouds is a breeze. The flavor is fantastic. The restricted airflow and conduction heating give it a bit of a blunt-like feel. Great device, you're going to love it!

That description is exactly what I was looking for in it. I can easily see this one becoming a frequent pocket carry.
