Mainstream opinion on vaporization

The best smoke shop around me has a lot of vaporizers, however, they are all significantly overpriced compared to what you can find online. They wanted around $300 for a solo and didn't even have the charger for it "ill have to order it". Im willing to bet that some people that are interested in vaporizing go check them out at a store and get turned off by the prices, which like i said around here are marked up by...what?....like 100%

I've never seen a good deal on a vaporizer in a LHS. I have a friend that works in one and he says the owners like to see margins of at least 50% (for vapes/heady glass) and much higher for cheaper items. This means the LHS will take their wholesale cost and double it (or more) to get the prices you see on the shelves.

Wow, I would think CO would have lots of LHS that would actually compete against each other.

I've seen Ascents priced at $220 and Solos at $140 (good deal compared to official MSRP) at a couple shops. Funny enough, pens were outrageously marked up and they had fake PAXs around $220. :disgust:

I pretty much always thought that LHSs would be extremely marked up, but there are some deals to be made if the search is big enough.

I predict that there will be specialty vaporizer retailers taking advantage of this niche,
as lhs's are dropping the ball bigtime. And I wouldn't be surprised if the first one opens in co,
or maybe ca since it's all "medical" over there.

How about a vapor lounge? From what I've read it's already kind of happening,
in that cigar bars are out of fashion and hookah bars are popping up in their stead.

....When dealing with someone local keep in mind that if problems arise you can return or discuss face to face
For items that are easily shipped I find that paradigm to be over rated. Last thing I want to do is take time out from my busy schedule to jump in my car and fight traffic to go to a store. Much rather take care of things over the phone or, even better, via email, and then return ship if needed. I'm afraid internet commerce is a significant challenge for traditional brick and mortar retailers....and brick and mortar banks for that matter. I never set foot inside a bank anymore.

I've only bought a vape once from a mom and pop store (head shop) but sometimes I want to look at something before I buy it. Even if I don't buy it there and end up ordering online. To be able to see how it feels. To see all the pieces and how they work together.:2c:

I think there might be a vapor lounge in denver. And I'm pretty sure there's a vape retailer in boulder; it mostly deals with e-cigs/juice and oil pens IIRC so it doesn't really interest me.

That's the truth about banks. I think I've gone into a branch maybe once in the last year, and that's only because I needed more cash than my ATM limit would allow.

Just picked up this news about regs on vaporizers in the Cannabist (Denver Post):

The great vape debate: Public use of vaporizers, e-cigs a hot topic
Vaporizers and electronic cigarettes, which have experienced an explosive growth in popularity in the last few years, are beginning to face stiff resistance in Colorado as an increasing number of communities crack down on the battery-powered devices.

This was the part that really caught my attention:

With the legalization of marijuana in Colorado in 2012 and the rise of vaping in the state, he said a “perfect storm” has been created for the covert consumption of drugs. Golden Police Chief Bill Kilpatrick warned the City Council about the issue last month during a study session on a potential downtown smoke-free zone.
“You can vaporize cocaine, you can vaporize marijuana, you can vaporize methamphetamine,” he told them. “You do not know what’s in those vaporizers.”

HAHA - so the real issue is not whether vaper affects public health or safety, it's not about increasing the numbers of cigarette smokers, it's about.....that someone might be having fun and no one gets to know (so to possibly deny them it)!

Gotta love the Puritans.

I love how they think Meth heads and crack fiends are going to pony up hundreds of dollars for a vape.

Since I opened this thread, I'm beginning to see more and more attention brought to vaporizing. I'm seeing a lot more shops dedicated to vaporization, advertisements related to vaporization, e-Cig's raising in popularity, etc.

I've met more people since this thread's start as well... and for once I'm beginning to meet people who aren't only receptive to vaporizing - they've actually heard that it's better than smoking in every way. No doubt vaporizing is going to overtake smoking someday...

And also vaporizing out of a potato! If that's even possible...
