Mainstream opinion on vaporization

I'm now at the point where visits with my 2 toking friends has them blazing j's and pipes while I separately hit my SSV+bub. After 2 years of them occasionally joining me vaping and having them recently definitively stating that they they prefer smoking and that vaping sometimes doesn't do it for them (though sometimes it really does), I've found myself disinclined to share. I just thought f**ck this sharing with them only to hear they'd prefer to blaze.

I find their inconsistency usually comes down to either laziness (thinking a couple of mediocre hits will do it) and/or inconsistent technique.

I do think they've made up their minds regardless of evidence to the contrary. Admittedly, the SSV takes some skill especially paired with a bub; however, a few days with a friend's Solo during an outing was another story.

I've recently picked up a concentrates pen and I expect they'll be impressed with that though mostly because they have no experience with modern extracts. However, I think I'll be a bit stingy sharing this at this point. I see others posting about loading a powerful bowl (e.g. herb+kief sandwich) into a powerful vape at fairly high temps in order to impress smokers. I'm not so willing or interested anymore to donate quality trics when they've made up their minds.

I can also see myself letting them try my HI once received, but that'll be that for sharing of my precious.

Anyway, the upshot of all this is that I'm learning to enjoy vaping without sharing. I'm happy to do my thing. If they hit me up for green, I might snap some off for their (grossly inefficient) pipe, but won't be passing the whip. No biggie - we all get high and have good times.

Elsewhere around these parts, I've come across the occasional MFLB or Solo.

They have grown accustomed to the "one hit, feeling it" sensation. Oh well, fuck sharing if they can't comprehend. It's like going to school and graduating. Either you make with what you got or you're losing choosing the same route like everybody else. Most smoke because of media and that's the artists rapping about smoking indo like it's the new culture being brought back. Man I'm getting medicated on another level fuck the pop culture, SUBCULTURE for life.

I did share my MFLB with a friend once as we were leaving the pub together. He called me about 5 minutes later and said "dude, I didn't think I was getting high till I got to the second or third stop light and then I was like whoa I'm stoned". :)

I find this is a big one. It still happens to me, I'll take some huge SOLO rips and start thinking "man my tolerance must be fucked because of concentrates, I'm not feeling..." and then I try to do something other than take another vape rip and realize....yes... I'm medicated.

But I just saw a retailer poll on a website the other week. Something about
"What's your favorite way to smoke..."
Joints
Bongs
Pipes
Vaporizers...

:bang: It's going to be a long haul before the general public can separate the idea of smoking vs. vaporizing. Tobacco sort of controls that via tv adverts for e-cigs.

Calling it an "electronic cigarette" for those who don't know about it obviously implies smoke and smoking.

IMO Vaporizing is far better in most aspects than smoking, but we have to accept that right now it's the minority opinion, and butane dabbers are probably more well known than standard vaporizing so don't expect an enlightened public anytime soon.

If anything, expect lots of anti-dabber backlash even if you don't dab, because of this "vapor" confusion

When I read about hookas it's usually termed smoking even though it's vaporizing. The only times I have seen using a hookah termed as vaporizing is when they compare it to smoking a cigarette. I saw a youtube where this guy smoked a ciggie and exhaled through a napkin, then did the same thing with a hooka using shisha tobacco. The napkin with the shisha was just wet with water, the ciggie napkin was gross to look at it was so filthy!

First off, I've discussed this a bit b4. Good call as a general topic, sorry to say I don't know shit about east coast pizzeria vape surveys.
I should say I'm not talking about a medical application. I'm talking about friends I share life with when I'm out and about. So portables are what I'm putting in pplz hands. I've already decided the Lotus Vape may help the cross-over.

Here in the corn belt, most ppl I approach have never really heard of vaping, not 1 in twenty, the concept represents change so there you start.

I agree with almost everything previous.
Vaporizers are much harder to use, yes. The learning curve as mentioned. No-one wants to hear about instructions when all we did was step out back the bar. Grind it this miniscule way, load it particularly this way, hit it like this, and yeah it cost (insert price of $120-$700)
And then the thing doesn't really shine, they can't get it to work, it may go cool, or it's power can wane, just for starters.
My iolite I still hate. If it wasn't for the fear of permanent lung deficiencies I woulda left it behind for my hammer bubbler long ago. I love vapin' and I "get it" but easier doesn't really describe it imo.

Tweek and Tweak are both spot on.
Infancy and obstacles.
All these different vapes to pick from! Any of 1 of them CAN BE finicky, delicate, expensive items. If it's not working right it's not like you can just look at it and figure it out. We're talking amp meters, IR temp guns and some tools. You can make a combustion out of a popcan or other common trash. Ad b4 you show me the lightbulb vape go look up meth lightbulb pipe first.

Vaping takes a lot of prep and attention, you don't just jam some buds in a bowl and torch the fuck out of it. The math is easier on combustion, no sipping, poofing or mucking about. You just apply mass fire and suck like it's a fresh Mcflurry. If your trying to share on the go I'm at the mercy of my portable. And newbs exhaling some whispy vapor as opposed to trainwrecking a joint is a big difference.

Yeah and I FEEL like a crackhead hitting a glass oil rig. Torch, glass, sweat it's like going back to the 90's. I'm into the cotton thing so I'm getting rid of all that "wrong" feeling paraphernalia. Shoulda been using a solder iron anyway. I'll post pics of an oil dome explosion. Buildozer might know vacpurge from RIU.com

In fact I think You vaporists are more like connoisseurs. It's like asking a beer guy to go single malt. He's getting the same buzz for cheap n easy. You know it's mostly water but hey... And all the reports about MJ smoke not causing cancer is confusing matters even worse.

So to convert anyone good luck, your gonna need it. When I can jam a flower in a portable and rippit same same as say a pipe around a campfire things'll change I hope.

In fact the lack of carcinogens may be the only advantage to new potential users add up the common problems with the technology, I can see where it doesn't seem worth it to a healthy person.

That was a ramble. I've been experimenting with budder and Corona's.

Can you tell? Thank the programmer for autocorrect.

This is as close as I've come so far. The sherlock-style genies work great with a bic lighter, they're hard to combust, they have a very easy technique, and this glass one tastes great and has a nice big bowl.

I ghost the site without logging in a lot of the time.

For a minute I was all.....

NOTE TO SELF: sigs don't show unless we're signed in!

EDIT- Well it looks a little less crack pipe-ish, she said.

Let me trig it, $100. Glass. Parking lot. Bar.
Calculating.......

Needs a small hole in that vertical ring, so I can lace a small lanyard thru it. Ole girl drops everything. Other than that, why not?

Bar... wha?

Your original requirements were for around a campfire, make up your mind;)!

Actually I have no idea which of those environments would be more dangerous, but I will add that said risks would be the same for a glass combustion pipe.

Sorry. Tweek made me think campfire. I was with intoxicated folks @the pub. Regardless, I know it's gonna get dropped. Rock, pavement whatever, no one here seems to ever have a glass pipe. Dude has steel threaded pipe from highschool I think. A lot of those cheap aluminum jobs, blunts, dugouts.

Most all my portable vape stuff has a wrist loop or something. It's a thing with me. It all goes kayak-camping @least. Except my bubblers. They're glass with no way to tie them on. We've broke at least 3 of those in 3yr. But they're under $20-$30.
I'm just now loading videos on the GS, it's already different than what I thought based on the pic. I need to see it working more than anything Probably stop by it's thread to?

The glass ones are relatively new, I seem to be the main one commenting on them. But they also have brass and wood sherlocks and searching the huge vg thread for them will likely be fruitful.

Hehe I did the same.
He's also 25 and I started him with a vaporgenie, then eventually upgraded to a log vape!

I read your post with interest and find much merit with your opinions. My own experience and impression concerning the relative ease of vaping vs. combustion finds me very biased on the side of vapes. I use the Solo. The learning curve for me was hurdled on very short order. Great efficiency, less erb & better cleaner effect increase my appreciation and pleasure. No more rolling paper hassles (clumsy roller), or fouled & charred tasting pipes. Just take a pinch of pre-ground product and load the stem. Rip away mindlessly and forget it. No ashtray, no mess, and barely any odor. Save AVB for later. Cleanup is extremely simple, cheap, and infrequent. My chronically inflamed bronchials really thank me for vapor. I'm 50+ years, so you know I come from the hippy universe. My conversion was like a religious epiphany, though I don't try to force my new-found faith on anyone. Usually, a gentle persuasion by way of demonstration, is all it takes. Not always, but usually. Love to all!

Dont sell the Roor, if you ever decide to get another vaporizer (a waterpiece friendly one) you could put vapor through the bong

Really? Why thank you Snappo. Usually I just annoy ppl, so that was refreshing.

I'm not sure what's up but my lungs are definitely feeling compromised. Abuse IMO. In fact the concentrates make me cough so hard I'm afraid of busting up something important.

Most of my current "converts" are middle-class Harley rider types, not my normal crowd. Their gals like the glass but they want hardware for that price. I like your Solo description. There's a lot of options out there.
Recently I gave them my new MFLB with some concentrate in the tray and for the first time I found them GENUINE interested! They could see the vapor, ppl were coughing and falling over, someone had a religious experience (?) they loved it.

They thought $100 was messed up for a piece of wood the size of a lighter but they were feeling it and asking about it all night. So I'll start to mention some of these hit and run type vapes. It's on.

Wish I had unlimited cash to line up and have everyone taste test all the current models to help make sure everyone get the best unit for them....and while we're wishing throw in some world peace...oh, and a new American govt. (they closed my national park!!!!)

I think vapes will catch on a bit at a time - e-cigs and celebrities are pointing folks in that direction, and the ever-new technologies are quickly improving the breed. Many innovations come straight from these forums, as we are the pioneers, diverse and educated. Onward!!!

When I introduce people to vaping I say - "The High is different. To me, cleaner if you will."

They love the LSV after they close their mouth and realize I am not crazy.

I haven't converted anyone because they won't make the financial investment. However, they know it works and always wanna vape at my place. I will combust occasionally but it is becoming a real rarity. I just can tell I feel better. I lead a pretty active lifestyle. I run, alot, I have a half marathon next weekend and did a 10 mile trial run this AM. I can vape the night before any run and have zero issues. If I take big ole bong rips (don't have one anyway) or use my old bubbler I just feel terrible now a days.

It seems in the south, it's picking up momentum in the more hipster arena. It's like cooler to have a vaporizer instead of a blunt or paper of sorts. Crazy I know. I prefer vaporizing because the obvious reason of it being healthier but its also more discreet and undetectable in regards to smell. I was in the car with my sister on a long drive and she was in the backseat and didn't realize I was vaping! All windows were up. Vaping is the best thing going!
