Magical Butter

Thanks @SnidelyWhiplash looks like I'll be picking up some cocoa butter after work and will give it a try... Any specific type you would recommend or is all cocoa butter created equal?

What is your theory based on, say in comparison to coconut oil or butter?

I am curious about this as well. also, because you are using cocoa butter are you not limited to edibles that would then have a specific cocoa flavor as opposed to the coconut oil that might have more applications in terms of flavor?

of course those people with the cane alcohol are based in Oregon :)

Physical Hardness and melting temperature.

Coconut oil will turn to liquid just on a warm day.
Cocoa butter could be used to hammer a fricken nail (I'm exaggerating hahahah) and wont melt without focused heat.

Butter positively turns to slop if you add too much oil. I am theorizing that the greater the hardness, the more ability to retain some hardness and be removable from the cold water

However... when I think about it carefully, if you use olive oil etc, and freeze it all the way and scrape to remove the water, that might work as well, unless some of the lighter oils stay behind in the water....

ALSO, I would consider using the bubble bag to separate the butter/cocoa butter/coconut oil from the cold water... (that came with the cooker). Then put it in front of a fan to dry. That would probably waste nothing.... But be a mess.... (just boil it after).

As far as digestibility, nutrition and medicinal value, beats me, I'm trying to be Columbus, not Einstein. By all means jump off the boat and take it further, that's the reason for discussion!

As per what to use cocoa butter for... I have not done much but use it for chocolate. But I have read it increases shelf life in baked goods. Win win win.

hello gents, I will be receiving my MB tomorrow and will begin my project.
YiX8CcN.jpg

I will be doing 1 ounce of medicine to 2 cups of ever clear with 2 teaspoons of lecithin. I then will reduce the alcohol not completely but almost.

I'm a long time vaper but have recently got turned onto edibles. 3 weeks ago I put a good amount of medicine into a 160 proof solution, left it in the freezer for 5 days while shaking often, and i absolutely loved it.
While vaping, which i usually use 0.7 grams into my volcano and hit 3-4 times at 7.5, I get very high and I just want to play video games. When I was drinking this new tincture the high was much more fun. Id take a dose and jump into the zumba class at the gym, it was a blast!

Hi SnidelyWhiplash, I won't be vaping it. I will be drinking it. I noticed in the video on the previous page he doesn't add lecithin, do you think I should?

Ended up working late last night and the filter will be here today, so no big deal. I didn't even think about using cheesecloth:doh: good call @t-dub

@kolila I'm going to be trying oil, tincture, butter and cocoa butter this weekend to compare. But tonight I'll probably just do some plain ol butter and make some cookies for me and the coworkers on Friday

one thing I should mention, that I think maybe they should have mentioned in the instructions.

it says to put in the plant matter, then the oil etc.

when I went to clean mine out after using it for the first time, I noticed that there were burnt marks in the bottom of the container that would not clean off. I am pretty sure this happened because the machine heats up before starting the first mix cycle and the plant material was on the bottom scorching.

next time I will add the oil first, then the plant material and think this might be a better way to do it.

So I finally finished my project the other night and I am dubbing the result "sludge". I picked up some Now Sports MCT oil to finish the job. I reduced the alcohol tincture on my induction cook top. When it was done I added a little MCT oil to the pan and let it simmer a minute making sure to keep temps low. After that I added a little liquid sunflower lecithin, and cooked it a little more. The final step was to throw it in the freezer for a minimum of 6 hours to perform a "crack" and Voila! Cannabis sludge :) This smells very similar to some bubble hash coconut oil I made a long time ago.

If anyone was wondering whether it stinks up the house, yes it definitely does, a friend came over and said it smelled a few feet outside my house.

at 60 mins, the flowers were mostly dry but not the thicker bunches, I wonder if I should do a longer decarb next time.

do you guys think lecithin is helpful in an ever clear extraction?

The alcohol extraction gets the medicine out of the plant and you can stop here if you like. The second part is making it more bio available so it just doesn't come out your backside. Thats where MCT oil and lecithin come in. We bind the cannabinoids to the fat and the lecithin does a lyposomal micro encapsulation on it. I licked my spatula last night and got way faded . . . :ko:

I checked out their website and the Magical Butter Maker 2 is what they are advertising. It's a $174. I bought one off of Amazon over the summer. It's not guaranteed through Magical Butter Maker if you buy off them. I need to practice with mine. I haven't had very good luck. I've waisted some product and that can get costly. I'm not sure if it was my decarb process or not enough product? It didn't seem strong enough.

@SnidelyWhiplash

When you added water to your butter mix, it separated right out? I don't know what my problem is with making cannabutter, but I haven't had a successful run yet. I used the MB machine this time. I put in 1 1/2 oz. of good quality, decarbed trim, 1 lb. of butter, 1 T. lecithin and 2 cups of water. Processed it for 5 hours on 160. And ended up with 3 cups of a sort of whipped butter once I strained out the matter. Since there were only 2 c. of butter to start with, there is obviously some water in there. Not one drop separated out though.

I haven't tried it in anything yet. I did taste it and it tasted good. I'm just not sure wtf I did wrong. And I have to figure out how to use this in a recipe....
