ok. here goes my really long post with a million questions and comments on the MB machine.......
To start, I received it today. it is a really nice looking and feeling device. the packaging was great and it shipped super quick.
I want to start with the butter questions. the range given for the flower is 14-20g and for the butter, 2-5 cups.
I am a person who generally likes precise instructions. my friends say I should bake because it uses more precision than cooking. How is one supposed to calculate the proper dosage with a range that is so wide? I would love to see a list or sticky of more precise measurements that maybe we can post on this site. also, I am guessing people are using shake? although some seem like they are using the good stuff. My question is that doesn't that make the final yield a expensive product?
btw, ill touch on the lectin subject later
cooking oil.
it recommends coconut oil, but I know there are many oils that one can use? I also know that vegetable oil is not recommended, but others have mentioned other oils that can be used? I would love to add this to the list
there are nut oils (almond) peanut, avocado olive etc. I am curious about everyones experiences with the different ones.
Tincture.
I find this one especially fascinating because of what I mentioned above. I have always been under the impression that VG would not emulsify properly so I am wondering how this is coming out for everyone. It seems like that without a emulsifying agent (here comes the lectin) it would not work.
Now, I know people so far seem to be against the lectin that they are recommending. I am wondering if anyone knows a emulsification agent that could be used instead for the tinctures. Fats help with this, but when making the tinctures I am not sure if this would work or not. Thoughts?
also, other than ever clear or VG are there other things we can do? I have to say I am still a little sketched out by using ever clear even know I bought some.
General thoughts and comments.
could this machine be used with oils that one has already created and mixed with other ingredients for a final product? I mean if you had CO2 oil, mixed in ingredients to make say a candy, could it be used for this purpose as well?
After you have created your oil, and placed it into a pan to burn off the alcohol, how does one know exactly when the alcohol is COMPLETELY burned off?
That should work for now.
