LPs ripping you off for not giving you full grams your ordered.

I have noticed some LPs never give the 5 grams you have ordered. They keep saying they are calibrated and have ACMPR standards. But if you order about 30 grams of bud a month only to find that overall you have 1 to 2 grams less out of the 30. Thats a lot of weed loss and expense. It adds up. At one time I almost had half a gram less . That was about 6 bucks on 5 grams.

Medrelief tops up their product to make sure you are at least getting the 5 grams you ordered.

Has anyone else experienced this. Have you weighed the product you get from your LP. Would like to know your experiences.

never weighed my product as I figured LPs should be 100% so never really noticed this with tweed, redecan, or tilray.

But more importantly, please disclose the LP('s)!?? Almost sounds like you're shilling for MedRelief! ;)

I thought I could not disclose this but tweed has given me lower than 5 grams all the time. Med relief is fine. Never got anything lower than 5 grams. I feel they assume the medical user does not weigh their weed. Have a weight the next time you order. They do nothing about it but I think that is wrong. Yes you lose some weight with evaporation but they should take that into account and give you more if they think it will evaporate. The problem is they package their weed supposedly at 5 grams leave it on the shelf and by the time you order it voila a loss of grammage.

Not with Tweed, i'd never spend a penny there again. Thinking of going with Whistler but I mainly order from MoM's....LP's are such a rip off!

But with Tweed I like the variety plus with my compassion discount I get some for abut 4.80 to 7 bucks a gram. Plus you have to pay tax. I want to order from herbal dispatch. Any good MoMs out there. I like the ones that give you a sample pack of everything.

Tonnes of great MoM's...check out https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianMOMs/ PM me for my personal faves.

Like many other LPs, Tweed Gamma Irradiates most of their strains. I have a massive sized jar with at least 2-3 oz of several tweed strains that I simply will not vape. Doubt i'll even be able to squish much rosin out of it.

ACMPR says 95%-105% advertised weight.

Source: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2016-230/FullText.html

http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2016-230/FullText.html said:
(1) A licensed producer who sells or provides fresh or dried marihuana or cannabis oil under subsection 22(4) must ensure that the net weight of the substance in the immediate container is not less than 95% and not more than 105%

The best LPs should be aiming for 105% but i've never seen an LP do anything over 100%.

Med relief. The best quality cannabis I have tried so far. They have a compassion price of 25percent off if you qualify. They do have some cheap weed solveris trimings at 2.5 a gram and UK cheese at 5 bucks a gram. Shipping is free if it is a one time order. They actually give me more than 5 grams when I measure. At one time I recieved 5.3 grams. Actually all of their product I recieved was more than 5 grams each container. So that adds up especially when it comes down to expensive product like the 15 per gram products. Their customer service are not cannabis users so do not expect any good information coming out of their mouth.

medreleaf is an anomaly if they are giving out more than 100%, and the prices are unreasonably high for anyone not on compassion pricing. $17.50/g+tax for the rex (or whatever that strain is since they have removed genetic info from the public facing site). what a joke. that is the reason i've never tried them. talk about LPs ripping you off; look no further than the guys you seem to praise.

Typically from the 12 LPs I've tried, 5grams is 4.9 which equates to 98%, but can go as low as 4.75 and as high as 5.25.

which means the lowest a 10 gram container should be is 9.5grams.

typically i see 9.8 - 10 grams or 98-100% of a 10 gram container.

In contrast to that, before LPs existed, when I used to go to CALM/Compassion Centres they would make sure to weigh out 7 grams (quarter ounce) as 7.1

this LP thing sucks. we lose a lot over time. I agree.

@theCerberus which LP(s) are you presently with/recommend? It seems like 98% of them "cold pasteurize". Not many options, which forces me to more affordable and better quality (IME) MoM's, which aren't exactly legal as you know.

@theCerberus It seems like 98% of them "cold pasteurize".

I would agree with that number; whats worse is the lack of transparency as LPs have noticed that advertising gamma irradiation makes their batches sell worse than others.

you could sign up for an LP one day then the next when a batch doesnt pass lab tests find them cold pasteurizing for profit instead of taking the loss.

Same with pesticides. Never mind unapproved ones, there are a number of approved pesticides and who knows what LPs are using them. same with flushing. anything could be here one day, gone the next.

i'm sticking with broken coast for now. i dont think its perfect but its the best bud for the price in the ACMPR imo. i have an appointment in a couple weeks and i want to try thc biomed and see whats up with cannafarms again.

I heard THC biomed has clones. Would be nice to grow in summer if we have the licence to grow.

Broken coast was bought by Aphria recently. Expect a lot more strains soon!

I just wish I was not restricted with where I go. Already with 2 LPs . Tweed and medrelief. Medrelief because of high quality bud and they sell trimmings for 2.5 per gram. Tweed because it has a ton of cbd strains and getting more and I could by some strands like hindu kush for 4.80 a gram with discount.

I wish other LPs sell their trimmings would have been nice.

I've had patients complain about underweight stuff from Aurora and Tilray, but they're also very popular LPs out west so I get more feedback about them than the average producer. I've never weighed my LP product to see myself. I'll start checking each bag and report back, although I'll have to pick up a 5g calibration weight first. I've been with almost every LP and I've just always figured ±5% would balance out in the end. Shame on anyone exploiting this, these rules exist to accommodate for inevitable variance not to squeeze out an extra bit of profit. But maybe it's something less nefarious like water weight lost to evaporation due to their woefully ineffective packaging.

I agree that water weight can attribute to loss. But when you order and recieve the package it should be close to 5 grams as possible. Especially tilray which I believe hand picks from a large container and weighs it on the spot to ship to customer. So Tilray has no excuse. Tweed and other LPs may package the 5 grams way before you purchase it. So yes if it stays on shelf for more than one month you will get loss in weight gauranteed. Which is why medrelief makes sure when they weight it is over 5 grams. I believe I saw a youtube video of them weighing their 5 grams at 5.3 grams. So when the customer receives it in a month or two if it sits on the shelf they can almost gaurantee that you will get the 5 grams. With medrelief I always recieved about 0.1 ti 0.4 above the 5 grams. With tweed exact opposite 0.1 to 0.6 of a loss. Yes They gave me more than half a gram less! I guees they can exploit the patients because they know that most will not be weighing their medicine. I tried to explain to tweed that for every 30 grams I order its about 30 bucks loss. They do not care! Honestly they say their balances are callbrated acccording to mMPr standards bS. Which gives them a free pass to earn more profit.

P.S. never recieved anything close to 5 grams from tweed.

I just emailed Tweed about this because I ordered 15g from them since Broken Coast was temporarily out. Both of the 1st 2 jars weighed in at about 4.8 ... and it was too dry so lost another .2 in crumbled off bud at the bottom of the jars ... I'm not paying for shake. I had to rehydrate with Boveda packs for it to be usable.

1 of the 2 strains was not gamma irradiated.

Haven't heard back yet, but 8% loss in missing and shake is unacceptable in my opinion.

Broken Coast has always been over for me when I've weighed.

My 1st Aurora shipment will be here Monday ... we'll see about that one (they do not gamma irradiate or cold pasteurize anything)

I've had some good luck with MoM's, but the lack of availability of consistent strains, and the too often disappointing meds ordered as a result of this has had me sticking with Broken Coast. This is the first time in a year where I've been unable to get the same reliable strains.

Not much activity in this thread ... too long since my last post to edit, however, thought I should add this.

I received my Aurora order yesterday, and all I can say is wow!!! (and good wow!) ... here are some reasons why:

  1. Packaging: When I received the package, it was impeccable. Nice packaging with box, included a bunch of stickers and what-not (what-not girl  ... for those of you who have watched the 2nd season of Disjointed you'll get the joke) ... anyways ... really nice. And here's the real big deal ... they included a small Boveda 62% pack for each 10g container as an option and also included a letter explaining how to use them and why! (anyways, thought this was super cool, and above the usual)
  2. Actual product is amazing! Opened it up, and it didn't look like really super potent hydro, it looked much more like the soil grown cannabis I used to produce a long time ago! The smell was like that too! Really nice and fresh and the terpenes and aromas just jump out at you. This is really nice boutique stuff. Did a little googling on this and found some youtube videos of their Mountain production facility, and looks like it is all soil (or soilless medium) grown, but not hydro; would explain the high quality taste. They also do not use any pesticides nor do they gamma irradiate and it really, really shows. The aromas!!!! So awesome!
  3. Vaporized some of all 3 strains last night in the Supreme and they all delivered amazing flavourful vapour! Again, really impressed, and really nice pleasant high. These are all sativas and they all felt like this and had a good kick (2 are around 18% but a real nice potent 18% from the feel, and one was around 16% ... so not super high THC, but honestly hits as nice--possibly better, than some >25% THC strains I've had ... possibly due to the amazing terpene counts!)
  4. Pressed my first bit this morning, as I had been quite disappointed in both quality and yields from presses of the Tweed stuff (not shocking). Pressed 2g of the Ghost Train Haze, and got out .5g of super nice rosin! 25% yield of super nice quality. And again ... the aroma is just to die for! Perfect consistency to be manageable but not runny. (ie. it's firm, but not shatter like at all, so easy to pull of pieces, gather from parchment, etc.)

Anyways ... Aurora I would highly recommend ... not super cheap at $9/gram ... but that's not bad at all for what it is! I'm very happy and I think Aurora is now my new go-to LP over Broken Coast.

Here's a pic of the rosin (a little less than .5g as I just sampled some :))

Just pressed 2.02g of the Warwick #2 ('91 K-OG Chemdawg), and got .53g back :) ... 26% yield :)

Seems everything so far creates superb rosin from Aurora as well ... probably since its so nice and fresh that helps ...!

I don't bother weighing anymore because it can take up to 2 weeks to receive an order so its often dried out by then.

Glad you're happy with Aurora. I'm still with them but haven't ordered in awhile...since they poisoned us I guess. Enjoy!

Wondering if people that are happy with MedRelief have been with many LPs to compare? My experience with MedRelief was they sold over priced low grade product which imho was designed to fleece VAC so fuck MedRelief! For that matter fuck all the LP's that jacked their prices to take advantage of suffering soldiers at the taxpayers expense. Remember prices before MMPR? Seems like the only way to get weed that doesn't feel like you're playing Russian roulette with your health and is reasonably priced is to grow you're own...which is fucking ridiculous! How many Cdn med patients do you know that have to figure out a way to make their own prescription meds because of poor quality, contamination and gross overpricing which is not covered under any medical plan...? :mental:

I'm not in disagreement here ... I wish it was covered, or I wish with the plans for recreational it could at least subsidize the medical patients who are suffering because it is not covered by insurance plans! ... instead they aren't even making it tax exempt! What the fuck! (at least I get the tax back at income tax time, but that doesn't include the first $1,000 spent which is exempt from the rebate ... so I get "most" of the taxes back)

I hope Aurora has their quality controls under better control, as well as I wish their prices were a little lower, but I don't see a lot of other options. The only other option is to grow your own, which I may do again at some point, but up to this point, it just hasn't made sense for a # of reasons I don't really want to get into again :)

To-date, my experience with Broken Coast and Aurora is that the value is better than what I have gotten from mail order dispensaries (due to inconsistent quality/strain availability, as well as simple disappointments at times or receiving product I didn't feel was safe) So although prices from dispensaries were in the $6.50-$8.50/gram range, that savings of 5-30% simply is not worth it. (Better than ending up eventually with ounces of cannabis stored that I don't even really want to consume ...)

I know for certain that some of the cannabis I have received from dispensaries was not safe simply from the smell ... if it has a moldy smell, I don't know about you, but I sure don't want to consume it!

I receive all of my orders within 3 business days (4 max). I always choose the Purolator option over Canada Post as both are free for the minimum amount I would ever order. If I choose Canada Post (which I have in the past for dispensaries and once from Broken Coast due to risk of Purolator strike), it is 4 days max if ordering from BC since I'm in Northern Ontario.

Thats why you don't throw people in need and those in positions to help onto the mercies of commercialization. Not commenting specificaly on the situation in Canada, because I don't have a good enough picture of the culture but on the overall trends I see across a number of approaches to legalization at home and abroad.

Cool, I too have been pressing my cannabis into rosin lately. I find almost all the broken coast and tilray stuff turns to wax/budder. Havent ordered from Aurora in year or so. Hope you dont press too many seeds. My expreience with Aurora is extreme inconsistency. Wow, awesome dank in one container, terrible with seeds the next in the same lot/batch. My favourite of theirs is the Grapefruit x LA Confidential. Grape LA. Which smells strongly of Grapefruit. Most people dont realize its grapefruit because of the terrible name.

I found the same with the budder/wax consistency with pressing the broken Coast stuff, but find increasing temp to above 195 solves that ... 205 is what I've been finding ideal

The sour og makes really nice rosin :)

Cool. My scale only goes one decimal, so its not that exact but I'm getting about ~20% percent give or take a few. How long do you press for? and at what psi? i've been doing 1 minute at 550 psi.

One nice thing I'm noticing is that the rosin pressing is removing some negative plant taste from lack of cure. I pressed a batch of blue dream and jean guy from tilray each smelled a bit off in flower form but came out so tasty as rosin! cool!

The Sour OG from Broken Coast I get about 25%, and the Aurora Ghost Train Haze and '91 K-OG Chemdawg same thing. The Star Killer and the Northern Lights Haze closer to 20%. PSI varies somewhat ... I think I'm around 1,500 PSI, which is maybe a little high, but I am only going to 1 ton. eg. I'm using a 2x3 bag bottle-tech now that I've been trying filters, for 5g press. So 2x3 bag is a 4" circumference bottle-tech style, so d = 4 / Pi.

eg. So Area = Pi * [(2 / Pi)^2] ~= 1.27 sq. in. ... so at 1 ton pressure on the gauge, that's 1,500 PSI.

Bottle-tech style with the filter and 5g on my last press, my yield on the Sour OG in a 3 min press (ramping pressure up for 1.5 minutes, then sitting for 1.5 minutes) was >27%!

I'll take a couple pictures when I press the next 5g of Aurora Ghost Train Haze.

I'm pressing at 91 Celsius. So you are suggesting about 96 C. I was thinking higher temp would cook off more flavour.

Interesting, I always thought PSI calculation was done on plate size not what you are pressing. in that case I'm closer to 1500PSI as well.

I am using "Bottle Tech Style" too, but I like to think of it as McDonalds bag style since it closely resembles the bottom of a paper bag after making the bottom folds.

Not sure how long I ramp up pressure, i try to go as slow as the hydraulic jack lets me, but I dont think its a whole minute. Maybe 45 seconds. I'm not even sure how I'd slow that down. I leave it sitting for about a minute once pressurized and found anything over a minute produced a little green/chlorophyll.

Your temps and timing are very interesting to me. Thank you for it. It doesn't seem to correlate with my own experimentation though.

It is counter intuitive to me that bringing the temp up, ramping up 30 seconds longer and pressing 30 seconds longer would produce better results, since I'm already seeing a bit of green at 1 minute and darker/brownish yellow coloured wax. I will try it though. I really enjoy experimenting with my press :)

Where do you get your filter bags from? I got some on amazon prime but they stopped stocking them, and now it ships from china. just got some more from azpressco.
