Hey guys,

A few friends of mine wanted me to spread the word on a new vape they want to bring to the market.

Its called the Evoke by Loto Labs.

Ill be honest, i dont really know much about it and they haven't really told me anything about how it functionally works. Everything they have told me says they want to make it full ceramic medical grade internal components.

Cheers,
Tim

Looks like another IGG campaign. Look forward to learning/hearing more about this one, but it sure does look pretty unique. I'm looking at the perks now. They have a $5k one :o

$399 after the 50 early bird slots fill up!? And just oil? It looks great and sleek but I dont see why I would spend that much on this if it only works with oil when i can get either a cera ll and eo or persei for the same price or cheaper and be able to do both leaf and oil. Plus they are both made with high quality parts.

Yes its more pocketable and sleeker, but at least a $100 more than proven quality vapes already out there that also use ceramic... And will the price still be $399 when its released or be raised after that...

sure is pretty. i assume from the video it is still a concept rather than a prototype???

Correct.

Hello FC, this is Neeraj, one of the founders of the Evoke. Thanks so much for your comments. Yes this product is still in development and we need funds in order to finish the development. We are still working on all of the specifics, but stay tuned for more information. We appreciate your feedback on how we can make this the best vaporizer yet. Let us know if you have any other input. Thanks!

We are finalizing the design right now. We need the funding from Indiegogo in order to create the prototype. Let us know if you have any other questions or ideas. Help spread the word! Thanks!

So the funding from Indiegogo is allocated to create an untested "prototype" that might have "issues" ?

Looks nice. I hope it's going to be made of stronger ceramic than used in other vapes though.

looks like a mini or even micro usb port on the end

I think its actually micro HDMI 1080p out. It not only vapes, its also a computer on a chip. I think it gets NetFlix?

It does look pretty cool though, I really dig the design. As we move forward into this industry's future I hope that newer designs will come correct and much stronger than in the past. So many good designs so far, but no one has crushed it. Lets hope the function can match the design. Maybe this uses a graphene battery and can last forever with high heat? High Hopes Evoke, and good luck on your funding!

Looks nice, but to put in $299 to presumely get a vape next year, I have a hard time finding this makes it to it's goal.
$299 if your the first 50 to donate...after that is $399 to everyone else who wants to donate...

Regardless, they have 2 and a half weeks left and only raised a little over $1000 of the $150,000 they need...and they keep the money whether theyr each the goal or not...doesnt look like this one is going to happen

It is a lofty goal to try to break new ground in a market that is limited in it's legal U.S. availability of oils/concentrates/waxes. That market is already inundated with many good and some bad choices. Not much room to establish and grow at a $399.+ price point, even as high quality and aesthetically beautiful as the concept design portends. A much more viable and lucrative venture of this type would be the creation of such a device that vaporizes herb in a way that fully satisfies, as well as doing oils/concentrates/waxes. Also, the ergonomic design appears to intuitively assure the correct horizontal orientation that I imagine keeps the material properly placed in the heater, as a standard pipe design should. However, water tools being widely used among vaporists, a mouthpiece-fitted proprietary custom adapter with a 90 degree bend would need to be provided by the OEM to make this work. Certainly doable. A nice odor proof lined leather sheath would be just the ticket for an elegant first class device like this one. I will be monitoring your progress with much interest!

Salutations SameOldTim,

...they want to make it full ceramic...

Since you also called for feedback have a look at mine:

1)

Perhaps if it's going to be ceramic then it would be better to smooth its external countour, in fact i'd hope the final implementation would have fluid organic lines, eventually.

2)

Dry cannabic vapor being a serious issue to some of us i'd like to see some humidification system integrated into this concept (from the start).

3)

Finally, if it depends on "Ceramic Filters", "Foamy Rocks" or whatever you prefer to name it, then take a look at my modded VG pipe which cost me 3 pipes (3 x 88 $ CAD) in the end: a "puck" will gather the heat towards its center, effectively acting as a thermal lense... As a result i felt i needed to explore a solution i tagged as "defocussing" in order to delay the formation of a hot-spot, to bring down the frequency of charring/combustion incidents.

Hello All, we've been in the lab for many months working on our new induction vaporizer technology! Have a look at one of our first experiments here:

.

The Evoke shown above will be unveiled in June. We welcome your comments and questions, for more information check out lotolabs.com.

Salutations Loto Labs,

...working on our new induction vaporizer technology!

Ah, IH vaporisation at last! Lets just say that i feel quite ready to read all about it!!

Have a look at one of our first experiments...

Lets immortalize this unique moment in pictures:

soohlc.jpg

Ain't such concept neat-looking: almost as basic as a lamp dimmer!

The beauty of simplicity...

We welcome your comments and questions...

Great!

First of all the brand name doesn't sound as your best asset. To me "loto" evokes gambling, now add "labs" to that and it may become even less comforting! Euh... But anyway here's something potentially more helpful:

juvnzd.jpg

It's a stimulating preliminary experiment as it appears to suggest that you've used 26~ Watts to reach vaporisation temperature, after a pre-heat peak. Then consumption dropped as temperature went up, most likely because the metal temperature got close to its Curie point:

24lkgut.jpg

My suggestion would be to evaluate temperature limitation using Curie alloys:

IMO a Curie-alloy will allow better optimisation of power consumption... At least i'd try to benefit from this most convenient feature to eliminate combustion risks completely, as fail-safe protection. This way thermostatic action would remain an option.

Thanks for the useful plot and enthusiasm! We are investigating temp control using the Curie point of alloys but it is a slow process because the meshes are not available in arbitrary alloys and the skin depth vs. frequency also plays a role. We have decided to go ahead with the concept now because we can play with meshes and alloys to our hearts content once we have a user base and what we have already works just great in prototype form!

So, look out for our campaign and we'll keep posting as we make progress.

Hi again Loto Labs,

Thanks for the useful plot and enthusiasm!

Induction Heating ain't on topic everyday, I'd hate myself if i didn't pay attention to this rare event: a manufacturer is ready to start an IH-based project! So, are you kidding me?! Thank YOU!

There's no doubt in my mind IH technology will be applied to cannabic vaporisation, i wish the project to succeed in its exploration phase!

...the meshes are not available in arbitrary alloys...

That's where we don't understand each other. I can't see the benefit of IH vaporisation without a Curie alloy because that would imply additional cicuitry for temperature control. A piece of Curie alloy only requires to be magnetically excited to generate heat at a thermostatic temperature (while the process can be thought to be fail-safe as quite a bonus!!)... Pardon me but eventual customers should prefer off-the-shelf IH plates to complex custom-made units under such circumstances, don't you agree?...

106.gif

If you wish to experiment with a Curie alloy then you might like this suggestion: cut it from IH cookware as it's now on the market, including Montreal it seems!... The mesh doesn't have to be a heater, how about using it as a radiator instead?

Of course, there's no way you can fit a 12 cm metal disc inside the device but i'd still try with a strip, though that requires an alternate type of magnetic driver with the appropriate topology (flat coil vs coil-wrapped magnetic coupling). Those power tools are also available from 3rd-party suppliers, hopefully the NoFlame Plus for example (i like its casing profile).

Moreover, if you're not into the business of Induction Heating already then why not just leave that to Walmart or Zellers?...

...once we have a user base...

If i were one of those who might consider becoming part of such a "User Base", the way it's presented, chances are i'd just decide to Wait & See. For a lack of incentives... I'm sorry.

So, even if you don't manage i'm ready to bet that others will. It's only a matter of time and it happens time is working for me in this case. Lucky me i can wait, can you?

Salutations Loto Labs,

Thanks for the useful plot and enthusiasm!

Nah! Not even useful so lets retry with something more constructive!

I was in my veranda minutes ago, euh... That's a place where i get some of those inspirations, ya know...

Well, i was playing with my late glass tube extension for the 3-Stones modded VG pipe shown below:

Forget the left side and focus on the transparent parts. Now imagine potential customers staring at a dim glow forming in$ide, since Curie alloys may have to wait...

I mean, it's a mistake to hide something that could make the sell. 7th Floor, for example. They don't need to say much about cleanliness, etc. So, wouldn't that be even more hypnotic if the magic were providing owners a good show? Making it portable as a bonus would only add more incentives, the kind even someone like me would be ready to evalute more closely.

Who knows!

But this money thing tells me your project is younger than i could suspect. It may be a long ride but on another hand if there such time ahead then why not use it to explore and reject a few scenarios. I guess other members as myself want hints, what to expect, etc. Custom alloys, for example. I'm sure IH technology is Borg at the origin so there's got to be ways to adapt!

The PypTek Prometheus pipe has an open structure:

How about an IH glow inside some similar structure, which is a treat for the eyes while the users can rest comforted that nothing hidden can interfere with their sense of serenity.
