I'd like to get mine ASAP when I order
Pretty sure there's a waiting list for the PD.

BTW, why do people still cough after using vaporizers?

It can't just be part of the nature of inhaling stuff that's not pure oxygen because I've tried a hookah before and it was incredibly smooth and I didn't cough at all
That's assuming a lot. Vaporizers use hot air which can make people cough, the vapor also kind of expands in the lungs which can cause a tickle. THC is said to be an expectorant, and yes it is a matter of having a foreign substance in your lungs.

I really just want the results I got from trying a hookah with a vaporizer to make the experience that much smoother and easier, you know?
A water pipe adapter is available for the DBV, doesn't really make it easier though. A Herborizer or Verdamper are probably closest to a hookah in design.

Yeah, a waiting list is the reason why I was contemplating Amazon (I have Amazon Prime).

Is there any way to hook the PD to a (ice?) bong or anything to cool the vapor? I'm starting to like the PD more and more, but it'd be great if it used a more common/standardize whip system instead of those little 3 inch tube things they use instead. Unless you can hook whips up to it?

I'm still interested in hearing more about the VaporBrothers unit, though.

I wouldn't consider myself an experienced vapourist, but I'm a very experienced ex-smoker. I find that weed vapour is more irritating than tobacco vapour. With small amounts of vapour, you won't notice anything. Larger amounts can irritate the throat (I don't notice it in my lungs as such). It's really nothing like smoking, and there is no lingering after effect. I find that by controlling my breathing, and breathing out slowly through my nose, irritation is kept to a minimum. Another thing to consider is that with vapourising, unlike smoking a bong or joint, there is no need to rush the hits. There's nothing going to waste, just take your time and breathe easy.

If you are worried about irritation then maybe you should consider the PD, which gives smaller hits. I haven't tried either the PD or DBV yet, so someone feel free to correct me about this.

BTW, have a look at post #10 in this thread http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=461

I don't know how much water filtraton or ice cooling will help, I've never tried it. I use a bag vape so the vapour has cooled to room temperature before I breathe it, and as I said large hits seem to be irritating regardless.

If you're interested in getting a PD, just email Pammy and Tom and they'll let you know what's happening.

Unless you're buying a used VB at a good price, the VaporWarez Vaporcannon is a better choice. Slightly better price and 3 more yrs. on the warranty. Better selection of 3rd party whips too. Heater angle on both of these units is a built in disadvantage though. Easily fixed, but other units don't require that adjustment.

I'm always mixing the two up. What exactly is the difference, and which one is a knock-off of the other? Is eBay not the place to get one due to knock-offs; what places do you suggest I look for the VaporWarez? So, the VB costs more, is it better? They look, really, really similar...

I wouldn't consider the Vaporcannon a knockoff of the VB. Vaporwarez made the original Vapordoc. Not sure of the time line, but it's not worth worrying about. Both units perform well-really no noticeable difference. The Vaporcannon is a little cheaper and the warranty is better. It's also more flexible with 3rd party whips. I only have two complaints about this type of box vape-the light weight and the heater angle. Easily fixed with various methods though. If you want hands free though, the DBV would be my choice if you can handle the additional $28.

eBay is a great place to buy the Vaporcannon. The extras you get make the warez a no brainer IMO. Check your thread on mj.com for a link. ;)

Could you expand on your 2 problems? What's wrong with the angle? Also, on the eBay link I don't see 3 whips included in that package.

jerry, I believe this is what Max is alluding too:

1. lightweight - just as it implies, very light, can be moved easy, no weight to it, no hefty feeling.

2. angle of the heater - it is angled upwards which means to bring the wand to the heater, the wand is facing downwards and herbs might fall out. You can fix this by sticking a book underneath one side of the VC to make the heater angle parallel to the ground.

hope this helps

I'm a proud owner of a VB and have tried the PD several time and would sincerely take the VB over the PD. The reason I got the VB to begin with is that my first one I bought I got used from a good friend on a great deal. Later that summer it was taken by the police on my way to the beach . Once we were unpacked the first thing I did is order a new one. At the time the only people I knew in real like with vapes were VB owners, and I new I needed another vape. This time I got the hands free (the same unit I'm currently selling). At $150 or 160 its not a great deal, I feel the DBV probably beats it based on what I've heard, but I haven't tried the DBV personally. So it depends on how much you feel like saving 60 bucks. The "problem" of the downward angled whip never really got to me. I pat my herbs down lightly and they don't fall. I feel it helps the whip to stay attached when you are passing it around in circles. What gets me the most is that for optimal hits one needs to draw slowly. Doesn't bother me as that helps keep you from top shelfing anyway and keeps the vapor in your longs for a long time. But people trying it for the first time usually draw too fast, you definitely don't draw hookah speed. This is one of the reasons I'm moving to the Herbo. You can turn the heat up and draw faster but then if you stop drawing for a long time your herbs might burn. At my temp settings I've fallen asleep with fresh bowls packed (wonder how that happened lol) and woken up the next morning to find no burned weed. <takes hit>

As far as coughing goes, while you can absolutely cough on a vape unless you are trying to have that happen it doesn't very much (usually happens when packing a second whip, since the whip and heating element are now at full temperature that first hit of the second pack can whallop you). It is definitely due to the fact that THC is an expectorant and triggers you to cough.

The thing I like most about the VB is how durable it is, maybe not as durable as the PD but definitely backpack safe. It's also completely silent.

stonemonkey explained it well. As for the '3 whips', I meant to say '3rd party whips' (corrected now), meaning handkits manufactured by someone else, ie.- 7th Floor, Vaporstore's two piece handkit, etc.

Hello Jerry,

Sorry to chime in so late in the conversation, but had to add my :2c: ;)

Everyone here will have their own opinion, but do not really know your personal preferences ('sometimes we live in no particular way but our own'-GD).

My advice would be to read through some of the threads here (lots of good info and many of your ?'s above were already answered with pics, etc.) before deciding (an investment in your health is no good if you do not enjoy using it and, therefore, don't). Plus you get a feel for the degree of insight some of the people making recommendations here have into current vaporization technology, the market, and tools  .

I have not used the VB of the Cannon, but I would check out the threads for the Extreme, Vrip Heat Wand, DaBuddah, and (yes) the Purple Days (sorry if I forgotten any good ones off of the top of my head :uhoh: ).

Hope this helps.

Toke it easy!

PS: If cost were less of a factor the Herborizer, De-Verdamper, and Volcano are worth checking out as well.

Edit: Also, the I-inhale is a functional (and hopefully durable/affordably-maintainable) portable worth checking out :brow:

Thanks for all the help guys. I decided to save a few bucks and go with the VaporWarez Vapor Cannon. I figured I would eventually probably get a higher-end vaporizer (SSV, Herborizer, etc.) in the future, so it would make sense to save some money and go with the Vapor Cannon for now.

Cool  (one I have never used).

FC or some of us combustion fuckers most likely have some info on the cannon as well (fuckers?...).

Toke it easy!

I'd love to read your review once you've tried it for a while.

I've found that vapor makes me sneeze a lot too sometimes, especially the
first or second bag from a volcano. Anyone else? The VCannon is a solid
option, it takes a little time to find the "sweet spot," but once you do
good things happen :)

if i take too big of hit, i get little sneeze-coughs as it expands, but full out sneezing is somethnig vapor hasnt done to me yet

im kindof looking forward to seeing how i handle vapor from the vhw, as the pd has made me go on a 3 minute coughing spree on several occasions

YES! I think I actually made a thread about it.... I sneeze pretty often when vaping, especially out of my VaporCannon. I wonder why this is...... :/

There must be something about the composition of vapor that makes sneezes.
I rarely sneeze when smoking. That's funny you started a thread. Haha.

Could it be that vape'd air is drier and as such makes your nasal/breathing passages dry and scratchy?
