Laser Engraved VapCap Tips

Nice thread and initiative @flotntoke!
How much vapcaps does it take to collect them all?

However, I see a lot of pictures here, that may not be possible with their laser.
I'll share with you some input that Matt gave me, as for current custom order I had to make the picture myself.

The picture need to be in black and white(as back and white as possible, gray scale can be problematic), in good quality if there's fine details (but not too much details as the laser isn't Monet's hands ahah), round shape and whitout too much black area, as the laser can burn through them.
On a personal note, I make my picture on a png extention, in order to use transparency and let aside the white (half the work yeah! )

Of course steps like making a picture shape's round or turn it in black and white may be handle by Matt or Eric but I can't tell you about that, as I do on all the work to ease the process on their side (feeling guilty about all the extra work that I put on them maybe? )

Thanks for the additional info! Very good to know. I just put in an order for one and wished I saw this first, but am sure I'll get it all worked out with Matt.

Also, waiting for reply on a few other related things. Will post all info and my approved design here as soon as I hear back.

Yeah... you caught me. I was pretty tuned up by 8 am yesterday. We all know how that goes... Gotta stay medicated or take a nap, and I was not in a napping mood! Wake & Vape is usually pretty rare for me - but man I love it unless I'm blowing off too much shit (like work!) that day.

The other problem was I was using that damned @DDave little portable bubbler tube on my OMNI. As I mentioned in the VC thread, that little combo is kicking my ass - and with the tiniest amounts of material. It is part of a kit he sells for the Mi. Probably worth it for some to use exclusively with VCs. You get the cool little bubb, a few glass adapters and some silicone hose. Definitely a worthwhile kit for anyone with an MI, IMO.

I was wondering about this myself, especially if grayscale would work. I didn't think it would so I'm in the process of modifying an image right now. I can't wait to share it with everyone, it took me a while but I finally figured out the perfect choice! I'm looking forward to my next Dynavap order so much!

Well done Mr. Me2, that was my one! I was keeping it really secret and didn't even mind paying full amount to get it done sometime!
Maybe it was mean for me not to share the idea but it's like those books in a tattoo shop!
I don't think you're supposed to choose a design from the books but come up with an idea??!
So hopefully people will get it and it will be cheaper now ha!

A couple big updates from Matt below, but first my final artwork.

I removed the crosshatch from the lightening bolt at the suggestion of @TheVaporist . Thanks again! Matt also confirmed my original art (with bolt crosshatched as eyes are above) would have been problematic for engraving.

Now for the other updates from Matt regarding DynaVap engraved tips.

First - ALL engraved tips are now $20, whether artwork is already loaded into their laser cutting machine/programming or not.

To order a custom cap, add a second cap to your order (at $20) and specify in notes that this second order is to cover the cost of the engraving. Send artwork to Matt. Seems most of the reason for this part is that PayPal has finally identified DV as a vape seller. And, as most know they don't want to handle our business - ASSHOLES!! So in addition to other headaches created by this for DV and us, DV also can't invoice us through PayPal for such things.

Apparently, the custom caps have been interfering with production a bit and slowing down other things while DV is trying to gear up all production. From Matt - DV really enjoys everyone getting the custom caps, but it's hard to justify stopping other production to do the sometimes involved work on these. Customs will only be set up and done every couple weeks.

Not sure how many at a time they can handle, or what true delay time will be for custom caps.

There is a possibility that DV will specify 3 - 5 engraved caps a month, show them on the website, and do those for a reduced price. This should be easier for them to incorporate into regular production. Not really sure how all that will work out, and anxious to see how long mine will take. I'm good with all this (and above) but am a little bummed it is going to be slowing up my first Gen 4 Ti tip in the same order. Whatever. This is on me (or on anyone who orders custom), and I'm OK with it.

So if you really want a custom engraved cap, I'd suggest you move soon. Or, may have to wait until this all plays out in the long run. I'm glad I got my order in!

Will post here and in VC thread as soon as I get my shipping confirmation on this order. And of course post pictures when it arrives.

Also wanted to mention that Matt was awesome through all of our back and forth on this (tho I know there were no doubts about this!)

At $5 extra I was gonna go for one, just to be one of the cool kids. For $20, not so much. It's a perfectly reasonable price, it just isn't worth it to me.

Still lusting for the other items in my cart, tho, including that new wider groove tip. Who knows, by the time I pull the trigger my desire for coolness may have also risen...

Gorgeous, eh? Unfortunately, I don't have mad photo skills like @TheVaporist and was kind of in a hurry on a blustery day. Everything kept blowing around on me. So far, she hasn't been used. I was trying to keep her pristine for the pic - but don't think I can wait much past tonight!

How are the aesthetics after it has some wear on the cap? My tips don't seem to fade as much as the logo on the side of the cap.

Is the skull engraving on your cap centered on the end?

It appears to be off-center but it may just be the way the photo was taken.

Was the top of the skull placed in alignment with the picker?

Yeah... it's dead center. Just another result of my poor photography talent. Looks F'n AWESOME! And, I can gladly report it works nicely, too. We just had her maiden voyage. Thanks to some purple platinum (what? OK. Sounds fine. Oh, OK. Is DAMNED good!) we're both real happy!
