Not that bad. Less than a closed loop system and vac oven anyway. Not something I'm gunna run out and buy, but if it really works to make DIY solventless extracts that people actually enjoy, I can see splitting one.

But I know nothing about what is involved. I'd have to see it in action and the hash it makes.

not bad ive seen used for 1500 on ebay so 1700 isnt shabby at all. you still need to add an inline chiller for the condenser .

effectively the boiling flask in the waterbath spins. keeping the material inside constantly churning and prevents hot points. this entire apparatus is then vacuum pressurized to lower the boiling points of the actives. you can effectively use this apparatus to remove water vapor from fresh material... selectively boil off actives and if you desired those could be fractioned off or conjoined in a high potency extract...

utilizing nothing more than heat... and pressure.

I think ive heard thst slogan before.

I used to make candles with essential oils and I have a bunch of essential oils including grapefruit , tangerine , bergamot ............ fooling around with that ... simply because the recent batch I have is not so great (bad source imo) -- so I figured I would fool around

wow the idea of solventless via a rotary evaporator is extremely interesting.

By the time I bought my large SS extraction tube with stand, vac chamber plus shipping to the ass end of the world, and then my vac pump, plus my custom silicone heating pad... lol all that stuff was around the same price as that cheaper rotary evaporator.

Plus I already have an inline water chiller at my disposal.

While the concept is dead simple, the actual implementation seems intimidating in it's possible complexities. I'd be scared I'd drop all that cash and not be able to figure out how to use it

I feel your pain @canj00digit? I too have spent a decent amount of money for the sake of extracting...I kinda bitched about that to @farscaper and he quickly checked me...experimentation takes time and investment...at the end of the day, it's about science.

Use a light behind it lol. It is pretty dark when it's together.

I froze my KX (I store my KX in my freezer). Then I poured my KX into a mason jar with the kief. I didn't time how long it was in the freezer but I shook vigorously a few time till the kief was completely dissolved. The I strained it through a SS 50 micron screen into a SS 10 micron screen. Left in freezer until it completely drained into my PTFE lined dish. I used a fan to agitate till the KX evaporated. Then I consolidated into a flat circle and did a cold (no heat added) vac purge, flipping a few times during purge.

Some ppl don't feel it's nessicary to vac purge their QWISO/QWET/QWKX but I do. IMO I feel there is still solvent left after the evap. I weighed it before my vac purge and it weighed .78g after it was .75g. So it took something out but that's my process hope it helps.

My KX runs have given me a 15-17 percent return. But there are many variables and it's not just the solvent.

Just ran 1st batch with Kleen Xtract..Amazing..! Came out great.Its 200 proof,100% Organic Ethyl Alcohol..No heat needed so it's super safe and made in USA by farmers,not big oil.Let me know if anyone else has tried it and what your results were please..We can exchange tips because it was my 1st time pull with this KX.Any info would be great.

This is the same as QWET man, with good tech, ethanol can allow us to extract as close to all of the goodies in a given set of material as possible.

I heartily recommend ethanol extraction to the cannabis miser who wants to hold onto every last bit of the good stuff in their stash.

Guys - do not buy a rotovap unless you have actual lab experience with one. This shit is not for the uninitiated to be playing around with!

Seriously, not unless you have someone with not only the right organic/synthetic chem credentials and crucially, the credentials to educate the uninitiated in such methods (these are not the same thing!).

As a scientist/extraction artist, I freak right out when your average home extractor brings up these kinds of ideas on fc - I hate to think that anyone would at best waste a lot of good material and a lot of money on high end equipment (which WILL attract the wrong kind of attention from authorities in most parts of the world!). At worst, yikes. I don't wanna imagine any such things befalling my FC friends!

Still yes, a rotovap could be enlisted for extraction - however treeing the scientific journals for such practices, this is NOT the favored means by chemists in scholarly work to make pure, refined essential oil extractions for research purposes. The favored means are much more high-tech and prohibitively expensive still, perhaps unsurprisingly lol.

As has been said in other threads on this board: most of the extraction methods we dream up for weed have been done in infinitely more sophisticated ways by chemists more qualified than myself or other FCers

I am glad to say that there are a small handful of extraction artists in various parts of the world working on the next generation of extraction technologies. I think we are all gonna like what we see
