hey help, help me mod!

I realize that you’re drunk, but this isn’t the way to summon a mod (they’re not the parents of a needy toddler). Maybe stop back once you’ve sobered up and take a look at the rules, specifically the ones pertaining to posters with a commercial interest (that would be you), which should give you an idea of how to contact the mods.

This discussion is akin to expecting Eastern religions to completely abandon a religious symbol because some asshole thought it looked cool. Shitty people co-opt things all the time, it doesn’t mean every time you see that again in your life the person is representing the etymology or connotation you have personally now affixed to it.

Not sure if it’s so much a matter of expecting someone to abandon something as it is simply alerting them to the cultural context. If my Jain neighbors wanted to manufacture some food to sell at local [non-Jain] supermarkets and they asked me what I thought of their packaging, I’d probably advise them to leave off the swastika in their logo if they didn’t want to deal with some uncomfortable questions/assumptions.

Too true! This is why I defiantly celebrate 420! : )

And why I would not want to have to explain over and over again what it is I'm celebrating.

Also, there may be some language and figurative language differences challenging us all as well.

Which is also a way of subordinating your neighbor’s ancient religion to a much more recent and limited, if maximally abhorrent Western code.

You’re basically prioritizing the Nazis’ co-optation of an ancient mystical symbol (also meaningful to Buddhists and Hindus) bc it’s more familiar to you as a presumable Westerner. A strange assertion of privilege to be sure.

This whole business has come up before. In Chinese numerology, 8 is homophone of fortune and a lucky number, 88 doubly so. 1688 means an ever-prosperous road. But, sure, Nazis. Therefore all other interpretations are invalid.

Not to say that you guys are wrong. I’m sure Kalu would rather sell you a unit than not, and we know the customer is always right.

I'm not sure about that. It may take a mod's help to rename the thread? Maybe @kokolokokolokon can help?
Unfortunately, I'm not a mod. I'm just a humble high super sexy archbishop of the council of the sacred Great Pear 🍐 , and praying to the Great Pear 🍐 is all the effort I can make... well, that and hide people persecuted by the Nazis in our Pear-church

@Kalu being drunk is not the way to summon mods. The way is to take an unborn and draw his blood to paint Pepa Pig's face on the ground and recite Bécquer’s Swallows backwards to the rhythm of samba

Just joking :lol::lol:

The symbology can be something delicate and complex. Things like the symbol of the sun (swastica) must be taken into consideration depending on the context, and even have many variables (shapes more curved or “z” instead of “s”).
It happens today with Viking and Nordic symbols such as the black sun, which are used by fascist groups, but do not mean that they are theirs.
This is not a “western/occidental privilege” to use other culture symbols it is not as simple, and one thing have a looot of meanings around the world and along the time.
There are others that were in disuse, such as the Roman greeting ( go to a synagogue to do the Roman greeting and say that it was Roman, let's see what they tell you xddd joking).

To express infinity you can use the number 8 or even a circle. It can mean harmony and in Chinese culture means good luck (and in a Chinese chat 88 means "goodbye"). In the Hebrew numerology (of the Kabbalah) it indicates fear and obedience, and 88 restlessness or possession.

It must be said that the context is important. An explanation can be given, but when you are not in a mostly Chinese or occult forum, 88 is usually a Nazi symbol, just as 1312 means "all cops are bastards."

Until the mods can help Kalu would be great to see this little device in action!!

Is nice to see more EU artisan vapes!

Edit: oh! And remember to eat a lot of pears 🍐

I was not aware of all this, I asked for the change for the name here... 88 is just the price 88€ on the idea of one of ours it becomes 99 so it also becomes 99€ 🤣 🤣 I'm also active in making videos for you and those who don't have Instagram or fb. .. THANKS. I like to joke too but here I am overwhelmed by the possible interpretations, my apologies for this ignorance 😱🙏 now on 4/4/23 the vaporizer is called kalu'99 and costs 99€ (except for all those who ordered before today)

I live in France and I have never had this problem or return with this vaporizer and its price/name, so now when I count I will go from 87 to 89 directly...I will tell my children about it too 🤔 this world with these projections is strange anyway. I didn't think I would enter a spirituality or numerology forum, I myself am a specialist in Chinese medicine and herbalism, I don't embarrass people with these foundations or way of thinking because it's another subject that has nothing to do here...in short, so be it, love and peace for all ☮️

keep the humor and forgive me... you perfect people 😅

I must admit, I thought it was a white supremacist symbol when first I saw the 88 in the subject line.
I understand now that the manufacturer did not intend for people to take it that way, but one has to remember that many will read it that way and look no further at the product. I wouldn't have looked at the product any further for that very reason, if it weren't for the discussion here.

@Kalu
Sorry if I did sound offensive, it was not my intention. Just make people laugh and say that the interpretation of the symbology can be very subjective, although there is that meaning. (No one have to remove that number of the existence, or any other symbol; you can keep it if you want).
And don't worry, people usually read the whole threads when they have few pages, I don't think they think that thing.

Around here, in Spain, I have seen that number a lot…much more than i would like…in the bad meaning 🤣 (and as I said, the context is important, it is not the same to see it tattooed on the arm of a man, next to the Francoist eagle and the swastika, than in a Chinese restaurant next to a lucky cat xdd)

Like Socrates said: “May the Pear be with you, bro”

Or maybe you guys just have an unhealthy obsession? I actively enjoy watching documentaries on the subject and [trying] to understand why people believe the strange things they do, and have past connections who are indeed in the life. And until yesterday I had ZERO idea what 88 meant.

Pass not judgement lest ye be judged.

Same here mate.

If anyone was to ask me the significance of 88, before yesterday, I would have probably said.."errrm, 2 fat ladies?".

Bingo anyone?

LoL
Well, from now on 88 will always be the equivalent of €11 for me...
That's the price we will all pay for this strange numeric symbol to return to the dark cave it appearantly resides....

Man, we should have suggested 66 instead of 99... :D

Anyway: i am happy for the maker!
Never seen a price raise on customer demand like this before!
Everybody seems to welcome it so i say: Well done!!!

Please remove the number 99,it is very offensive in my culture ,it symbolyzes hairy balls.. and we know that was pretty much a thing in 80s,not it is considered gross ,lol |
Please leave the numbers alone ,it is just numbers. When you get 10,88 bill at McDonalds ,you dont blame them for being supermacists .
-----------------------------
Anyway @Kalu I understand your frustration with this, i have received PMs ,because once i had a guess on a contest that involved 88 number in it.. (8,88) ..... Being alergic to numbers is just insane.

What a bummer, was hoping to hear some Denzel Curry in a marketing campaign. Or perhaps 88rising:

Though on the other hand....

Can we talk exotic woods perhaps? I reckon some burl shots might be something we can all rally behind.

I think we need to remember that English isn't the native language of the OP.

"Drunk" literally translate to "soûlé" in French. But "soûlé" has also a more figurative meaning : "to be sick of something" / "to get on your nerves".
@Kalu came here to share his work and what I see is that he had put some time and passion into it. I can understand that seeing his thread being hijacked into a semantic discussion over the "88" symbol can upset him.

From what I have understand it seem that he also prefer spending some time on the lathe than typing on a keyboard in front of a screen and that should be considered (and respected) as well.

Sorry for this digression.

I reckon some burl shots might be something we can all rally behind.
