And I thought I posted this yesterday but it appears it didn't make it out for reasons I can't explain....regarding "upgrade packs" for existing Satchmo customers:
As you all know, and as a result of feedback from FC members I'm continuing my search for optimal gasket material (non-stick as possible and odor free). That search has resulted in my contacting A LOT of gasket makers across the United States. A few weeks ago I found a came across a company with a gasket and shock absorption expert (dude is a treasure trove of knowledge). He works largely with portable electronics manufacturers, think mobile phones...glass, shocks etc.
My contact received a sample of each type JyAR and he immediately came up with some recommendations.
First, he sent me samples for a new, high-tech shock absorption material for the base of the Satchmo. It has some unique properties that make it a better shock absorber than the current version. This material also is compression set resistant but is "cushy" so that the closing action is smoother. So it's just a better material and we're replacing all current Satchmo shock absorbers which are made from Buna-N to this new "foam" material. As noted earlier if you bought a JyAR directly from us on JyARz.com you will receive this new shock absorber in the mail...we'll start shipping them out later this week or early next.
We are also going to include a free sample silicone gasket for the top of the Satchmo. We're trying out some new silicones and we'd love your feedback. We think this new version is an improvement but we'll let our customers decide.
Please note that we took great care producing the Satchmos that are out in the word already. They are good and solid as is, but given that we found new materials that we think make them better and we're just starting to sell them so we can pretty easily give everyone a free upgrade without breaking the bank..so that's what we are doing.
Last, all new Satchmos that go out will incorporate these changes. We'll still try out new gasket material if and when we find it but we believe this new silicone is pretty nice stuff so we'll go with it.
