Just a lil bit!
Breathes perfectly on the Solo - the bottom rung of grip beads catches as a stopper on the Solo cap so that the bowl rim is elevated just a hairs-breath above the stainless steel heater base, so convection works as it should. Heating the herb to temp takes a little longer due to the extra thickness of the glass, which I like a lot. The extra thick glass holds the heat longer as well. So all-in-all I think both conduction AND convection are enhanced with your design - the dense vapor production proves it for me! Thanks again for bringing all of us a GREAT vape enhancer. Go forth & prosper JoDa Glassworks!!! The Universe awaits!I'm so glad it fit your solo as well. I was a bit Leary of that part. How does it perform on the solo?
I just signed up for a basic course in turning glass beads, intended to be followed by several advanced courses and finishing in a 4-part course on boro. Also, it's a slow day at work and I am sitting here with 2 taped pens of different diameters, doing dry practice.
I wanted to thank @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd for the inspiration and even more, motivation. I am stuck in routine that makes me anything but happy and for the longest time I just couldn't find a way out, as stupid as those things may be. I don't expect to make a livelyhood of this, but the kind of anticipation and joy I currently feel has eluded me for way to long.
Oh, also, the glass has arrived and I have been told it's exceptionally beautiful! Pictures as soon as I can get my hands on it.
Also @Herr_Dampf take a piece of chewing gum and chew it for about a minute (so it's really soft) then stick that between 2 pens or dowels or whatever and practice on that. Try to make sure you make even revolutions with both hands as not to twist the gum up. It's one of the best practices I used while preparing for this. The gum is one of the closest feeling things to molten glass. Still there's nothing like the glass. Also get on amazon and order contemporary lampworking volumes 1 and 2 by bandhu s Dunham and thank me later.
I was actually just reading that article last night. I try to follow every glass artist I can. If I'm not blowing glass I'm learning all I can about it with quite a bit of testing it sprinkled throughout! Lol. It takes big time dedication if you wish to advance quickly in this game. I actually just lost Ms.V&C partly because of my new found path in life. That's the kind of dedication I'm putting forth! Plus I'm always trying to out-do the me from yesterday. Satisfaction is the death of innovation. If your satisfied with what you have you'll never reach for a higher goal.
Also the mega Mai tai, the slyme, and the half blood stems have now been sold.
My first worked piece Hard as hell to get a good picture with all the color changes. Nearly every star has a small piece of opal in it, with 7 larger chunks throughout the piece. It was the first time I saw a piece and knew I had to have it. Hands down my favorite piece of glass I've ever owned
