No you do not, the herbs require time to heat up anyway (approximately 45 seconds I think

If the heat source were larger and the unit more insulated, then the oven analogy would be more appropriate, I think. Nut the heating element is about maxed out and the unit is poorly insulated. But it normally does not need to heat more than it does, snd doesn't need to be more insulated.
Based on Gray's testing, it seems clear that the iolite can't handle heating the added metal parts. I would guess that the iolite also cycles on more frequently while trying to keep up.
Regarding the smaller quantity of vapor = smaller quantity of weed-stuff, I can do a smaller bowl and still get huge hits. So I don't think it's the fact that the metal is displacing weed.
At any rate, regardless of the reason, the optimizer doesn't seem to be of added benefit to me, anyway. Although I've gone through three iolites (on my third) I would buy another and treat them as disposable because when they work, they are perfect for me. My current iolite runs flawlessly.
Perhaps you're packing your load too tightly. The iolite, like most vapes functions best with a very loosly packed bowl of fairly finely ground, very dry herb. Also, with the iolite, if your just casualy puffing on it steadily, a bowl should last a good 15-20 minutes. So if your dumping it out before that it's not gonna be thoroughly depleated yet.Favre1481 said:quick question my weed after im done vapeing is still really green and dosent look thoroughly vaped...any suggestions?

Mine is the new version. It doesn't work on that model either. lol

Mine is always brown. I don't load large though. You're gonna get a lot of hits with a fixed temp vape, and if you pack it full you'll be hitting the same bowl for a long time. Since more of the heat will be in the center, due to the heating pin and the air path, packing it tight may not allow the herb on the perimeter to get as much heat either.Favre1481 said:quick question my weed after im done vapeing is still really green and dosent look thoroughly vaped...any suggestions?

It certainly doesn't work well or at least it didn't for me (I reviewed it on page 116-118). If anything, it hinders the way the unit normally runs. I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to optimize but if you're expecting larger hits with it than you're out of luck.

I'm kind of surprised overall because I email Iolite CS and they said that it is actually an official Iolite product they just didn't have it in their store yet. Seems weird they would be endorsing it if it didn't work...
Wow that sucks, thanks for the review, i was about to pull the trigger on it.

However, another mouthpiece melted on me today. Luckily, I picked up a 3-pack when I bought the de-optimizer. I noticed the new ones have a slightly different appearance then the ones I previously had. The bottom piece that screws into the unit isn't shiny, it's more matte. Might hold up better,![]()
...so I think it will probably be the most durable today. The bad thing is I have only this one.greystr0ke said:The bottom piece that screws into the unit isn't shiny, it's more matte.
