Zohran did great at the debate. Cuomo, in addition to being a criminal and a sex creep, looks old and decrepit.

This was one of the most insane things I've seen in any debate.

During a section where candidates were supposed to give a one word answer about what foreign country they'd first visit as mayor. Cuomo and some other loser said, "Israel". Zohran said he'd stay in NYC and serve New Yorkers.

The moderators then broke format and asked, "do you support Israel's right to exist???" Zohran replied, "Yes". This did not satisfy the moderators. Then they asked, "do you support Israel as a Jewish State". Zohran replied, "I think every country should have equal rights for all". This caused every other candidate to yell at him.

I wish the news media knew how this looks. Singling out the only Muslim candidate for mayor and haranguing him over this shit. It feeds into the conspiracy theory that Israel controls this country (instead of the other way around).

Also, given how Israel has been acting for the past 20 months a mayoral candidate wanting to make an official visit to that country is more scandalous than saying every human everywhere deserves equal rights:shrug:

New KDE campaign to attract people with non-Windows 11 compatible computers to Linux: https://www.theregister.com/2025/06/04/kde_windows_10_exiles/ !

I hope the campaign is a success in spite of my doubts...

A big reason I still use Windows is I don't want a whole separate system to maintain for gaming and work. But that may be drawing to a close...

Over time the reasons to continue using Windows only seem to get fewer and fewer! I switched my main desktop over a while back and was surprised by how good gaming on it was, performance is nice (often slightly better than Windows on the same hardware) and a very surprising number of the games I tried to run (read: most of them) worked just fine. In fact I think the biggest failure was a game that I couldn't get to run on current Windows either (Windows 98 era game, Rocket Jockey; I'm told a lot of these are hard to run nowadays...). My only remaining Windows computer is my HTPC but I can't switch that because the software I need doesn't exist for Linux; should it ever get made I will probably switch over immediately, assuming it works well.

A week or so ago someone did a direct Windows to SteamOS comparison on the same hardware and the results were pretty awesome, ~10fps more in most games and more than double the battery life with SteamOS! https://www.windowscentral.com/gami...ormance-and-battery-life-as-well-as-usability

Yeah it's looking very promising! My understanding is Linux becomes a bit more complicated once you add a dedicated GPU to the mix. This probably has less to do with Linux, and more to do with NVidia's driver support. But things are trending in the right direction!

A bit of both I think, with AMD the drivers are open source and are included in the Linux kernel; you just pop the card in and that's all. With NVidia they need to be manually installed.

I bet the orange one wants to put the one on ketamine in jail and take all his money. He will now concentrate all his efforts strongly on doing this.

He will be saying "Elon a bad guy, he was on drugs this whole time and he needs to go to jail for what he has done"

Elon just said publicly that elections are useless and that it's the amount of money spent during election campaign that makes the president. It's verified amongst almost all "modern democracies", but that's the first time someone admits it.

He also admits that he did it to get advantage of it. "Such ingratitude".

He should go to jail for this. Our democracies are broken.

I'm a fan of rehabilitative justice rather than punitive justice. I don't think Elon--or hardly anyone--should be in prison. I just think he should have all of his power and money stripped since he clearly isn't able to wield it for the good of the world, and I don't believe anyone deserves that level of wealth or influence for *any* reason.

Strip him of all his titles and assets. Leave him with a human-sized house and regular, human-sized portions of food. Give him a travel allowance to use public transit. Problem largely solved.

I hold similar beliefs generally. But he doesn't deserve what he's taken from American workers. He's devastated tens of thousands of American families. When he's paid to stabilize what's left of the life support systems so many Americans rely on to eat, get well, and live indoors, we can talk about portion size. When he's compensated the fired/forced out Feds, then we can talk free rent. In federal prison. "Hardly anyone" should definitely include him.

You can't have Democracy AND billionaires. Gotta pick one. And Liberals prefer keeping their billionaires.

Now... I'd take people who support the existence of billionaires and want democracy seriously if they support publicly funded elections and extreme regulation of political donations. If you don't, you aren't a democrat. You're a kneeler, no different than a medieval peasant.

Honestly the medieval peasants are less pathetic. They kneeled because they believed God appointed their local noble. These guys want to kneel for the biggest scam artist.

Both Steve Bannon and @cybrguy want to nationalize SpaceX. I swear to God there's been something in the water since that CEO got popped.

Setting the precedent for nationalizing certain industries is a good thing. Because if we can nationalize for dumb reasons, like Elon saying mean things on Twitter, then we can nationalize for good reasons in the future:shrug:

I was a hard nosed Republican when younger. Finally realized what it means to live in a 100% commercialized society. It's all about money here, unfortunately. There's no longer any chance of straightening it out, no way to level the playing field or even make rich people pay what they should.

For awhile it looked like billionaires were taking control of our country. However, in the last few days it's looking like only the criminal Trump is in charge. Unfortunately for the world, he's finally a legitimate billionaire as well. I'm guessing Elon will go after Trump with a vengeance, and he just might expose him in order to get Vance in power sooner rather than later.

Some enlightened souls might suggest that we are essentially (modern style) slaves in this country, slaves controlled by economic tyranny. It's work or starve, pay or be evicted/foreclosed, etc.. I'm okay with the knowledge that no government or business person cares about my well being. However, I find it sad that I'm some ways we're just a captive market for the rich to prey upon. Most of us have to pay to play. The decreasing relative strength of the dollar translates directly to reduced standard of living. That's been happening since the 1970's.

Sorry for the rant, again.

There have been some very stupid people trying to sell Democrats on pursuing what they call, "The Abundance Agenda". Their central hypothesis is that housing costs have skyrocketed in every major metro because of Unions and Environmental groups. They're begging Democrats to run on de-regulation, not breaking up corporate power.

Only problem. Running on this stupidity is a political loser.

I've heard The Abundance Agenda described as "DOGE for pussies". Apt because these are the guys who are going to try and bring Elon back into the Demoncratic Party.

I'm not against cutting bad regulations. The problem is when you see deregulation as a universal good. Because the last time Reaganites, including Democrats like Bill Clinton, tried to do "Abundance", they crashed the global economy.
