There's a new story/letter/writing out by a long-term environmentalist in regards to what he calls "The Climate Scare". I hesitate to post as it is sure to be controversial and does not quite comport with my thoughts on the matter either. But, the guy has cred, I bet he can support all he says, it is unlikely people would see it if they get most of their news from TV and, well written articles that change the narrative are interesting news.

On Behalf Of Environmentalists, I Apologize For The Climate Scare

The basic premise:

Here are some facts few people know:
  • Humans are not causing a “sixth mass extinction”
  • The Amazon is not “the lungs of the world”
  • Climate change is not making natural disasters worse
  • Fires have declined 25 percent around the world since 2003
  • The amount of land we use for meat—humankind’s biggest use of land—has declined by an area nearly as large as Alaska
  • The build-up of wood fuel and more houses near forests, not climate change, explain why there are more, and more dangerous, fires in Australia and California
  • Carbon emissions are declining in most rich nations and have been declining in Britain, Germany, and France since the mid-1970s
  • The Netherlands became rich, not poor while adapting to life below sea level
  • We produce 25 percent more food than we need and food surpluses will continue to rise as the world gets hotter
  • Habitat loss and the direct killing of wild animals are bigger threats to species than climate change
  • Wood fuel is far worse for people and wildlife than fossil fuels
  • Preventing future pandemics requires more not less “industrial” agriculture

I know that the above facts will sound like “climate denialism” to many people. But that just shows the power of climate alarmism.

Facebook frustrates advertisers as boycott over hate speech kicks off

Advertisements for more than 400 brands including Coca-Cola and Starbucks are due to vanish from Facebook on Wednesday, after the failure of last-ditch talks to stop a boycott over hate speech on the site.

Drug overdoses are soaring during the coronavirus pandemic

Nationwide, federal and local officials are reporting alarming spikes in drug overdoses — a hidden epidemic within the coronavirus pandemic. Emerging evidence suggests that the continued isolation, economic devastation and disruptions to the drug trade in recent months are fueling the surge.

Guy (may have) said #metoo accusations against another in a spreadsheet of accusations posted on Google that was freely available and editable by those who read it. The other seems an assfuck based on the accusations on the spreadsheet and sues for defamation. Court is going to allow narrow discovery on the defense of CDA immunity. There, the issue is if Guy acted as a service (get out of lawsuit free) or a content (sad trombone sound) provider.

Navy to sailors: Please stop buying LSD online

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service has a message for America's sailors: Please, for the love of Poseidon and the Seven Seas, stop buying hallucinogens in the dark corners of the Internet.

NCIS last week issued a warning to sailors to the risks of acquiring LSD on the so-called "dark web," the network of often-illicit sites accessible through specialized browsers that offer users "perceived anonymity."

Why hundreds of people vanish into the American wilderness

Strangely, the most reliable info on missing people in the wild comes from Bigfoot hunters. In 2011, David Paulides, founder of the North America Bigfoot Search, launched a database of wildland disappearances that occurred under “mysterious circumstances.” From his research, there are at least 1,600 people, give or take, currently missing in the wild somewhere in the United States.

Tiny Weed-Killing Robots Could Make Pesticides Obsolete

Clint Brauer’s farm outside of Cheney, Kansas, could be described as Old MacDonald’s Farm plus robots. Along with 5,500 square feet of vegetable-growing greenhouses, classes teaching local families to grow their food, a herd of 105 sheep, and Warren G—a banana-eating llama named after the rapper—is a fleet of ten, 140-pound, battery-operated robots.

The lives upended around a $20 cheeseburger
On the burger’s journey from a Kansas farm to the engineer’s dinner plate, every person had a story like Solano’s. A rancher with five children who lost thousands every week. A factory worker who brought the virus home to her son. A courier who calculated the true cost of every delivery not in profit, but in the risk it required her to take.

It's going to be the best election ever!

Kanye West sets out his 2020 election platform: Rapper reveals he no longer supports Trump, will run for the 'Birthday Party' using the 'Wakanda management model' – and claims vaccines are 'the mark of the beast'
On the Wakanda management model: West referred to the film Black Panther to outline his election platform, saying the Wakanda framework was the best to describe what he would do in the White House. He added: 'You got Kanye West, one of the most powerful humans—I'm not saying the most because you got a lot of alien level superpowers and it's only collectively that we can set it free.'

Squirrel tests positive for the bubonic plague in Colorado

Public health officials have announced that a squirrel in Colorado has tested positive for the bubonic plague.

The town of Morrison, Colorado, in Jefferson County, which is just west of Denver, made the startling announcement saying that the squirrel is the first case of plague in the county.

Slightly fixed that for ya ;)

Plague was recently found in China, Mongolia, Russia. I kinda know why this is happening but I dont wanna start a debate :)

Still, a terrifying thought. Covid really has been just a trial run. A mild one at that :(

I like links too. While some of the really technical stuff is beyond me, reading the actual studies help contextualize everything. I suspect the links and explanations are in the book he was pimping.

Mosquitoes flying free as health departments focus on virus

Bug spray, swollen welts, citronella. It’s mosquito season.

And in a normal year, the health department serving Ohio’s Delaware County would be setting out more than 90 mosquito traps a week — black tubs of stagnant water with nets designed to ensnare the little buggers.

But this year, because of COVID-19, the mosquitoes will fly free.

The diseases that are spreading by that vector is increasingly scary. After putting on your mask, go outside and dump out all the water puddles you have around. There are some area devices that seem to work on killing them over an area and I think enough people are using them around my house as we aren't getting bitten up as yet.

But, scary. Zika is affecting a lot more kids than just the ones obviously hurt by it. People will need a lifetime of special care.

From Wikipedia: The Father of Hand Washing - Ignaz Semmelweis

(Died August 1865) was a Hungarian physician and scientist, now known as an early pioneer of antiseptic procedures.

Despite various publications of results where hand washing reduced mortality to below 1%, Semmelweis's observations conflicted with the established scientific and medical opinions of the time and his ideas were rejected by the medical community. He could offer no acceptable scientific explanation for his findings, and some doctors were offended at the suggestion that they should wash their hands and mocked him for it.

Everyone knows disease is the result of an imbalance of humours. I will accept, for a moment, gaseous miasmas might contribute to that imbalance. But, I'm not sure little tiny men running around everywhere that we can't see or detect, are a source. Keep talking like that and you'll have a nervous breakdown and die in a mental institution!

The build-up of wood fuel and more houses near forests, not climate change, explain why there are more, and more dangerous, fires in Australia
Climate change is not making natural disasters worse

look, I don’t believe that is a fair analysis, and it really comes packed full of agenda that substantiates the first made, secondly quoted quip.

the fires here have been full fucked, not just in residential areas, that’s just what makes the news, things are burning here that haven’t burnt for thousands of years, and people in the thick of it are far from recovery and have had terrible support and right after have faced the same ridiculous “epidemic” impacting every continent and people.

I’ve lived in the bush and I’ve studied geography and have been predicting the fire situation ever since. People studying virology have been warning about other situations for some time too.

the other trajectories that become apparent when fairly observing dynamics at play are really just as inevitable.
Talking about food production, the primary agricultural bowls in Australia will be inundated by drought in my life time, it’s already happening and has been for ages. 220 billion dollars of infrastructure will be submerged by rising seas within 80 years. This will all have a stacking impact, it won’t be a friendly blow. But it’s nothing new or scary, rather mundane and usual.

Right now and before all this covid SARS 2 bioengineered distraction, I’ve lost track of what was going on in Africa with their locust plagues, and I haven’t really been keeping an eye on the floods in China that have displaced millions of people and negatively impacted crop production.
Allegedly the Chinese are stockpiling grains, as they know more about the reality we share than is freely available info. At incredible rates, and imminently, water, food and space will become violently sought after.

this is the problem with the drama, emotion and insanity or disservice that surrounds the ‘climate scare’ rhetoric.

we shouldn’t be scared of what is about to happen, we should all be working together to mitigate the enormous changes that are both obvious and ramping up.
