Ok, so I've had my replacement now for the last week. I have no idea what model this is but it has just a narrow sticker going top to bottom and a frosted led, still just as bright as before.
It doesn't work like the older one, it's different. I used to vape around a 4 or so, then gradually work my way up to a 7. A capsule would last me 24 minutes. So when I got my replacement, I turned it up to a 4. Nothing. There was a little more taste than before so I said whatever, let's try this auto thing.
Anyway, I've been meandering about but I just put it in auto and my two firewoods, solo, and DBV which was keeping me going have now been put away again. I have no idea how this is works but I just put it in auto now and it's always giving me exactly enough vapor, just to the point of wanting to cough. The clouds are just as big but not as white or milky. Instead, much more of a blue tinge. Whatever it's doing, it's finally allowing me to get some sleep again. By the way, I only started smoking because I can't sleep. The two months I was without this thing I barely slept. So long story short, I take back everything bad I said about Inhalater. It took a while but they did right and I'm sorry I wasn't more patient. I eventually found the temperatures work, and just don't care, auto works well but I have no idea what it does. Thank you so much for doing whatever voodoo that automatic is. I have a pinnacle pro on the way but I don't even care anymore. Yay inhalater.
I am happy to see others finally posting about the shuttle differences they too are noticing about their new replacements.... I too liked the auto but agree completely with Vitolo and Greg...it is maybe a bit thin and for sure too short..... I like to stretch out my temp climb as well.... I start around 5.5/5 for 1 run then step it up to 6.5/6 for the 2nd run which might get stepped on 7 before the run is timed out... then my 3rd run will often jump to 8/8.5/9....and like I think you mentioned with this new unit I sometimes need to start into a 4th run before all of my vapor extraction has stopped....
So it's vapor stepping automatically... that's interesting. I guess I can live with that. The abv is definitely much lighter than my old unit. My old unit on my 24 minute cycle per full load the left overs were black, and I never went above a seven.
On this one after a full 24 minute cycle, I still get a little bit of vapor but the abv is a medium/dark brown. Not "almost black" as before. I still feel just as medicated. I should note, I only get visible vapor on either auto or if I turn it up above a seven. Nothing below that gives me visible vapor.
Inhalater feels that you can get close to the same performance if you start out a bit hiher during warm up time {then give it a pull to get things rolling} I added that.....then after it has gotten going dial it back a bit......I will admit that this does help and for sure improves extraction a noticeable amount so you might want to give that a try.....
Oh and one last tid bit....if it is sleep you are after the much higher temps are your best friend...... as this is were... if your herb has any percentage of CBN's are extracted at the higher temps 8 & 9....
You most likely can get the substrate to almost black be turning the dial just before the auto mode.
A qualitative estimation is quantity in the capsule. 0.3g for full. Using quantities from a 1/4 will create visible vapours but a higher temperatrure.
It disappoints me every time I see postings were the consumer pass along quite a few important mentionable characteristic differences and for whatever reason this manufacturer chooses to only respond to .....well here is a good example....."turn it to the highest setting and it will give you the dark brown color"...... and he is correct if you can handle the harsh heat on your throat it will indeed be as dark brown as the older......
I'm hopeful if enough of us write in to Greg to explain what each of us has noticed about the newer models.....they might try to figure out what caused the difference....so far they simply feel it is a temp thing or a temp patern might be more accurate...hence the open to ideas for the "Auto" mode
What's the battery life like for the newest model?
Battery life has improved slightly.....which I think can be contributed to a slightly softer performance as well....the device is more closely or tightly controlled thereby making it a bit more efficient.... of course you must understand usage will always effect run times....so I believe you will notice it might last a few minutes longer is all.....
im still sittin on my recently deceased Q2 XP. not sure if i should take Taylor's offer for store credit or if i should attempt to contact pharmacor about a replacement.
I would also go for the replacement as I know how much you liked your XP..... the replacements are decent performers and as many have said the best I have ever used....but I you should know that my GF's unit ha already started showing signs the USB will quit charging very soon.....as the light is going off if the cable is to the right and it is getting worse......because of this I would say YES get your replacement but depending on your needs you may want to wait for the improved 05 model which could only be 2 or 3 months out....or do you get another one of these likely to have the USB issue....
I like my Xp more days after days, I never cough with it when I start at 5 and finish at 6 and clouds are bigs! Cleaning is easy and I don't clean it anymore since I put a little ball of coton in the deep of the oven (in the caps).
The only cons that I found is the smell issue when you want to be stealth, when it starts heating it smell like weed all around, after some draws the odour disappear (vaped), in a next future it could be a nice improvement to fix this smell issue....
Almost forgot you....ha ha ....Anyway I think you may have caused your own smell issue....depending on a few things you have stated above.....
if your putting cotton in the cap just in front of the screen.....and
if you are using the cotton more than once.....I believe you might be trapping some of the oils that begin to immediately condense back into a solid....which will collect as an oily substance in your cotton...I'm sure you have noticed it......as I have been scrapping it off the inside walls of my draw tube.....
Anyway the cotton will inevitably collect oils ...and since the cotton is in the hottest portion of the heat chamber {sensor also} then I can see why it would give off a strong odor when heating up.....
I'm guessing it's not to bad with a fresh cotton in a cleaned cap......
I also have grown to respect and appreciate this newer version.....but by the same token... I still very much miss my fantastic Q2 started on 2 or 3.....so smooth.....and finisher her off on my 3rd run @ 7 or 8 without hurting my throat......ahhhhhh the GOOD Old Days........
