sorry i have not been back to update you all. i received my new Carbon Fiber ceramic Imag plus a couple of days ago. i have only used it 3 times but so far i am liking it. i think it is much better that the original that i still have and use. now that i have this one, that ill be a back up. i also received an updated xmax v2. when i get some time to do a full review i will compare the new Imag against the old one and the updated xmax v2. i will post my intial reactions though:

1) love the new twist to lock mouthpiece. hands down the best improvement
2) also love the new screw in screen with the bigger holes (there was no ceramic "screen or piece" in the mouthpiece that some have said they received
3) not sure how i feel about the semi open bottom of the heating chamber and the screen (it has already fallen out and almost threw it away cause i missed it falling out - be careful)
4) lights go green-blue-red. does not matter to me what order they go in
5) heat up time is only slightly faster than the original but only like by 3 to 5 seconds

thats it for now. i need to drive it some more before the full review

Mines the same except the color order. Did yours stink? Mine still doesn't smell nice

Alright, isoed to get things going quicker, and now more brmurn offs.

Theres a small brown mark on the ceramic near the top of the oven, doesn't come off.... What's that about? Brand new

Also, I think I can see just a hint of the led through the bottom screen of the bowl. Do you others with the new carbon fiber isolated airpath see that?

Is mine not new enough? Shipped in the same batch, but led goes blue green red as always, while others report it switched? So you green blue red carbon fiber guys see the slight peak of the red led in the bottom of your screen like I do?
Sounds like you have the updated version with old PCB. Since I don't think PCB changed it shouldn't make a difference. I get a very hint of color in the bowl too. This makes sense since silicone was used to seal the bottom hole which has 4 wires (two for power, two for the thermocouple), these 4 wires connect the heater to the power button/board.

You can try heating it up and blocking one of the air intake holes. With the other hole blow air into it. Mine doesn't taste natural, slight vinegar flavor. I found after a certain point it is best to just load a bowl and go with it.

BUT i have not seen the post how to take it apart. So if you could link to that page that details how to take the unit apart I would appreciate it.

thanks
It is not intended to be taken apart. The enclosure parts are fitted together to hold by cohesion. You should have certain tools and experience to disassemble without damage. Depending on which model you have, the inner parts are different. Also remember disassembling it will void your warranty.

So you green blue red carbon fiber guys see the slight peak of the red led in the bottom of your screen like I do?

The material used to close off the path of wires is white, but slightly transparent, and very thin - I have a dim light coming through as well - but not air.

Just made a video comparing my old and new Imags - I have measured 34 and 53 sec. Both units were fully charged, and exact same starting ambient temp (first attempt was recorded, no parts were heated previously). 19 seconds significant difference for the new CF Ceramic, also, changing temp is almost immediate (matter of seconds) for the newer version.

Yeah I believe you are right about the led/silicone. What I suspected/hoped.

Yeah I've done that in the past, but its bothering me more now for some reason, i dono maybe I'll eventually just do it (swoosh)

Any thoughts on the brown mark on the oven? Suppose I should contact Ray about it perhaps, and the loose usb port...

I have the same brown mark on top of chamber, I have no clue TBH, but my best guess would be, when they manufacture the ceramic element, they attach them to "something" to burn them in an oven to solidify. Wouldn't worry too much, though it is a well spotted, pre-cautious note :)

mine does not stink

Whoop mines finally neutralized! Tools several burn offs I lost count, just bc the sessions are so short. Other vapes have longer sessions so its easier. Anyhoo now I can acthay use it

i just tested both of mine from cold and took a video and this time my original model heated up quicker than the new CF ceramic. i swear... i can't upload to youtube cause i can't have 420 stuff showing up on it. if i could attach the video direct here i would

No need to attach your vid, I believe you :) How many sec is your ceramic heat up time to first temp?Though I would think something isn't right - small gap between thermocouple and ceramic heater maybe? What matters is, that ceramic has the heating element moulded into itself, older version has a Kapton heater film around a steel chamber - thermocouple attached to this Kapton film, which gets hotter quicker than the iron chamber. Very different heat dissipation as well - through a thermal imager ceramic looks a much even method. Or could this be a result of "update in electronics" ?! Others who has both version could jump in with some more info maybe?

Hello guys, has anyone gotten news about the new Imag 2 (with the universal thread)? I was the first 100 to submit and I haven't been getting any clear updates as of the release date or such information.

Anyways it's nice to be here. I have been lurking this post since Page 5 and Im finally allowed to post after verifying my new account here (the confirmation mail got sent to my spam lol). Mine was the first ever generation and its still going great till now. Some hairline crack on the plastic cap but it's all good.

I gave up waiting on that, it uderwent several design stages, but never finally been released. As they say, they are still working on it, it will have a "PAX-style" herb chamber, and the unique 510 thread for e-liquids, although I guess with the success of IMAG Ceramic they lost interest in developing another, not really exciting device. I could be wrong though... The hairline crack seems inevitable, I have 7 mouthpieces, all (!) with that crack appeared - not really bothering though! Welcome here anyways :)

Got my test Imag! I dont have time to write a lot, but heres what I noticed so far:
Screw on mouthpiece is awesome
Heats up quick
Amazing aesthetics
Discreet
Seems rather inefficient (this could be user error)

You mean in terms of extracting your herb?

I think I have an older version and it browns it all really nicely.
For me it seems inefficient when I take into account amount of draws I get and also the effect. This is when comparing to the air

I don't know, I get pretty big clouds, but also my imag+ was $59 and my AA was $200+, I find the image+ more stealth than the air. But the AA definitely tastes better

Do this check / fix :
Possible poor vapor production issue:
Ok, so first I explain what could go wrong when the device is working. Poor vapor production is a result of extra air unintentionally leaking into the draw. This extra air enters a very unfortunate place, between the mouthpiece and top of device - the black ring installed as a closure for heating chamber, also it is a profile to receive the locking nuts on the MP. The air entering here will obviously not pass through the heated substance, carrying no vapor at all, resulting a hardly visible, weak draw.
A simple method to determine where the air is infiltrating, is to cover the two intake holes on the enclosure when trying to draw air. As the airpath is completely sealed off from electronics, and you are blocking the air intake holes, the only way to get "false draw" is at the point where MP attached. If you put some "Blu Tack" around this tiny gap, you should not be able to suck through any air, this confirms the fault!

Simple solution:
We are aiming for an obvious solution to provide maximum insulation of the path of vapor between the MP, and the heating chamber. To achieve such results, follow these two easy steps:
-Screw off the cleanable metal part from the MP.
-Screw it back only about one/one and a half turn. It will be loose, but don't worry about that.
Try to lock on the mouthpiece. If you cannot, it is because the screen obtruding too much, so keep turning about a half turn every time, until MP locks tightly again! Try again to block the intake holes on the side, you should feel now, that no more extra air gets to vaporpath! Now all you draw gets through the heated substance :D
Now having a gap between screen and rest of MP installation, you may also put on a high temp silicone ring to maximize sealing, though it is not necessary.

Best place in the US to order the new ceramic imag plus?

Not available for order yet as far as anyone knows. Patience, seems they're just about there.

I'll be posting my thoughts soon, likely over the weekend since that will be a week of actual use, not just burn offs

Weird, $10 cheaper than the manufaturers site.

I think I saved even more since I paid $99 total and that included shipping. I got black one, copper tube and 2 mouthpieces (that turn and lock in). It works amazingly well. I use the middle (blue setting) and I get great taste and tons of vapor. It has 3 settings green, blue then red.
