I'm a bad Vaporist, how about you?

What device are you using?

That's a big difference with smoking:
when smoking joints all you need is a lighter and a well rolled joint and you're as good as it gets with the weed at hand but when vaping the device/method also has a lot of impact on the experience so a good vape (that suits your style) is essential to make the transition easier.

I came from smoking joints (with tobacco) too so the challenge was double: next to having to find the best vaporizer to fit my (weed)needs i also had a nicotine addiction from smoking joints all those years (never smoked a cigarette). So i also got some help from using a cheap nicotine vape on the side to get rid of the nicotine cravings.
Hi HoneyBadger,

I've started out basic with a Flowermate Aura and a Flowermate V5.0 PRO - I wanted something cheap with dosing capsules. It could also be the weed I've got as it is exceptionally sticky. As I said I'll keep learning the variables, it's just currently the results are inconsistent and I therefore open my mind to doubt.

I don't have any experience with the flowermates unfortunately so can't give you any device-specific advice.
Not a fan of using dosing capsules myself so i've selected my vapes on other criteria than you.

I did find this thread about the V5 pro:
https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/flowermate-vapormax-v-v5-0-v5-0s-v5-pro.13786/
Maybe you'll find some tips/more info about the device there?

To be totally honest: i'm not sure if these vapes are the right tools for the job at hand but again: i don't own them so take my words with a grain of salt...

Anyway: I'm sure you will find something since you said you are committed to switch to vaping but i would advice you to open a thread in the "Ask FC" subforum with your questions/requirements and such and also mention the devices you are currently using (and the issues you bump into). That will probably get you more replies/advice than you'll get here i think.

The more you go into detail about what you are looking for exactly the better suited the answers will be.
For example:
you want something portable or desktop? Battery or flame powered? Ripper or a sipper? What's the budget you are willing to pay?
You prefer convection or conduction? ...

The Flowermate is old tech and not really designed to use dosing capsules even though they came out with them. Most decent flower vapes cost over $100 unfortunately. I've owned probably 80% of the commercial vapes made. My three picks are: Arizer Air Max, cool tasty vapor and capable of lung busting hits ( unless your one of those people who can clear a bong bowl in one hit....... YIKES! ) it's actually more than I need my lungs are wimpy lol! I do use an Aeizer Air ( now superceded by the AIR SE ) daily and the Arizer Solo II with a bong at bedtime. Excellent vapes. Next the Boundless CFX Sells for $150 and is possibly the best mid price vape for those that need a heavy hit. Put this baby on a mini bong and set themp to 400F and it will hit like your smoking a bong! Only smoother! And it has an easy draw, I use mine at 370F and get just right vapor for me, no coughing! Ohh and there are custom mouth pieces out there too, both glass and stainless steel ( made for the Mighty but fit the CFX I believe ).
And I also like the DaVinci IQC. It makes good vapor, very tasty, is small and very pleasing to the eye! Some people don't like it's constricted draw, but I find by packing it lightly, not to firm, it can make thick vapor. And it's the most pocket friendly vape out there, next to the Arizer Argo, and a better vape than the Argo by far.

IMO the best bang for the buck of these, right now, is the CFX, on sale at Boundless for $134.95 Also there's a deal on an Air Max in the classifieds, I'd jump on that if I needed one!

As someone else who converted from smoking tobacco-laden joints. You've gotta have a vape that can hit harder than what you currently have.

A manual vape like a Dynavap would be good, although if you can stretch then go for a Tempest or a Lotus. You can push these vapes which can give you a much more satisfying high.

However, despite a few obviously successful sessions I still have this nagging disbelief that vaporisation works. Often during a session I catch myself doubting that the effect I'm having is anything except light-headedness from huffing hot air through a restrictive tube. Often I don't see any vapour although I can taste changes in flavour. When it does kick in I'm so impressed that it works but a part of me is more amazed at what I read about people feeling effects off what I consider tiny doses... is my tolerance too high? Am I doing it wrong? Is it all in my head? Have I got the wrong kit? Am I feeling anything at all or is it all psycho-somatic? f

Like many on here, I started with a crappy, unsatisfying device. The ones I can think of were Boundless CFC, Atmos, and Davinci. What these devices showed up was there was SOMETHING there, enough to keep trying anyway. Now I use 4 vapes all the time, a Mighty+, a FW9, a TM2, and a Lobo to take out. I don’t think there would be debate about it being psychosomatic with any of those 4, and definitely not the TM2 and FW9.
