Does anyone know about any Chicago area blowers with a storefront like Goo Roo? I would love to check out some local glass...

That is pretty sad. The only reason I use dispensaries is in the hope the product is inspected for safety. :uhoh:

Agreed, I didn’t start my journey until IL went full legal (I’m in MO) and had waited my entire life because I didn’t trust “some guy” I met to ensure my health. $$$ over people as usual.

Illinois Collects Nearly $100 Million More From Marijuana Tax Revenue Than Alcohol In 2021, State Data Shows

Illinois has generated almost $100 million more in tax revenue from adult-use marijuana sales than from alcohol in 2021, state data shows. And cannabis tax dollars have exceeded those for liquor every month since February.

The trend is yet another example of the strength of Illinois’s recreational cannabis market, which launched in January 2020 and has consistently seen record-breaking sales in the months since.

From January to November of this year, Illinois took in about $387 million in marijuana tax dollars, compared to $291 million from liquor sales, according to the Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR). The only month where alcohol tax revenue outpaced cannabis this year was January. The figures

State Rep. Mark Batinick, R-Plainfield, said he introduced the bill ahead of a filing deadline at the behest of the Illinois State Medical Society, whose members have concerns about potency and the “skyrocketing” number of cannabis-related calls received by the Illinois Poison Center.

Batinick’s proposal would cap the amount of THC in cannabis flower at 10% and set a 15% limit for concentrates and infused products. Pam Althoff, executive director of the Cannabis Business Association, believes that such regulation would be unprecedented — and a burden on weed producers.

What? You mean if we water it down and triple the prices people won’t buy it anymore?

I wouldn’t even call it black market, it’s a gray market at best. They’re trying the same play they used to corporatize organic farming; do it all in the name of safety. Problem is people didn’t spend decades buying organic milk on secondary markets; they overplayed their hand.

I don't think you understood, perhaps I miscommunicated.

...the way Illinois has handled weed, every decision has only helped facilitate and encourage a thriving black market. Everything is literally 2x more costly in a dispensary, people look elsewhere.

Or perhaps it was I that miscommunicated, there were a couple of separate thoughts that kind of mashed there.

Selling a legal product outside of defined regulations is grey market practice; weed is legal in IL so anyone selling it not through the direct white market is really more in a grey market than a black market.

Separately; the corporate strategy for emerging markets for decades nearing on centuries has been product dilution and price increases; because they have a strong legal foothold with little competition. They overplayed that hand in this case, not understanding that the grey market (yesterday’s black market) was alive and thriving long before they showed up, and will fill the market with non-watered down product at ‘market’ prices.

Thinkin about trying some flower from the Dispensary for a change. Any of you local folks have a flavorful strain to recommend?

I appear to be the complete opposite of the majority. My favorite brands are Bedford Grow and Cresco (more specifically their bulk brand High Supply); but everyone on Reddit seems to hate them and obsess over the $60+ 1/8ths. I currently have Lou’s Legacy and Orange Afghani from BG, both are delicious IMO.

I had to run over there quickly cause they were closing early due to the snow. I picked up a strain called Afternoon Delight #7 from Rythm. We'll have to see how it compares to the BM flower I have been getting...

Rythm has good stuff as well IME; their diesel strains are a backup buy for me if none of my faves are in.

I am off vaping for a month while I recover from some lung surgery (which went really well, btw) and I am looking for recommendations on gummies or other edibles that are available locally in the Chicago suburbs. Previously I have not had much luck with edibles, but it is my only choice at the moment and after 10 days of nothing my tolerance should be about Zero.

Have you tried the tonic drinks? Comes in a few flavors. I like to stick them in the freezer for a bit and have a slushy. For gummies the wonder wellness brand was pretty good. I know cresco had some Mindy's s'mores that where tasty.

@cybrguy Congratulations on the successful surgery. Get well soon!

Personally I think we know nowhere near enough about nanoparticles to be consuming them just to get high faster. It may be perfectly fine and present no danger, but we don't know that yet. I'll wait, though I will readily admit that the wait when going through gastro is a bitch.

Dosing for the RSO I got is a conundrum, and I managed to get higher for longer than I intended, but I solved the question I had previously had that I didn't think it worked for me. It worked. I just needed a higher dose/lower tolerance level combo.

Have you tried Tinctures? As for gummies at the dispo, Wana brand is highly rated.

I have this RSO now and I will try other ways to use it. If I can stand the taste I think I will try it under my tongue next.

I suppose we can stand the taste of anything to get high. We ate peyote buttons, didn't we?

Any new notable brands on the Illinois scene? ... or stick to the tried and true? Picked up some nice offerings from Rev last visit, including some hash rosins I was surprised to see in stock.

@cybrguy how's your recovery? I just broke ribs and am finding out if there was any lung damage this week... blunt trauma, boating accident in rough seas- hurts like fuck to breathe, cough, vape, move, everything fucking hurts.

I'm mostly a black market flower guy because the dispensary prices here still haven't come down far enough in price, but for now I am buying it there anyway in the hope it is cleaner just to protect my healing incisions. Haven't been very impressed with most of it, tho I did get some Aeriz Cake Breath that was very good.

I'm recovering quite well. Almost 6 weeks since surgery and I am back to vaping (no dabs yet) and managing pain with mostly Tylenol which means not much pain. Did something to my back and that is greater pain right now. Can't flip a water bottle so stuck with tap water for a while. That's my biggest complaint at the moment... ;)

Broken ribs suck and take a while to heal. Been there, no fun at all. Hope that is the worst of the damage.
