how safe is a heated o-ring?

need some help on an (imaginary?) issue. i use an o-ring like that in the pic below to make the operation air tight.

if the o-ring is heated and close to the air path, am i being anal in asking myself whether it's safe ie will it off-gas or something?

For those who do use o-rings, would you use silicone from china

this seems a lot more quality but if it's viton. is it as safe as silicon?

I don't think it gets enough heat where you are placing it...

Even if your glass part gets so hot that you start to hurt when you touch it you are still fine with that silicone o-ring. Same goes for viton. I use silicone or viton o-rings at work for applications that get much hotter than your gong will ever get with vaping. You should be safe.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea where our o-rings come from. They are bought from an european supplier, but I never checked where they are made. Don't really care as I am only useing them for work, not my vapes.

If you're no sure, you could heat one on a hotplate or something, to say 200°C, and take a whiff.

Or look for signs of discoloration or loosing flexibility and stuff. But like I said, I bet you are safe on these kind of temps.
