Herb gardener...
If someone wants to smoke some flower with me, I'm not going to refuse. I feel like combusted bud adds texture to my high. When I'm doing my thing, I only vape concentrates.

See, I find that combusted flower ruins my high...
Turns it heavy and groggy....
And make me taste bonfire for the next hour...

I don't combust at all now, and haven't for ages... it's just not nice for me.....

Although I do have fond memories of years of smoking, vaping has ruined it for me....
I can never go back.....

I combusted with my Vapcap first time ever yesterday. We were out hiking up a mountain. It was very windy. I used a single jet (should have brought a quad) and couldn't see the flame. On the third cycle I had a hard time aiming and ended up just lightly consisting. It was gross. My mouth tasted like an ashtray the rest of the day till I got home and washed my mouth out....yuck!

@Kalessin Yes, it's true. After a year of vaping every day, I finally combusted. I feel like I have now been initiated into a private club.

But, I have learned that I need a quad when vaping on a windy summit and some method of shielding it from the wind. It was like trying to like a cigarette in a huricane with a match. I think that the cap couldn't reach the click with the high wind, single jet and and my bad aim; the wind kept the cap too cool to click, but the covered tip kept heating.

Hahaha. AND WE WERE ALREADY HIGH FROM THE VAPOR BEFORE THE SMOKE INCIDENT..

I had a strange combustion incident shortly after I got my glass OG VapCap, but luckily I didn't inhale.

I had stuffed it full, as I always do, and put the cap on. Shortly after I started heating it with the torch I saw a bright flash and then the bowl was suddenly cherried. The cap didn't even come close to clicking! :hmm:

It turns out I had stuffed it so full that some of my herb had got caught between the cap and the outside of the chamber, which promptly combusted when the torch hit it, and it spread into the chamber.

A quick clean and I was back in business, now I make sure it's not overfilled when I pack it. It wasn't a very costly lesson to learn, about .07
grams worth of material.

1 year and 4 months of vaping... 4 months after the last tobacco+hash pipe. A very hard up and down trip... curse me if I fall in combustion again, shit!
@Vapor_Eyes @Squiby do you really combusted? Combustion means ashes to me, and since I vape I never been able to combust... I sometimes char, and charring is far more bad than combustion!

Well, not really. I vape 100% of the time. When I said I combusted the other day, it was an accident and when I smelled it I didn't inhale. However, when I checked the chamber, it was very dark ABV, no ashes at all. But being used to wonderful vapor flavour, this was gross!

@ander: The instance I mentioned in that post was most certainly combustion. The bowl turned bright red and there was ash in it.

I've only combusted a few times here and there since I've started vaping, mostly due to my own negligence. I would disagree about charring being worse though. If I actually inhale the smoke, the taste lingers in my mouth forever. It's like I ate an ashtray or campfire or something. :puke:

I also like to clean any affected vaporizer when combustion occurs. I don't find the need to do that with charring.

I haven't intentionally combusted in over a year and a half now. I could never go back, just because of the taste alone. I feel like a snob but I'd rather go without than taste that...

Hi FC! Back after a loong while , lots of work and... more work!
Been combustion free for almost 2 years and half now and never going back to the nasty habit.
Last time I tried 'for ol' times' about a year ago, I was sick to the stomach and woke up to a strange 'cold turkey' feeling, unable to move for a few minutes from the massive flu-like pain in the joints and body, general 'bad-being' and otherwise undescribable discomfort.
I didn't even get any of the 'nice' effects from smoking I was after either. It just felt wrong, tasted awful and din't get a proper high!

Have had a few combustion occurences though, couple with the Nano (over 6 is a no-no! :uhoh:) couple with the Sub (didn't pay attention: gotta dump the avb once in a while or it will touch the Ti tip, duh... :bang:) once with the Zion (do not follow advice from stoned friends to crank up the knob to the max! :mental:).

I agree with @Vapor_Eyes, charring doesn't taste foul as smoke does and I do not feel like cleaning after it happens.

Yup @Vapor_Eyes ashtray taste is exactly how i remember it too i have not combusted since and not tasted that in nearly 3 years now. But if you were trying to wean someone from smoking a blunt it would be a good start to maybe get them a hard hitting torch vape like the Supreme and tell them to go for 230-240-250 maybe? Just a slight combustion to give them the chemical hit and thick clouds they get with smoke.

But the goal should be to eventually get back to 220-225 is about the sweet spot for me i still am using a very high temp to get my hit i simply do not like it any other way but hot and heavy. But there is no combustion around 220c for sure just thick sedating vapor which i love.

I get one and hide it.

My wife is non-cannabis?

When I grow 4 foot COLAS my kid's say I'm crazy?

I am CIVILIZED (so I claim?)

@kellya86 back in the 70's my friends would bring us pound's of HASH to roll in our joints. Having the ROACH hit the back of your esophagus was brutal! HASH can be hot!

Great vid, very informative. Environmental degradation for cannabis cultivation = uncivilised
cheers @ataxian

chillin on the couch, sippin off a 22 ounce.
I get a sense of hangover-like gut rot when I combust, a lingering NASTY taste in my mouth, plus a vastly inferior high compared with vaping. Vaping really does require the best of the best grown and dried buds. Most people smoking mids that are still quite damp to the touch will never understand this!

I started with flower about 6 years ago, and got my first vape within a month, so luckily never had any issue switching over. I can and occasionally will combust in social occasions if it's the only option, but definitely prefer to avoid it.

Coming from no major experience with either method at the start, vapor always produced better results.

At the very start I tried to do a homemade vape with a candle under a glass with flower in it, but it didn't work super well.

For me it took as long as it took to get myself to the point that I just couldn't smoke anymore. I started smoking herb in HS, and never looked back, just turned 49yo. Got my first vaporizer back in 1997, it was like a ceramic smiley face with a fishbowl on top of the heating element to catch the "vapor", had no heat control and tended to burn quickly. Then i got a volcano back in 2007, and used it pretty exclusively at home, but while out i still smoked joints bowls and the ol one hitter i took with me everywhere. Finally this year after some very bountiful harvests I found myself with more herb than ever & the joints got really really big, and continuous throughout the day/nite for several months until i developed a pretty chronic smokers cough. Then after scoring some shatter and making moon rocks for my bong, my respiratory system started to say enough is enough. The cough started to hurt, and there was lots of tar coming up from my chest. Honestly it started to freak me out. Of course i had done all the research and knew about vaping and making edible oil, but i hadn't gotten to the point psychologically where i could believe that vapor could get you as high as smoke. Now I feel that vapor gets you 10 times as high as smoke. With smoking i could never get past a certain point, with vapes, i can go beyond and back. Once i determined to fuck combustion i decided to go all in and purchase a bunch of vapes. The Extreme Q, the Air, wispr2, mighty, MFLB, Vaporgenie sherlock bronze and glass, the nano log, and the dynvap. I use my old bongs with there nano, and i gotta say having a wide range is the best way to keep myself hooked into the practice of vaping. Im getting more out of my herb, and I'm getting higher than I've ever been. I think a big thing that got me over the psychological hump was some info i read on here about the combustion high vs the THC high. It seems i had confused toxic carbon poisoning with the weed high. Seems I was actually chasing the combustion high, and killing my weed high, until i realized this. It took me about two weeks to detox from the smoke, but now I've broken through and will NEVER GO BACK!

I actually still enjoy smoking out of glass. The flavor and smells are much different and I still enjoy them. The effects are different and don't find them negative at all if the flower is good

To each their own. As i made mention I acquired a volcano vaporizer back in 2007. That just blew doors off, but since i had continued to combust every day away from home, my body was constantly battling detox and craving/addicted to, the combustion high which I have finally learned is NOT the same as the THC CBD CBN high which is much different. I knew this from ingestion which is much closer to the vape high than smoking could ever be. I would recommend for anyone to consider a 2 week combustion detox to see a noticeable difference in the effect of your medication. I found it to be night & day (since March 2017). So much more than I could ever get out of it before. Happy vapor trails!

Coming up on 4 years of vapor bliss...gotten to the point where it's hard for me to handle cannabis combustion -being around it -much less tobacco combustion ...I find it comical smokers say things like
That bud tasted just like berries ...in a blunt ..I'm thinking in my head...nah man you have no idea ;) :D
Fuck combustion !!!

In my experience i wasn't able to get the most out of vaporizing until i was willing to fuck combustion. Once the addiction to the tars and and carbon monoxide had been detoxed i was finally able to feel the full effect of vaporization. Seems that the combustion was actually preventing me from experiencing the higher regions of possibility. Combustion was holding me back. IMHO one must fuck combustion to truly experience the "vapor bliss"

On the rare occasion that I combust in my vapcap there's always telltale smoke that tips me off before the inhale. Making the full switch has done much more for my health than I would have thought. It's a great decision, I just miss being involved when everyone else is sharing a joint :)
